PlayStation.Blog: Warhawk v1.1 Patch and Arbiters

Dylan Jobe, Game Director of Warhawk writes on the PlayStation.Blog:

"Hey everyone, its been awhile since I last made a post here. The team and I have been cranking away on support and updates for Warhawk and I thought it'd be a good idea to give you all an update as to what the hell we've been up to."

"We've also been working on a lot of fixes, server-side updates and client patches. Because lets face it, while the team and I were really happy with our launch and players around the globe were having a blast playing, there were some problems that players encountered once we rolled the game out to the masses (stats, connection issues, etc). I'm not going to sugar coat that with a strawberry-flavored, pink, PR candy shell – it's the truth."

3.3 - You aren't actually that far off.

While the server capacity is capped at 32 total for now, I was a part of the beta and there were always very strong rumblings of 64 person private servers. It is possible it was lan only, but I heard those rumors too frequently by very good players to just write it off.

I expect to see 64 player online in the future for Warhawk.

from Jobe's posts on the beta forum at that time; it appeared the main problem was just the size of the levels...the 5 "worlds" that were finished simply couldn't hold that many people...the amount of carnage would probably turn annoying more than anything...the original number was supposed to be 40, they then kicked it back to 32...64 is probably technically possible from the dedicated servers, but would be too crazy until we get more maps...

as of now...I wish Eucadia could hold a few more players...maybe like 40-45 or so, it seems to be the biggest overall map...but some of them I prefer to play with like 20-24 players for any team based game modes, like badlands and archipelego...32 players keeps everything so bottlenecked that if your team has just one idiot, you will never break through...

I had barely started playing and after one (yes, one) marathon playing session I jumped from 1st Airman to Commander (!).

While the skins are nice... getting owned by "true" Commanders who've been playing 10 hours a day since launch is not. I feel like an unworthy recipient of an affirmative action spot...

Yeah i think hes saying wankers to the cheats. im a commander but i know im not really, So im not bothered. A least now when you rank up it means you've got it the right way. not because of a bug.AND HOPFULLY IT WILL STOP THE GLITCHERS.cause they are a real pain in the butt

And I thought it could get no more hectic or better for that matter. IMO this is one of the best, if not the best multiplayer game I have played. Yes the game has its problems but once the action starts it is hard to put down.

14.1 - I agree with you but....

...there are some accidents too!!
Let me give you an example. Yesterday I was playing a lot of Warhawk, 10+hours to be correct (my only day of the week) so as I was playing and there where a few situations when we hat a lot of enemy soldiers bunched up at our base. Just really crumed together! I was in a tank mostly so 1shot takes out all of them. There are also airplanes around them and jeeps that they came with. So I take my shot not seeing that there are three of my man behind these soldiers....and you know what happens...I take out all the soldiers including mine. That's three of mine team mates killed and that could happen all the time...running over a team mate with a jeep when they just sup infront of you. It just happens. I've been killed by my team a lot too but most of them...98% is an accident the rest oh well!!
Things just happen! I didn't wanted to kill any of my team mates...I'm looseing ponints, it's an @sshole thing to do. But it just happend!

One of the many "affirmative action" Warhawk players that got bumped up from 1st Airman (i.e., "I'm a noob class") to Commander in just one night. Funny thing, I didn't know "Video Game Geek" was a protected class under the U.S. Constitution...
