Lair enters Japan top ten

PS3 title takes number seven spot on first week in the charts

Sony's PlayStation 3 title Lair has entered the Japanese software chart at number 7, selling 22,000 units in its first week of release, according to the latest data from Media Create.

Top of the chart for the sales week ending October 14 was DS title Nishimura Kyotarou Suspense Detective Series: Deadly Intent, another new entry, that sold 61,000 copies.

Project Gotham Racing 4 entered the chart at number 25, and was the only Xbox 360 title to feature in the top 30, following Halo 3's earlier positive showing.

I just rented Lair this week. All I can say is that I'm not sure if I'm playing the same game that the reviewers have been talking about. The games not perfect but to give it the scores that it received is a shame. If I can't beat it before it's due back then I'm definitely going to buy it. I personally love the controls. If the 180 turn was a button and it had a map I wouldn't have many negative things to say about the game. I'm really enjoying the game but then again I love to experiment with new things. If your games have to a certain way then don't bother but if you're open minded then give it a try.

Must admit i was slight dissapointed with Lair when I put it on but got use to the controls and loved it, had to order a copy from the US. UK delayed until November due to rumoured non axis controls.

Played it through the PSP so it must be possible.

The hype was the main part of the dissapointment, I had the same issue with Halo3 which I ditched for PGR4(excellent) pretty quickly.

For once I have to agree.

Lair makes a good first impression, I rented it and couldn't understand the reviews.

When you start going for medals, and you're timed, the game becomes so bloody frustrating. It's fun and easy if you're taking it easy, the second you start taking that game seriously, the controls break on you.

I found myself liking Lair, until I started going for the Gold medals and discovered just how broken and out of tune the underlieing game mechanics really were.... Although that Maelstrom level was really, really, really beautiful.

I love Lair, it's anamazing game that everyone dismissed because they wanted to not have an opinion of their own. Shame, really. Japan gave it rave reivews and I believe it'll do very well in europe and Japan. America missed out on the best single player ps3 experience to date.

Anywyas, good to see that the Japanese actually give Lair and its controls a chance. Its a shame most of the US reviwers/gamers didn't do the same. Hoepfully the game will be sucessful in Europe too.

13 - Lair Controls

I am convinced that there are some playstations out there that are not synced correctly with the motion controller. That's the only explanation for all the comments I've read in forums from users who state the controller does not respond at all. I quote "I can't get the dragon to fly straight, even when laying the controller on the floor". By the way this is only 10% of the comments, 90% of users have no issues at all. I have this game and have absolutely no problems with the controls, the dragon responds to where ever I move my controller. For the 180 move the trick is to jerk the controller straight up and hold it there for a second, this works for me 100% of the time. This game is fun to play. I give a solid 7.5, for a flight simulator 8.0.
