Sony exec on Team ICO: 'pretty sure they're doing the sequel'

This less-than-a-confirmation statement from a Sony executive is shaky evidence at best, but fans of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus will grasp at any new information on the team's current project. OPM UK grilled Kaz Hirai and friends for as much as they could, but that's apparently the best they could unearth.

6 - I think their next title will really shine this time around.

The PS2 library was entirely too massive and oversatured with titles that had mass appeal. We're not quite there just yet, nor do I see us getting to that point until about Fall '09. Up to that point, I see this game getting a healthy amount of coverage once they're readly to unveil it, and it will surely be touted highly by Sony to strengthen the first party lineup in light of less 3rd party exclusives.

I still want to play SotC to be honest, but did play Ico, and although it was abit quirky, I can appreciate that sort of game.

Now all I need is another Dark Cloud and I'm set.

7 - last time around

Team ICO was limited by the hardware. this time around, the sky's the limit. with the care and precision they put into their games, i wouldn't be surprised if they came up with something absolutely stunning that no one expected and looked better than anything else available in the next 2 game generations (not console generations)

could you just imagine if they remade Shadow of the Colossus using a proprietary ps3 engine? think about the draw distances, the detail, the atmosphere. simply AMAZING.

8 - Theyve had....

more than 3 years since Shadow of the Coleuses. I doubt they would just be sitting and doing nothing for 3 years, i believe they are deep in development, and maybe a Christmas 08 release or 09 release. It is a smart move if they keep it quite so MGS4, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Uncharted, Heavenly etc. gets more media attention.
