Rumor: Ted Price To Leave Insomniac And Create New Development Studio

There is a rumor going on in the GameFAQs forums where member Ashunv claims that his friend was hired as an intern for animation a few months ago. He says that his friend claims that Ted Price, founder of Insomniac Games, and a good amount of others will be leaving Insomniac Games in favor of creating a new development studio. Apparently this decision was made some time ago according to his friend and will become effective later this year (After the release of the new Ratchet and Clank he is assuming). He has no information regarding Ted Price's new development studio other then the fact that it is indeed happening. Apparently this situation will be discussed on Insomniac Game's next podcast and an official statement will be soon after as he claims. So look out for the next podcast, maybe they will shed more light on the situation then the little information that his friend told him.

Why would Ted want to leave? Didnt he already leave Sony to form this studio? Why would he want to leave his OWN studio to start yet another one? He already has the freedom to do whatever he wants in terms of IPs and development. So this makes NO sense to me, like I said it's just a counter to the Bungie claims.

I'm justing posting the news I found could possibly mean that Insomniac Games is finally going to officially join forces with Sony? I really don't know. It's really not all that far fetched... David Jaffe and the heads of Naughty Dog were in similar situations and parted ways.

Insomniac is 2nd party, the studio funds its own project and works independently, Ted's studio could be Sony exclusive as well. it doesn't have to be anti-Sony or pro MS.

MS and Apple are publically traded companies. Gates and Jobs just own a ton of shares in each company and have positions there. As far as I know Insonmiac is a private company owned by Ted Price and maybe a few partners. What would be the point of leaving?

i was under the impression that ted price wasnt even working on ratchet, that he was working on resistance while another personw as heading the development of ratchet. or maybe its the other way around. ANYWAYS, this is extremely fake and no one should have much concern.

I heard the same thing...Kind of similar to Cliffy B working on Gears of War, while a lot of the company was working on UT3 the whole time...the next R&C game was being worked on in parallel to Resistance...people think they pulled this game out in about a year, but its been in development longer than that...it just recieved the back burner for a while during Resistances last few months...

Insomniac is really big...well over 100 developers...and Price built it from the ground up more or less...and it is still technically an independent company, he has just stated numerous times that the team prefers Sony hardware, and Sony's fans...but he took the lead of Resistance with the intention of making sure it is a successfull franchise...and gave the driver's seat for Tools of Destruction to someone else within the company...

I doubt its true...Resistance 2 will probably be announced soon after Ratchet ships...He has stated that the franchise was designed from the beginning to have several sequels, and several waves of DLC for each game...unless Resistance goes with him to a new studio, this whole rumor doesn't make a lot of sense...

this is completely unfounded and something silly a person created Insomniac is owned by Ted Price, he is also the president of his company. He might as well change the company name, unless. Sony wants to buy insomniac but if sony wanted to buy insomniac they would want ted price to remain.

I am loving how dumb this rumor sounds, the founder of the studio is going to leave his own studio to make another studio. I am assuming this brilliant rumor was created to counter the Bungie leaving MGS. Maybe next time people should look into who owns what, before commenting.

Insomniac is a INDEPENDENT studio, it is NOT owned by Sony. Fanbots.
