I played the demo twice now and love it. I cannot wait for this game and since it's less of what we seem to be getting all the time in the abrage of shooters, it's a refreshing turn for the better IMHO. This game is a muct buy for me and gets a easy 8.5 for its fun factor, great graphics, and controls that were easy to pick up.

1.3 - Folklore 8.5

Folklore is a type of magical RPG that not everyone will like. So, it's going to go under the radar of most gamers. I'm going to get it even though it's not a big title like RFOM or Warhawk.

And yes, I agree that six-axis works well with his game. At first I was making large movements. But then I figured outj that I just had to make small tugs on the controller and it worked just as good.

This is the kind of game that the critics give it a 7.5 but the gamers give it a 8.5.

I just hope it's 20 hours long and not 10-12 like most other games.

the demo was fun, but i always wondered if the full game would go further than the demo, or was that all there was to do gameplay wise. the story would have to be amazing to compel me to continue past the first chapter.

sixaxis controls were really coool.

PS: a 9 and a 5 are a little too far apart. im gonna wait for ign for this one.

eurogamer and they played the jap version
now honestly if you are going to play a jap game that is so heavily story based a sort of hybrid rpg/action game and then give the game a 5/10 then god bless you.

At least review the local version before you condem it. Imagine watching Schindlers List if you spoke no english and it didn't have subtitles.

Can't wait for this but damn those reviews are a mixed bag! I've played both the demos and loved every minute of them so I'm pretty sure this will be a winner for me.

I let a couple of friends play the 2 original UK demos (Keats and Ellen) and it was funny seeing someone who isn't used to the Sixaxis try to play it. In all fairness they well and truely SUCKED! They are pretty hardcore gamers (one of them works for a PC magazine) but they seriously could not get the hang of the Sixaxis concept. It was absolutely hilarious when they were trying to take the bigger ID's. The amount of over emphasis of the pad (with their whole body following suit) was a sight to behold.

After the demo, they were both disappointed but seeing the troubles they had with the control I'm not surprised. People need to get it into their heads that the Sixaxis is very sensitive. Softly Softly is the way to go!

Seeing the amount of extra DLC on the Japanese PSN (I think they are getting a total of 7 extra outfits and maps and a whole host of new ID'S) gives me high hopes that this game will be a winner for fans of action/rpg's

Well, since the 9/10 as an average for NHL 08 for the PS3/360 I start to question their abilities to review. NHL 08 is buggy and you sit with a nerve that it won't freeze on you, disconnect or whatever. With these errors, the game is not worth the high scores it has gotten. The bugs really are that severe to the whole experience. It's a real erectal kick as a hockey game, so I think it deserve a 9+ score if it wasn't for these major things.

You have HALO 3 being great, but greatest ever? Everything says it's a regular FPS with great online abilities. Reviewers going spastic and hails it to the skies. Bioshock, GeoW, Haze, KZ2, FPS, FPS. This leaves me questioning what's up a little. If it's an FPS they add +1 (where 10 is max) to the score? Way to go. I feel an urge to add at least +1 to the score when it's not a FPS being reviewed, or if it's EGM I have an urge to add +3 to it.

18 - the average would be low

if you include jap import versions in the list which metacritic clearly did with the eurogamer review. i understand that language doesn't make a game but you have to understand it to get full enjoyment surely. I remember clocking the first disk of mgs2 in japanese. the game was still great even with all the cut scenes being in a dialect i could not understand but i was still gripped. not sure i have that kind of energy nowadays. my point is metacritic should not include import versions scores in its list. I just doesn't seem fair.

to be honest i played the jap demo and the us demo. the jap demo (which i couldnt read) was actually a bigger demo with more battles and you experience the story outside of the netherworld. it was entertaining despite not being able to read a single thing. i really enjoyed the combat system. i used the jap demo to judge the battle system and the us demo to judge the story. put them together and this is an 8-9 game. if the game ends up being 35hrs+ with a great story, id consider bumping it into the 9.1+ range.

i think what the problem is the huge range in the scores. What it shows you is that 4 people came away with 4 different experiences. If anything this validates how useless and unreliable review scores are to gamers. What if these 4 reviews went to the editor of a mag and he decided to go with the guy who scored the game at a 5. Then this mag goes to publish and then N4G has this article that so and so magazine rated folklore a 5. So people become hesitant to pick this game up because their favorite game magazine said it sucked. And then the flaming and so on starts because some score on metacritic is higher than another. In conclusion i think review scores hurt the game industry more than help and demos are where its really at. I think if a magazine is going to review a game there should be a demo out for people to play to see if this guy is full of it or not.
