Gamespot Gives 5/10 to PS3 NBA 08

NBA 07 for the PlayStation 3 was a mess, clearly rushed out the door to make it to stores in time for the PlayStation 3's launch. SCEA has had 10 months to straighten things out for NBA 08--not a lot of time in the world of game development. There's no question that this year's game is better than last year's, but its gameplay is so laden with problems that it's still not worth your time.

I ado agree with you on GameSpot being the worst reviewing site. I mean, they gave 9/10 to BioShock while World In Conflict and Halo 3 got 9.5. All 3 are great games but BioShock deserves 10 at the very least.

And agree on their Two Worlds screw up. They really blew it when they gave Two Worlds 7... It's not the worst 360 game but 7 and 7.5!?

I have officially played all the 08 NBA (EA's,2k's and Sony's) games and I like NBA 08 and NBA 07 better than all of them.I think it has the best controls compared to the others.But thats my opinion.5/10 is unfair.

i'm not a big fan of NBA games but you know demos are awsome and so I tried all three of them. NBA Live 08, NBA 2k8 and NBA 08. I found NBA 08 to be a loooot more accessible. It was a lot easier for me to get into the game without having to learn all of the controls. I was basically able to pick it up and play right away.

So I was really surprised it got such a low score but if you read about it. It got mostly negative feedback from not having enough features (which the others have had for years) though I felt 5/10 was a bit harsh. Maybe other site might give it about 7/10?

NBA 2k8 is sweet. I switched from live. Ea is just a failure now.

NBA 08 is pretty fun, I like the shot meter and the game is really smooth. It has a nice feel to it. I just hope by 09 they start really improving it. I'll still be picking it up along with 2k8 just for the fun factor :D.

i played this DEMO & this sh*t looks awful. NBA 07 is way better than NBA 08 from what i see from the DEMOS. the graphics look sh*tty dont know why & the players also squat funny dont know what is up with that.

well i never actually played NBA 08 but if its similar to NBA 07 then its worse than horrible. id give NBA 07 a -10/10 (negative ten out of ten). the only thing this series ever did right was put Kobe on the cover. ill be picking up NBA 2k8 (although their cover sucked for the last 3 yrs Shaq? Paul? come on u can do better than that 2k, shouldve been either tony parker or lebron. hell even nowtizki couldve been better. chris paul was almost non existing last season due to injuries and overshadowed by williams improvement). NBA live 08 improved a lot but is still too arcade for me.

11 - I think this review was written for the Demo on the PSN

He had to have written this review for the demo and not the final game, I say this because this review is step for step talking about the demo I played today.
Well I have now played all 3 demos Live 2008, NBA 2k8, and NBA 08. Live has great player models but plays like crap. NBA 08 runs very smooth in 1080p and looks great in HD but not much detail though, and plays like a dream, NBA 2k8 is the best over all, It dose not have the visual detail of Live yet plays better, it plays wores then NBA 08 but looks better and has way more depth for career modes. Over all I think that NBA 08 is the most fun out of the three yet 2K8 has more for the hardcore NBA fan. And who buys NBA games? Hardcore NBA fans.

Graphics: NBA Live & 2k DESTROY NBA 08's character models, and yes, that is what you look at most of the time you play a basketball game.

Gameplay: NBA Live & 2k DESTROY NBA 08's physics system and controls (Live's right analog, jump stops, and post game work really well in the new game).

Replayability: NBA 08's saving grace as a game is that it has a great online support during the season. Replaying highlight challenges of the week? If the other games had this feature, no one would even pay attention to NBA 08.

The sad fact is, NBA 08 might be a decent basketball game, but that just doesn't cut it when you have such stiff competition.

now that ive played the demo for all three games i can safely say that sony's nba 08 has better gameplay than 2k or live. I can admit that it is featureless, but thats only a download away from being fixed. And bugs are only a download away from being fixed..so im not worried. but it plays so smooth and fast compared to live and 2k. And the shot meter is the greatest addition to basketball games ever. Now i wonder how ea got such good scores on madden when it had glitches and clipping problems and a shotty frame rate on ps3. Bias much?
