I have lost a lot of respect for some developers out there, but these guys continue to impress me. You won't find them trying to get customers by flaunting bigger breast sizes on their characters, and their art sense is incredible.

Why even bring up dvd9, why not just talk about how amazing the game is going to be. There was never any concern before about this nonsense. The ps3 doesn't have to worry about using up blu-ray discs as of yet. Why even mention something like that.

That comment was unnecessary and flamey. R&C looks to me like it's going to be a great game. Enough with the Flaming comments. The gaming industry has changed in a negative way, before it was just about the games and everything. Now they have to validate the use of the hardware, and that's just making the industry more b!tchy. Less talk about hardware and more talk about gameplay innovations.

Just like how they mentioned HS has 2 gigs worth of music...just so blu-ray seems like its really needed...im glad you pointed that out...no one questioned rachet and clank too not run at 60fps but i guess since the recent games it has too be mentioned with every ps3 game now..which is quite sad considering the ps3 is suppose too be the better console.

In the case of the quality of a videogame disc size does not matter if you think about. The problem with Sony is that they boasts about how much
more powerful the PS3 is over the 360. Instead of comparing BD and DVD9, Sony should be worried about MS position in the marketplace. They are allowing MS to overtake their business. With the 360 attachment rate at 6games/system developers would be crazy to overlook it. For developers, more money is made by releasing a game on the 360 at least now anyway.

It's not even a year old, mate.

If you want a PS3 game playing in 1080p and 60 frames per second, however, pick up Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

EDIT: 1. My avatar is from a painting of a character from a famous fantasy series.

2. There will be more 1080p games in the future, when development on the console improves.

3. 4D gaming is still possible. Perhaps we'll see a title with it soon.

Just in case you never heard of Ratchet&Clank or Insomniac for that matter, They have yet to make a game that has flopped. And this is from the PS1 days. They are a very reliable dev team kind of like Epic. They just don't seem capable of putting out crap (like EA).

I had no idea they were that amazing!

Are you talking about WARHAWK? If so, then let me tell you that it's a well spent 40$ my friend! I really think it's one of the best game available for the PS3 now. It's not a crazy rip off, for my point of view thought.

Concerning R&C, knowing Insomniac, it was a "must buy" right away for me. Same thing for Naughty Dog and Uncharted. Those 2 compagnies are great teams!

Back @ sonarus: You have some good points. But to me, the fact that you have multiple sections available on maps depending of the game type, ie: DM, CF, ZONES makes me feel like there is more than 5 maps available. Plus, you have to admit that the quality of those maps are great. It might be a bit expensive for the online buying, but for myself and my friend, we paid 40$ + taxes for the game on BR and the Jabra set @ BB. That, to me is a rip off against BB.

I play warhawk all the time and I think its the best 40 bucks ive spent on a game in a long time. Its a ton of fun, not a rip off for me. IF you like MP games then its hard to find flaws in such a great experience. Buck for buck I havent had this much fun with a console game in a long long time.

i hope you feel better bout urself. Quite frankly i could care about disk size. warhawk is 800MB and it still plays great. Resistance is 22GB and it plays great. Thats all i care about look good and play great. No matter how much negatvity you bring to this it still wnt change the fact that ratchet and clank will be an excellent game.

Why not just release an article stating the resolution and game features. How come Sony's first and second parties are always releasing the size of the actual game.

That's why Blue Dragon requires 3 discs, Lost Odyssey will come in 4 dvds, and UT3 will have less maps in x360. That's also why x360 will never have a decent racing game with not even 1/5 of the cars that GT5 will have because in a racing game you cannot have multiple discs.
So, I'm asking again, are we feeling a little bit stupid today?

#1) The supposed "padding" that you talk about is 420MB. That's 420 Mega Bytes.

#2) You do not even know what the supposed "padding" files are for:
5987712,>:\PS3_GAME\USRDIR \packed\movies\muxed\ntsc\auto _ generated_padding_20.bin

#2.a) Do not pretend that you know what these files are used for.

#3) Bluray has a constant read speed. You could argue about spindle seek speed, and location of data on platter. But that only really makes a play during random I/O seeks, or if you had fragmented data. You would not have a fragmented cd disc image.

#4) Trolling against this Ratchet & Clank, makes you look silly.

EDIT 2: Go to google and search: video muxed autopadding

Kinda exposes your myth, as autopadding is related to aligning the bytes in an MPEG packet stream... ;)

Since xbox does not have more capacity i.e. hd-dvd or blu-ray , it doesnt meen it is not needed

The point of blu-ray is to give flexiblity and potential to put better content in the game. alot of you fanboys like your self quickly bring up the point that more space = longer gameplay. In some cases yes i.e. games like unreal tournament having all the maps on one disc. But im quite sure developers are more concerned about making a game LOOK better.

Lets just say I can see all future ps3 games having uncompressed sound, uncompressed textures and more memory to add cinametics. All this adds to the woooo factor of the game itself. Im pretty sure square is working hard to put tons of cgi movies into their next final fantasy. It just adds to the package of the game.

The game maybe still 40-60 hours gameplay but im pretty sure the graphics and sound , and cgi will be much improved due to a massive capacity. Yes ive heard the argument that you can put multiple discs for one game, but lets say you have alot of textures and hi quality recorded sound on one disc, its going to take alot of memory hence you have to create redundant data on another disc.

Further more games like ut 3, lets say they have 30 maps, and hypothetically they take alot of memory each, can you picture yourself changing discs when the server changes maps for the next map , esp when ppl select random maps.

bluray has constant velocity so it doesn't need to be pushed towards the edges to read faster,

plus after playing the game and the amazing lighting in the game i can see how this game could take a little space. plus imsomniac does like 9 languages in their games so that also adds up..

i dunno why the space thing it's an issue for haters, if there's space why can't they use it.. do they have to only use 8gig so haters can be happy??

Shortax, you're probably right in saying that they aren't really compressing. The thing is, they don't have to right now. And because they don't have to focus on compression, they can focus on other aspects of the game. Of course, further down the line, developers aren't afforded that luxury. They'll have to compress like all the 360 games right now.

How do you think compression works? When you compress you remove certain bits of information that is spaced out in a way that the human mind can for the most part ignore, or form the full picture on it's own. In other words when you compress you are killing the detail of your product. What is the point of having an HD TV? Not having to compress means you can put out a product that can live up to the name of HD. You can have quality and quantity, when it would not be possible other wise.

Do you honestly think you can compress 22 GB into under 9 GB? That somehow you can reduce 250% of your product without any loss? Your theories don't look very good after someone explains them to you, do they?

You cannot say anything about the fact that it run at 60pfs, you cannot say anything about the fact that it runs in 1920X1080 interlace or 1280X720 progressive because those are facts. But since you really seem to have absolutely nothing to do, you talk about padding in Resistance!!!!

Please, if the 360 is so cheap in your little head, buy 3 of them so you always have one working. This way, you'll spend more time playing and less time trolling!

The 360 has an HD-DVD add on for playing movies but there are no games planned or announced on HD-DVD, only the awesomeness of the PS3 has large capacity for video games... Only RPG games like Blue Dragon go over a DVD9 and they'll only be able to do that for RPGs.
