Warhawk brings the "PS3 Out of it's Coma-like State" But Not Sure About "Lair" says Yahoo

Yahoo's Matt Slagle writes :

"It's been a long year for PlayStation 3 owners with very little in the way of new, exclusive content. As good as they are, "MotorStorm" and "Resistance: Fall of Man" are wearing thin for me. Finally, two new PS3 exclusives are available: "Warhawk" and "Lair." Being an exclusive game doesn't guarantee greatness. Five minutes with "Lair" makes that painfully clear."

I had a blast with the Warhawk demo and plan on getting the full game soon but am yet to play Lair so I dont know..

LAIR is def worth the money has far has Im concerned sure its not Warcrack but its a lot of fun.
Speaking of Warhawk the game is unbelievably fun esp in a 30+ player match Zones is my fav and flying is a blast. Cant wait to see some more maps and stuff.

WarHeroin is the one of the best game i've played in years, argubably the best multiplayer exp. i've ever had.. deeper than gears of war (which I have a poster of in my dorm room lol).. LAIR gets bashed wayyyyyy too much.. since reviewers can't get the hang of the cotrols.. it's easy.. that game has AMAZING visuals and is the most technically impressive thing i've played on any platform because of it's scale and stuff.. the prod. values are incredible, the music in the game.. both it and lair support 7.1 sorround sound.. in large-scale battles that is aural nirvana! i have 1080p and lair is the only game that has yet to justify that purchase.. i don't even particularly like dragons but lair is an amazing title

Liar is unlike any other game available and IF you don't want to bother learning new controls then you might not like it. I think that that is the case for alot of people who dislike the game but the game is GREAT. I am renting it from Gamefly right now but I am thinking about keeping it.

are you to soft to come up with your own conclusions? or do you take the word of yahoo games as gospel?

im not being a fanboy, maybe lair is sh1t, i dont know as i havent played it yet, but i will and ill judge it on MY OPINION of it not somebody elses, some of the best games and movies ive seen/played have recieved bad reviews, if i was mindless enough to take that as the be all and end all of it i would of missed out on some great things!
all im saying is that just because some guy says its crap thats HIS OPINION and people should try things for themselves. get it? why do you xbox fans have to try and relate people points of view to fanboy-ism...

5 - You need to play Lair

It's an excellent game. It took me about 30min to get the full hang of the sixaxis battle system after that I was into it big time. You'll like the story and the graphics speaks for itself. I would like to see a sequel. In all my gaming experience I really don't know why this game was slammed so much, but it goes to show that you have to trust your own judgement when buying games, and in Lair's case it was worth it.

What do you mean if you're able to play it? As long as you have 2 arms and hands you can play it. The game doesen't require a whole lot of movement. I played the whole game with the controller close to my chest barely making turning gestures and the dragon did what I needed it to. If you quirk and jerk and do things to fast then you'll probably end up like most of these reviewers crying that the controls are broke.

So the guy (and most reviewers) say Lair sucked. That's the general population. Then you Sony Bologna eaters say; "That's his OPINION. Try it for yourself."

Excuse me, but this same guy said Warhawk was great so....should people NOT try it because that's "his opinion", too?

If you're trying to say reviews don't count for anything then your absolutely WRONG. If you're trying to say reviews don't always nail it, then you are correct.

Reviews are valuable, however, especially if the majority of reviews state the same things. In Lair's case, it's the controls. Some people might find this a challenge and are capable of managing with it. Some may look at it as poorly developed and hate it. But at least the reviews gave you SOME insight before you go off and spend $60.

As for Lair, I think it was a pretty good game. Lair is definitely one of the better Playstation 3 games out right now. The people who gave it horrid reviews were either born with asses for heads or just didn't have enough time with the game or maybe they just suck at playing games that require you to get used to a new control scheme?

Lots of reviewers say the same garbage they want "simplicity" in games. That's what *they* want. Their shallow, biased opinions don't reflect the rest of us in the least. And from MANY forums and youtube comments I have read regarding Lair, the people who gave it bad reviews seem to be "bought" or just blind, crippled people.

to each his own. Some folks didn't like but I enjoyed beat and done. Even though reviewers are entitled to give it whatever they feel. gamers should always look into a game they might like, and not hang everything on a reviewers word.

Reviews can be helpful, but I have to agree that you have to test things out for yourself. Lair is a definite rental for me due to the poor reviews on the controls. Worst case is I love it and I’m out my rental fee and buy my own copy or the best case is I save my $$ for something better.

I know a 360 guy that loves the universally slammed “Two Worlds” game and I’m not going to call him a fanboy just because he likes something that most others gave up on

my brother, a minor, has a very strict game allowance.. about a game a month w/ the exception of ohhh, HAlO.. he skipped out on bioshock for two worlds and he despises that piece of crap and he's the biggest fan boy i know.. he talks his friends out of buying ps3s

11.1 - I never had a disconnect, I just either can connect or can't connect to a server

but once you get connect no problems no lag or anything. There are just so many people playing this game right now. With Heavenly Sword out now there should be less people playing all the time.

12 - Lair...

I have had a chance to play Lair and I must say it is an average game at best. No, its not the controls that have me turned off to this game (although they really dont help), its the way the missions are just thrown at you. You are randomly flying here and there with JUST THE MISSIONS. The story premise is great but just flying mission after mission take you right out of the story. I felt "uninvolved" during the entire game. too bad their missions arent set up with a little more depth and thought instead of saying "do this" and "do that". I wont go into the story but what you do in the game and what the character does in the cutscenes totally go against each other. It just throws the story at you and the missions are no better. There is little to no immersion in the game at all.

Oh yeah, and whats up with the targeting system? Why can I not choose who I target? All I can do is toggle between different things. The visuals are great, and I finished the story in about 6 hrs, albeit not "gold" but I did finish it and I should never be able to finish any game in less than 6 hrs. It gets a 6.0 out of me and I was really looking foward to this game. Too bad factor 5 couldnt tell a story to save their lives, and too bad their targeting system wasnt better, and too bad their missions arent set up with a little more depth and thought. Too often (about every mission) I stated "what the he!! was that? What am I supposed to do? and How did I complete that mission again?

Warhawk is the most fun Ive ever had in MP on a console. I cant stop playing it and I cant say enough good things about it. It could use more maps and they do need to fix the stats AGAIN (i havent been able to get my stats working since 9/8). However, the gameplay is fantastic and a lot of fun. The diversity in the maps, in the weapons, and in the vehicles makes for a great time. It gets a 9.3 outta me. If you dont own this game yet, you oughta do whatever you have to do to get it. I promise it will be a memorable experience.

sums it up just right

I like CTF. I was sitting away from the action with a TOW missle and i seen that guy with my flag. This team had there act toghter because they had a tank and some back up around there man. I shoot off my tow and hit the gas to get some hieght. I say to my team "be ready to get are flag back" and 4secounds later the tank and three guys on foot are dead and i hear "dam dude that was awesome" and im like "see ya at the flag"

I personally like liar and yes the controls are new but its something that you have to get use to. Maybe with the next installment (if there is one) you can get off the dragon and give that axe a good workout. Lair is ok in my book.

16.2 - Totally with you there.

I wanted to have the dragon to fly me to a shelf in a mountain. Enter a smaller dungeon to get that relic and then fly back to place it somewhere else or such. Would be cooler and more variety. Meybe even level the hero/heroine. So much work set to make it visually impressive they kind of forgot what's more important.

I've not played it but my impression lean to say these things.

Thats why prince of persia- sands of time was so impressive, graphics were nice, but the story got me,lol abeit a love story, just sucked me in though.

Think some more games could do with a touch of that. Lighten the mood so to speak, after all who wouldnt fight for their woman.

Heavenly Sword also pulls the PS3 higher. The game is amazing. The first chapter kind of sucks but they get progressively better as it goes on. Yes its short, but f*ck its fun. It is basically watching a 7 hour movie. I didn't put it down except to make food.
