PS3 Final Fantasy VII Remake date slipped?

Earlier today, the release date of Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation 3 system was set for 1/1/2008. Now it has changed again.

It's new release date is set too 11/01/2008 (November 1, 2008). Does 1UP know a secret that we don't know about?

If Square announces the FFVII remake as a surprise on TGS, not only the Japan will explode, te gaming world be heavily shaken.

1up have probably done this to spark rumours of a remake so close to TGS. Plus I just dont see how Square Enix could make this game, cause the FFVII team are currently working on FF Versus XIII AND the next Kingdom Hearts. Unless it is handled by a different team, I just dont see how they could fit it into their schedule.

I'm not saying 1UP is right or something but with TGS around, two quick release date changes...

And the fact that I said explode was about whenever Square announces FFVII remake. I can't imagine playing FFVII on HD with graphics matching FFVII: Advent Children movie. That would be a killer. One can wish, can't he?

I will be so happy if they actually do this, but there's no way in hell they can release it by the end of next year.
They said on the recent interview they're working hard on XIII now and "if" they announce the remake that'll be much later on.
I'm guessing this is some VII related game, like Crisis Core.

More than likely its just 1up starting more rumors. If there ever was a remake of the game it would take about a year or two you would think even if they started on it right after FFXIII and XIII Versus, and Kindom Hearts game it won't likely be finished until 2009-2011.

2 - No, They Haven't

EGM hasn't leaked anything. Their release date list is horribly inaccurate and undermanned. I use the site frequently to add games to my online collection and know for a fact that many games have dates that can be at least six months off -- even if they're already released! It's a real pain to remember to add a game you just bought to your collection six months down the road just because someone didn't bother to fix things on their end. The new date is most likely just a placeholder since the previous date, January of 2008, is fast approaching, and they wouldn't want people adding a game to their collection that didn't exist yet.

Square has been teasing us with a remake. Sometimes saying that they won't, sometimes saying that they will (Not in relevant terms but in teasing terms) =P.

Since when was FF7 PS3 announced in the first place? I know they had that CG trailer at E3 2005 I think, but they said they weren't making the game. Anyways, if they announce it at TGS, the console wars are over.

The wii will sell no more systems the 360s will all exlode and ps3 will win because square enix remade an old game?! Yeah right! Who says the remake would be on the ps3 and not the 360? After all the white engine is multiplatform. Final Fantasy 7 was a good game but will you still be surprised when you see Aeris die again?

I guess the only way to make your dream come true is to sign that petition - do a search on final fantasy 7 petition on n4g and you'll find it.

@Urban bohemian, sorry but your logic about people wouldn't buy a remake of an old game is flawed. Look how many people have been buying the Final Fantasy remakes on the DS, PSP and PS2 (FF anthology) They sold VERY well and they didn't really get that much of an upgrade, can you imagine if they went to town on the PS3?! If FFVII remake does come out, it WILL sell bucket loads! Every reviewer and journalists knows that and some have even stated that (IGN). Remember, some people believe that FF6 and FF7 are 2 of the best RPG's of all time.

About the White Engine, yes it is a multiplatform engine, but so is the engine used for Gears of War and Bioshock and these are still MS exclusive.

I don't think this will ever be on X360 since it would be completely stupid. (X360 in Japan...)

As for the Wii, MAYBE. The new controller and the poor graphics are negative things for a new FF game.

So I guess the best choice (if not the ONLY logical choice) would be PS3.

if indeed we do get a FF VII remake i have no doubt it would sell millions and be a certain system seller.
however are we forgetting one thing, it being a remake doesn't actually mean all those that bought and loved the game on the ps1 will want to do it again.
I am sure plenty would and there are plenty that haven't experienced it but some are just assuming that joe bloggs who played the game ten years ago will go out and buy a ps3 to play it again, we are a very small minority who post our opinions on here and we don't actually speak for the masses

Why does everyone want to see another version of this stupid game? The real series ended with 6 on a high note, and then ruined it with this game. If there was to be some other remake besides the gba version it would be on the ds not the ps3.
