Over all i agree that it is in a way a demo for GT5, BUT the amount of stuff in GT5-P (as far as we know that stuff) is much more full-game like than e.g. the famous GT4-P version that sold for FULL PRICE.
I am not fully into the story but i think it was something like 40 cars, 10 tracks and online racing + leaderboard etc

That sounds way more like a full game than a demo. Looking at the recent demos of NGS , GRAW2 and HS it does contain WAY more than these 3 demos combined. Still not enough to make me pay full price.

1.6 - GT Prologue not GT5 demo

Jeez, some people can't read.

A Prologue is used in books as an introduction to the main story. You don't get it for free.

A demo is normally free.

So GT Prologue is an introduction to the main story or game - GT5 - and will prepare the ground for what is to come.

Free or not. Who gives a damn? Only trollers it seems.

I just want to get my hands on GT5.

GT Prologue is doing its job very well indeed. Bring on 2008.

honestly i didnt think that it was gonna be free.....
Ill get it via psn if it isnt that big of a download.

I got the psn version of warhawk and i love it. Never have to worry about putting in a disc.

5 - If they charge $20...then that is ok...$40 is not because it is not a full game.

The real GT5 will be $60 sometime in 2008...

There is no reason to even make GT5 prologue on a bluray....just make it downloadable....

I am betting no more than $20 for this game...and its not a demo since it has at least 3 tracks, 40 cars, and supports 16 player online racing at 1080p 60 fps...something that no other racing game can do.

I fail to understand why "I have a feeling" was purposely replaced with "It seems" considering that the meaning gets warped quite a lot.

I don't mind paying up to $10. Hopefully they will give a discount on the entire game for those who pay for this. I doubt that will happen though.

Edit: After reading the article again, it says nothing about charging for the prologue. I still think that $10 would be ok but these guys have to work on their headlines. This is ridiculous.

If its the same as with GT4 Prolouge, as in full price $60 title when its more like a teaser for the real game then i will most likely abstain from buying. If its a bargain price at around $20 i will consider it, and if its free there is no second thought, ill download it ;P

That is hard to answer, as we don't know any specifics regarding the GT5 Prolouge version.

I can only compare it to the GT4 Prolouge release that came before GT4.

That one was more like a teaser than a full game, featuring only few cars and 3 tracks if i remember correctly. But as GT games have a history of being delayed it was the only way to get your hands on some GT4 fodder that time, so it ended as a bestseller regardless it was a full price for a "demo" deal.

For Gt5 we only know that it will have more cars than GT4-P and more tracks, and it will have online racing for the first time in GT history. That makes it way better value than GT4-P ever was, still it wouldn't make it worth $60 in my opinion. Hence i draw my line of interest at $20, anything above that and i am not getting it. I will get GT5 though, regardless of whatever GT5-P will be.

And to follow up on the post I made in the original "GT Pro will be free" article. I said I hoped they wouldnt end up charging after all this "free" hype, whether it was thier doing or not. Here comes everyone complaining, for one reason or another, and all the rest of the folks defending and saying it's worth it. I'm of neither camp, I thought it was be cool if they did it but I probably wouldn't pay for it if they charged.

GT5 Prologue is a full-fledged game. It has complete single-player, multiplayer, and online modes, as well as 8 tracks and 40 vehicles. While he insists that Prologue is "an overpriced Demo and Sony is ripping us off", we know that demos tend to have only one level and two or three vehicles at the most.

I think Sony should charge for Prologue, though not too much. $20 would be the perfect price point for both the Blu-ray and PSN versions.

23 - Why shouldn't they charge for it?

They should release a solid product where any types of achievements, car upgrades, career stats, etc. can be held onto when the full game arrives. It will have to be a little more than, say, the Forza 2 demo and have more than 1 track and a 15-20 cars to play, but it is intellectual property and they certainly should use the opportunity to help fund the full game and allow it to be the best it can be. I certainly don't think it should be too expensive, though... maybe 20 25 bucks?

Normally only released when the game is complete and about to be released.

Yes, that's COMPLETE & ABOUT TO BE RELEASED.

So.....

if GT Prologue is a demo then logically GT5 will be released immediately after GT Prologue is released.

GT5 likely released mid 2008. Do the maths.

even after the title has been shipped to retail. GT5 is not scheduled for release for at least 12~14 months.

Kazanori Yamauchi, creator of the Gran Turismo series, has already stated in press releases and interviews “GT5 Prologue is not a demo. It is a full-fledged game that runs on an early version of the GT5 engine.”
