US Playstation Magazine rates Lair 5.0; Warhawk 6.5

German gaming webstite Gamefront has posted an image of the latest Playstation Magazine issue, in which both Lair and Warhawk have been reviewed. Both games will be in stores at around August/September but Playstation Magazine does not seem very happy with both games, as the magazine rates Warhawk 6.5, and Lair even lower: 5.0.

In the image of the magazine, you can see that Lair is described as: "A one-trick dragon" and destroys it with a 5.0 rating. Warhawk on the other hand is described as: "A third-person shooter that never quite gets off the ground", and rates the game with only a 6.5. The image can been see below.

Sad news for me. I was actually looking forward to both of these titles. I am still going to rent them and try it for myself. A game does not have to be perfect for me to still enjoy it.

Oh well, good thing I own an Xbox 360 and a top notch PC. Cause Command and Conquer 3 on my PC as well as Bioshock will keep me entertained for a while. ;)

Also, cant wait to play the demo of two worlds!

Yeah, exactly. I don't put much stock into these reviews. I'll buy them and if they're right then I admit it but they are looking at something that I'm not and I haven't heard any justification for the reviews except

"I don't like dragons"
"It should have MP"
"It should have single player"

I totally agree about the triggers on the sixaxis there too flat and that makes it hard to press for long periods of time specially while playing racing games once my fingers get a bit sweatty they start slipping off. they should have curved them like the 360 triggers and for rumble that would be better too i played the 360 and ps3 ver of colin mcrae dirt and its better with rumble.

@aaquib2 get real the rsx is old about 2 years in fact and only has 256mb of mem the 360 gpu is new and has 512mb mem the ps3 only has 1 advantage over the 360 and thats blu ray.

....we get it....Microsoft payed them off so that both Lair and Warhawk got low scores. Stop saying it in every post you make. I don't believe that for a second....maybe...just maybe these games didn't live up to the hype they were receiving...or its a conspiracy against sony.....i think i know which one i would go with, but then again everyone can believe what they want. Got to say though i do think i will get warhawk just because i love online multiplayer games like this. Still any bad reviews hurts these games big time

8.1 - Sony pushed them to get it done.

It's not a bad thing, but Sony fell asleep and hasn't awoken, yet. So they set a tight deadline for their 1st and 2nd party developers. It's obvious that Factor 5 was pushed hard, so they had to take shortcuts to get it out the door. They literaly used the Rogue Squadron engine and replaced x-wing fighters with dragons.

I'm a confessed ps3 fanboy, but I have to admit I never expected crap from lair. But to give it a rating this damn is still BS It doesn't look to be THAT bad of a game. What the hell is wrong with those guys at PSM the warhawk review is going to go down in history as one of the most infamous reviews ever I bet. Well lets just wait till ign sicks there teeth into these games to get a good review(apparently the review down at ign for lair aint looking good, I'm not suprised)

You shouldn't pay money for a crappy game. I suggest you rent it beforehand instead of investing in a horrible game. You're just encouraging a sequel or more crappy games instead of helping the situation. You're also lowering your standards to what is a great game is which no gamer should do. I suggest you try a Xbox 360 to see if you would enjoy that console or buy Heavenly Sword.

I had decided to pass on Lair for a while, no real time to play it with other stuff in the Consoles. Maybe after the price drops on it. Warhawk though, WILL be downloaded on the 28th. Beta was a blast. I have little faith in reviewers, after I bought Perfect Dark: Zero for the 360 based off of high reviews. Reviews are subject to opinion and I have my own, so I don't really need theirs.

Really, who cares. Buy the game if you think its suits you, or rent it first just to be safe, but don't go based solely reviews.

There's a reason for the low scores, but that doesn't mean you will think the same.

Warhawk: Its a multiplayer. So the reviewer probably thinks that thats too simple without a singleplayer mode. Add the fact that he probably isn't playign with people online since its not released yet, it does take somethign away from the game. The whole point of warhawk is to have a level full of random people from around the world fighting. Everyone loved the beta, but a bad review changes all that? I think not.

Lair: When a mag reviews a game, they usually select people who like a certain type of game. Hal 3 won't be reviewed by hardcore ff fans, they'll be fps fans. They know the drill and what to expect and look for. LAir, at least to me, seems like a very different game. THe closest you can get to it is a jet fighter game or soemthing. So for a reviewer, this type of game is almost new territory, so it's hard to get consistant reviews, hence the 5/10-9/10 score range so far. It's either you like it or you don't, since you can't pick who will review it based on his likings.

HALO 3

and all the other top games prove that for ACTUAL GAMEPLAY CONTENT (before anyone throws Blue Dragon in there as it has lots of CGI) you dont need a HD disc.

I am surprised Heavenly Sword got raving reviews but Bioshock is still the top story Bioshock > Heavenly Sword.

9GB > 25GB/50GB LOL!

Who knows in a couple of years Sony devs will need 100gb of space for their 6/10 AAA titles lol!!!

Whilst 360 games will be on DVD 9 discs with 9/10 reviews oh and longer gameplay than 12hrs!

13.1 - I played the bioshock demo..it is good...and this game is the best game on the Xbox 360...

But Heavenly Sword is more fun than bioshock...Halo 3 will be the FPS on the Xbox 360...bioshock will be old quick..

There is nothing like warhawk on the Xbox 360...Warhawk is good. I was in the beta. Everbody who was in the beta liked the game. Sure there were issues in the beta...but the overall game was good.

Lair i know nothing about...i need to play a demo.

There is no way Halo 3 is going to look better than bioshock...but we are already hearing that bioshock in a short game....why? probably DVD9 space.

Halo 3 is going to be all about the online multiplayer.

These are fall/winter titles for the PS3 that was to drive hardware sales. It still will very well drive hardware but Sony needs to get their 'must buy' title. I will still get Warhawk but Lair is going down my list. This just means that Lair 2 will be better ;)
