Why not just drop the price in stead, so the consumer can deside for him self what games to by and some peoples does not even need a second controller?

Some consumers only want the blu-ray player.

This is turning into the Sega Saturn situation all over again!

edit: i should elaborate because some of you guys don't know how to look back into the past and see that Sega also offered games packaged with the Saturn as "value packs". That's all I was referring to; no negativity against the PS3's sales or anything like that.

Putting resistance in the pack is what they should have done from the very start-nothing on the ps3 beats resistance(currently) And putting a second controller is smart because every one owning resistance has a buddy wanting to play co-op garunteed. They just have to make sure that they leave the normal non-starter pack ps3's out there because like many have already pointed out theres people who might just want the cheap blu-ray.

Uh, I read the article. I was mainly referring to the fact that the Saturn came with games packaged in with it as a "value pack" back in the day.

And 360 fanboy? Yeah, kind of hard to be one of those when the only next-gen system I own is the PS3...

They should bundle the PS3 with SINGSTAR it would sale really well out in Europe. I know for a fact tons of people are going to buy a PS3 just for SINGSTAR out in Europe, its one of the biggest games for SONY in Europe(i know 360 fanboys are going to hate me and disagree with me like crazy but almost its just as HALO out there) people who don't play games bought a PS2 just for SINGSTAR out in Europe.

I will now come in a new starter pack.

why? because I don't offer anything to gamers.
I only offer to HD video fans.

I don't sell very well when I have no game to come with.
=(

people only see me as blu-ray player which only old folks use.
Now that I am comming with a game like RFOM, people will see that I am a gaming system. Hopefully it is not too late.

Because I'm in 3rd place and only realizing this now.

Its just a bundle its not like all they're going to do is sell the bundle, they will sell the system as a stand alone as well and i'm pretty sure that the 80gb will be dropped down to $500 this holiday.

to Value Pack, 'cause that's exactly what it is.

However, I am a little confused (and very disappointed) that they are not shipping headsets with every system.
The "virtual" explosion that will be HOME is coming this fall.
Headsets being used by everyone would complete the experience making it more immersive and much easier to communicate. It seems to me a necessity and only makes sense to ensure everybody has one.

Sales jumped with the first value pack. Since many are waiting for HS, why not score with the value pack? The PS2 had those as well - and it worked then too. There was a GT4 value pack, a MGS2 value pack. Could be that it was just in store promotions, but it offers good value. The XB360 had bundles as well. The PS3 value pack is great value.

Funny that at the moment the kids play a lot of PS2 games on it - R&C, Star Wars, Lego Star Wars etc. The Euro model with SW BC is great. I cannot point at any game in my around 40 PS2 games collection that does not work. They load faster, better frame rates in general.

If you don't have a PS3 yet, get one. The one thing that amazes me is the quality of the BR disks. Not a hint of a scratch or wear on them. And the PS3 reader seems very good quality. Many of the PS2 games that the PS2 could not read anymore works perfectly. For a PS2 owner that wants to migrate, get a PS3. Great new games, and BC that works with basically all the PS2 titles. Event the ones that I checked on the web site that is marked as having issues works perfectly. This is with firmware 1.90.

the ps3 system is already lower in price in japan.and games like hot shots are helping phase out the 60gig there.

korea got the 80gig right off the bat.no need to phase out anything.

in america,sony released the 80gig and dropped the price of the 60gig to $499.and what happened?gamers bought the 60gig and got the 5 free bluray movies.

but in europe,the system hasn't been out as long as america or japan.sony has to figure out a way of phasing out the 60gig there.they could drop the price.but if you give them the same system with 2 games and 2 controllers,that's fair.i didn't get 2 games or 2 controllers from sony nov. 17 2006.

once all 60gigs are gone,you can introduce the 80gig as standard and have a $499us or 499euros or less worldwide.then if you want to upgrade your drive,then hey,it's on you.but 80gigs should be enough for any gamer for awhile and sony loses no money changing from 60 to 80.and the gamers benefit from NOT having to PAY more just for 20gigs more,an extra controller and 2 games.

win for sony.win for gamers.any ps3 bundle for the same price is a good deal.
