I don't trust 1up with PS3 reviews, they are all xbots. All the negatives that they expressed were all their opinions, how does it make the game bad?

"They thought the dragon was a re- skinned x-wing" - So x-wings flap their wings now? They don't know the first thing about 3D modelling and texturing.

"The dragon shooting fireballs was odd and wasn’t realistic enough" - Real dragons apparently don't shoot fireballs, seems 1up have evidence of mythical creatures not shooting fireballs.

"The game had no map and someone asked if the graphics were good and he said “its High Def” and he didn’t like the colors used,everything was brown and Grey." - Not everything in real life is bright blue and red.

"They didn’t like the art style and said the game lacked innovation." - So that means every sequel ever made also is crap inluding Halo 3, MGS4, Mario???

They need to publish a retraction in my opinion, these comments show how biased they were before they even reviewed the game.

EGM sucks, they've become a farce of a magazine.

To me, Gamespot = EGM = 1up. And, thus, I fully expect Gamespot to give Lair a poor score as well (7.5 or below). All 3 entities (GS, EGM, 1up) are owned by CNET and all 3 suck.

The review crew at EGM gave the game a low score because they slept with the dragon in Lair and it gave them herpes. ¡STFU!

Motion controls were "cool?" Throughout half of their reviews, all they ragged on was terrible controls and poor ground combat! Either these guys are hypocrites or this is total BS.

Tell me this, if the motion controls are garbage and the dragons are too difficult to control, then why in all the gameplay videos do I see no one having a hard time controlling the dragons?

I can see the dragons and fireballs stuff... it did seem a little off. Maybe thats what they were fixing with the delay- it would be possible to do that. Art direction and colors go hand in hand and is absolutely SUBJECTIVE.

I find it strange that they thought motion control was "cool" all of a sudden. If they didnt like the art and color thats fine. I think its kinda cool.

Also, I think they may be right about a map... however, if they think that the fireballs arent realistic enough why would they want a map? I didnt know that dragons came with radar now.

Its good to hear that ground combat is fun.

They said motion control was cool.
The ground combat was well done.
No mention of frame rate indicating it was stable.
They liked the epic scope of the game.

BAD

the reason they delayed after going gold and after the first few reviews has nothing to do with the reviews? Your kidding me right?

They saved the game by delaying it because it probably would've kept getting low scores because of the flaws in the game and would have destroyed itself. Now they delayed it they can fix it as best as possible and hope that this time it works out better.

No thats a totally different situation. Having a game thats part of a trilogy feel like the other parts but still adding and getting better, is far different from making a new IP and having the game feel and play like your old one.

Like what if after MGS4 was done they made a new third person game, and it played just like MGS4. (yes i know MGS rules)

I don't get how your confused by this.

If Gears of War keep the same squad based, tatical skirmishes throughout the entire series, but expands on it as they evolve the Franshise, and then all of a sudden UT4 plays the same way with different skins. UT4 would get hammered for just being a copy of Gears.

Meybe i'm just not understanding you, but Gears and UT3 are very, very different games. Gears is a slow paced, tactical, team based, third person shooter, while UT3 is a fast paced, first person shooter, with no tactics involved.

My question is, does the bad things they note about the game warrant the 5.5 average score? They liked the story, combat, and control,well they slammed the controls in the review then said they liked it in the podcast. Aren't those the most important elements to a game? The game could very well suck. It's entirely possible, but the reasons they give just don't justify the score. Please, tell me if I'm wrong.

Exactly, I agree with this 100%..

Sure, I support the PS3, everyone knows this, and I don't expect Lair to be popping up 10's you know. Even if it sucks, it wouldn't bother me, I didn't like Rogue Squadron or Rogue Leader, if I got this game, it would be to put my 72' 1080p TV and 7.1 surround to the test. But still, to see a game that might be enjoyable to play, might be skipped over because of a review is sad. I really see this game picking up high 7's or low 8's at least.

They:

A) Lied/Contradicted themselves about the review
B) Gave it a poor score because they are being system biased(he clearly stated he doesn't have PS3 but gloated about having a X360)
C) Played a "preview" build and reviewed it as an "review" build negatively

I guess that why you have to take game reviews with a grain of salt because they used about a grain of intelligence in their review of Lair.
I don't think I've ever heard such terrible reasoning and back peddaling about a game. "I like it but I also hate it"

Dragon fireballs should be more realistic...to what, actual dragons? What zoo is he going to that has actual dragons?

Cannibis and game reviewing are a poor combination.
