1.1 - Yea.

It would be unbalanced for people with controllers and also, I'm not sure if they would have inter-console chat. But I do want to be able to make mods to share with my friends on PSN, so I might get it for PC just for that. Although if they had inter-console chat, or if there was a firmware update out by then, for in game xmb access, then I would only have to get it for PC. With in game XMB access, I could chat with my friends in a chat room, while fragging them in game. Of course, just a possibility. But yea, not sure if it would be totally fair.

It seems we have to let EPIC know we want it. So get to it!

If the PS3 version does end up supporting mouse&keyboard, as has already been mentioned by EPIC, and EPIC makes sure all cross-platform multiplayer games run at the same speed, why not?

The idea of mouse and keyboard support sounds more like a given than a possibility, as the PS3 has built-in USB ports for USB compatible keyboard and mouse.

The PS3 may be outrunning some of the PC's in the beginning because it takes a beast of a machine to run it.

I think after awhile most people who played enough would end up being good enough to take on a PC player. You would have to wait and see though.

or just servers with ps3 vs pc will have that limit. :)

The PS3 version has a subtle aiming help system so it would even out to the same as mouse/keyboard pc users.

...you're talking about the same guys who are making both the PS3 and PC versions. The article mentioned that Epic is going check and see if cross-platform connection is feasible for UT3, regardless of the possible technical hurdles in which they probably already know. The only people who can truly say "it's not gonna happen" are the Epic people themselves.

How would this be a killer to live anywhere? Seriously, whats going to make ps3 vs pc any better than xbox360 vs pc. The fact that you guys finally may get a game in which was built on a pc for pc gamers then ported to ps3 and xbox360 is going to end up in complete domination for PC. I mean it's like valve porting over counter strike to a counsole ad forcing them to use a controller. PC has been there so there always going to own. Most console games out today have autoaim in multi player cause console is slower paced gameplay. The auto aim isnt enough to lock on to someone anywhere but to kind of show you the way to get a kill in close quarters combat.

So what if the current gen. of consoles are a bit slower than the PC and multi-plaform matches would never work? That is pretty much saying that consoles don't evolve over time. Remember, car racing sims, FPS, RTS, and others were once the domain of the PC gaming world, due to obvious technological differences. Now you see those genres sucessfully ported in both consoles. Consoles may be a bit slower than their PC counterparts, but those issues would be resolved in the next generation of consoles.

The bottom line is that gamers still get to be gamers and enjoy what "we" want: The great electonic crack called video/computer games. Unless, of course, you consider PC gamers as the "true" gamers and console gamers as "wannabe" gamers.

The reason I said it will be a Live killer isn't because of the PS3 version. I love all consoles but since I've always been a fan of Unreal franchise from the very first game on PC, I may end up getting UT3 for PC BUT my point is that when a developer like Epic can find a way for cross platform play between PC and the much different and hard to program machine like PS3 and do it for free as has always been Epic's strategy, it could be a seriously fatal blow ot Live which is between two similair Microsoft products.

They did this with dreamcast quake 3 vs. pc quake 3. The pc players would always own, the controlers are too much of a handicap. I remember it wasn't even a challege playing vs dreamcast players.

Then there would be no use getting a pc for this game. I would be able to play the better ut3 players with kb/m on a ps3. Now only if crysis, and starcraft 2 implement the ps3 kb/m, I would never need to upgrade

Why don't they just make servers that are cross platform, and servers that aren't. That way if you think your game is up to taking on the PC gamers, you can. Personally, if I could only have it one way, I wouldn't want any cross platform. I used to be a PC gamer, and can not control the controller with the same precision that I could with a keyboard and mouse.

It's funny how console people think the mouse and keyboard is hard and the PC think the controller is hard to play with. I can agree that there should be different servers for cross platform and just PC play but I dont think thy want to pour more money into more servers. Also I dont want to play people on cross platform because it's going to turn into a clusterf*** if they cant balance the controls on each and ps3 has no mics to comunicate

exactly...I think it would be great if you knew what servers did what...meaning if they were PS3 and PC, or just PS3, or just PC...it has been loosely confirmed that the PS3 will be using the same master servers as the PC anyway...resulting in the ability to download mods and maps from the servers themselves, even on the PS3...But if the server lists would tell you what platforms were allowed on them...it would be perfect...

overall it wouldn't be a bad thing...if it takes a keyboard and mouse on the PS3 to keep up with the PC guys so what...and if you didn't feel like playing PC guys you wouldn't have to...in the end though it would simply make the UT3 community larger and more unified...

too bad XBL is all locked up...Epic would probably have been the first developer to push for cross console gaming...PS3 vs. 360...there are few things in gaming that would be that cool...but MS would never allow that...

If they were to implement ps3 to pc it would be a disaster. If im right ps3 doesnt have mics to communicate, and in games like this it's very important to have communiation. It will completely ruin the game if you dont know what every is doing then your screwed and typing doesnt help.

Alot of people are asking why or how the ps3 may slow the pc down it's a simple answer. Just like in shadowrun cross platform play pc to pc loads alot faster that pc to xbox360. THis is my guess but the reason thats its slower is because your loading two alike games from two unalike systems, meaning that the more a pc has to do to configure all it's files to work right with a ps3 it's going to take longer find games and good servers. It's a really confusing thing to explain but it does slow down the process for the PC a little bit, but everything is going to ride on peoples connections and how well the servers can take the load.

I disagree with the mics...Consoles made mics popular...I still hate them...They would be great...but I get so tired of searching for people's names to mute them all the time...if people wouldn't abuse it, it would be great...but sadly...more than half use it just to screw around...

I have played tons of PC games that never had mic support...Starcraft...Return to Castle Wolfenstein...Battlefield 1942 and 2...are probably three of the more team based games I spent a lots of time with...and if you are not messing around, it is very easy to work together and do things as a team...and I have played every Unreal game ever made...never was in a position where I thought I needed a headset to get things going...

now this is all assuming that the PS3 version will at least have a quick chat feature...meaning you can type stuff to teams if you absolutely have to...I will miss not being able to macro stuff, so one button says where the flag is going or something...but if you can type messages during gameplay...I don't see any need for hearing annoying kids breathing extremely heavily...

Microsoft better change their philosophies a little bit if they hope to offer a similar or better experience on the XBox 360 then the PS3. Mods are great and all (as long as some decent ones come out for it of course) and cross platform gaming would be a big boost to UT3. But mouse and keyboard, now that would be sweet. But we won't be seeing it on 360. Microsoft is just too stubborn. The PS3 looks better and better everyday (once more games are out, of course).
