Analysts: Wii To Outsell PS3 By 4:1 In June

Ahead of the July 23rd release of June sales figures from NPD, Wedbush Morgan and fantasy video game prediction market simExchange have released their predictions, calling for at least a 4 to 1 outselling of the Wii compared with the PS3.

Wedbush's Michael Pachter has said he expects sales in June to rise 8 percent to $480 million from 2006's $444 million. The estimate calls for $325 million in sales of new platforms (PS3, Wii, 360, PSP and DS) and current generation software sales of 155 million.

Looking specifically at the PS2, Pachter says he expects software sales of $125 million, down just 19% over last year, with a continuing "strong slate of mass-market titles" released over the past two months.

1 - Just a FACT - after just 100$ pricecut PS3 is outselling even Wii on amazon. =)

I reeally don`t know for how long ps3 with 499$ price would outsell Wii, but for now it outsells.
Also, most must play games are not yet released on ps3. :)

Yeah... I also seem to remember Xbox fans saying the PS3 would not hold the first place for more than a day or two on Amazon.

I think in all fairness to Nintendo, the problem can be largely attributed to a complete lack of Wii stock actually available on Amazon.com.

I also think that the PS3 $499's amazing selling could be much more than a soon-to-end trend, but seeing as Sony discontinued that model the holiday season is still very much open to any console champion.

5 - You can't stop the Wii

Bash the Wii all you want. Nintendo is doing good things this generation. Getting people who have never played games to play them.

They will expand the market. If anything they saved the industry from becoming stale and crashing.

Nintendo did the exact same thing back in the day, when they saved a dying industry from Atari.

but for a gamer the wii is kind of embaracing with low graf games and haveing nothing except there 3 famous franchise. I they would at least have put in capacity of the 360 it would be a good console for gamers two, not just children and first time players...

11 - Looking grim for Sony

Sure - Sony finally has some games coming out but the XBOX 360 is going to get a price cut (probably $100 across the board) this fall and has a lot more games. Don't be surprised to see FF on the XBOX 360 cause the sales of the PS3 are just too low. Problem is simple - the PS3 is too expensive. That is why the Wii is selling (although I don't understand why - better off with a PS2 IMHO), even though it is way overpriced. Once the 60 g model is gone, back to $599 without backward compatibility (which is a minor deal) and then probably a price cut to $499 this holiday season. But $499 is still too high.

Third party are going to be forced to delay the PS3 releases to save developement and get a better ROI - which is a kiss of death. I could be overly concerned but I think things are going the wrong way fast for Sony.

Don't know why people is so excite about the Wii.. I bought it just because all the hype...and truly one of the worst investment I've ever made. The controller is suck, and I mean it really sucks. My kid played for an hour, that's it. My PS3 collects dust after I finished RFoM and Motorstorms. The only worth gamemachine out there is my newly build 2500€ PC :)

the wi is a different system to the ps3 its got a short shelf life its like comparing a quad core pc to a ds handheld no comparison what so ever lets face it its gonna sell well because of price and the games made for it
your not gonna see mario fall of man on it the first pizza shooter
where the ps3 can offer all types of games its got much more to offer and as years go bye the price will keep droping

The only reason why people are even considering buying the wii first is because it's cheaper and people are still not which system to get when it comes to HD in gaming consoles.
In my opinion PS3 is the way to go obviously by the improvement at E3 and the Tokyo Game Show Sony has proven to be the best when it comes to technology.
