PS3 "Closest" To Expressing Square Enix's Vision

So what if Square Enix isn't gracing the PS3 with a game until 2008? So what. Final Fantasy XIII is married to PS3 hardware. Just listen to Square Enix character creator Tetsuya Nomura (above, into jewerly) drone on about the PLAYSTATION 3:

It's not just about how pretty the graphics are but more of how much limited amount of movement we can put in one go and how big our imagination and ideas are. The PS3 is the machine that is closest to being able to express our imagination.

See, the PS3 is not expressing their imagination, because Square Enix's imagination is way too big for that. Just look at all the games they release! Rather, the Sony console is CLOSEST to achieving that. And for you to play Square Enix's immense imagination, you're going to have to wait, not rush things and take it nice and slow.

About topic, well it`s nice to hear, but it would much nicier to see, what they achieved, that isn`t possible on x360. :) Really curious, i hope both game Lost Odyssey and FFXIII will be shown on E3 and people will be able to compare the level. :)

You xbots can say all you want, but now you know that you ain't getting this hot stuff called FFXIII. And you can count MGS4 out too.

The 360 can't handle this hotness, if you had these games on the 360 than your 360 won't give you the "Ring of Death" but instead give you the "Explode of Annihilation". And then you won't be able to revive it with your towels unfortunately.

This should come as no surprise... and no real disappointment in my mind.

But that's only because I've never become obsessed with the strange worlds created by SE, and the FF series.

They were great back in the day on the SNES and whatnot, but I can't keep up with the fantastical Japanese universes and their off-center humor, and little girls in their panties and short skirts.

You make it sound as if it were a bad thing. You do understand that it's a legitimate artistic style that has emerged from a specific culture, their customs and philosophy.
Given the fact that they're at far East, far east from Greece, the origin of our culture, it is natural that it's different and that it feels strange to us. There's nothing wrong with it.

I often feel silly playing those games too, but I actually enjoy the feeling, the same as I enjoy familiar warmth when I play a game from the West.

My point is that "panties and short skirts" as you put it is not some kind of an attempt of being cool to the westerner by "trying to be different and colorful", it's become from its genuine Japanese heritage, the same as our games are influenced by our western heritage.

Well, I can't wait to see some African games! That would be fantastic. Will their poverty ever stop?! I'm kinda uncomfortable sitting here, eating a stake while those guys don't have enough of what to eat, let alone make games!

I imagine the large portion of square stock that sony owns has nothing to do with this. In the end i would rather it be exclusive so more focus can going into the game. The game looks amazing!

In order for me to play through an entire FF it needs to have a really gripping story line, just like FFVII and FFVIII. Plus Sephiroth was one of the baddest villans in game history, too bad they have had trouble creating good villans in recent games.

trying to jusify that your system is capable of handling this game, even if it could handle the graphics, it will be on multiple disc like it or not.

I would have to agree with the IGN PS3 Podcast, I think that it's an 80%(stays exclusive) 20%(ports to X360)

Sony doesn't want to let go of this franchise that got reinvigorated on the Playstation brand.

that nay-sayers of the past look like idiots now. Looking at the graphical quality of some recent games, i wouldn't be surprised if Final Fantasy XIII ended up looking as good as the 'CGI' footage that was shown for it. There's no doubt Killzone will impress graphical, when naysayers were saying it's impossible to reach the target video. We'll see. Case in point, when they remake FFVII, its gonna look absolutely incredible. They will remake it, and its my most anticipated title yet. MK_Red is right aswell, FFVIII doesn't get enough praise. Its a brilliant game. But FFVII is still my favourite

It's a good thing for the PS3 to have some exclusive 'blockbuster' titles.
I haven't bought a PS3 yet because of too less 'wow' games. I have great hopes in Heavenly Sword but FF XIII will still take a long developing time.
And maybe it will not be so good at all. I like western RPG's like Mass Effect (hope so). Square Enix took a long time to learn a bit from western RPG's about playability. It took more than 10 sequels to drop random fights and 'invisible' enemys. Modern RPG's should give you a lot of room for different decisions (with consequences) and freedom in the world.
Too much prerendered movie stuff is also very last gen and no fun at all.
They knew how to tell a great story (VII at best) - combined with the capabilitys of the PS3 there's potential for sure.

for a RPG like FFXIII I think even 50GB isnt enough..

patience. Companies like Square, Kojima, Team Ninja, Polyphony and Insomniac are going to make us all very happy PS3 owners in the near future. Now that Tetsuya Nomura has expressed his undeniable faith in the capabilities of the PS3 in re: to his creations we could see things line up that we never imagined.
