Killzone PS3-Second Intention and Guerrilla

It's hard not to post about these minute details that are popping up about Killzone for the PS3.

A couple of weeks ago killzoneunit.com learned of Guerrilla Games at the Develop Conference, this week thanks Epix at PS3Forums, killzoneunit.com learned that Second Intention has worked with Guerrilla Games on "graphics technology research".

Although they've completed their contract in 2005, they have continued working with Guerrilla Games on what we assume to be the lighting system for Killzone on the PS3.

Yeah, this was real intriguing info. I read about it last week on the B3D forums, great stuff! This pics they have there are super impressive and if they are an indication, the KZ2 will have fantastic lighting.

Well all i want is a solid shooter. The ps3 has so much untapped potential its about time someone starts tapping it. If sony start releasing games that are on another level on ps3 then 3rd party devs will also have to step up their game to match sony. The real question is can sony sell enough units of their ps3 to even warrant the spending of such huge amount of money on real next gen games. I certainly hope so. For this reason i bought a ps3 not for blu ray but for games that will make me feel that i am playing next gen. SO far in my opinion far too many games have been hitting the 360 and ps3 that should have probably jst stuck on the xbox and ps2. Games like gears of war, motorstorm and fight night are really the only games that have made me feel like i am truly playing next gen. Don't get me wrong am not saying the other games arent great but i expected a larger leap in game quality and so far i havnt really been impressed. However i have seen some promising stuff. eight days??? not sure but ratchet and clank uncharted heavenly sword, mass effect, lair and some others seem to show promise.

when a the video from E3 gets posted and OMG it turns out that Sony wasn't lying after all. What will be even funnier will be watching all the xbots go into massive denial about the REAL POWER of the PS3.

but if the graphics arent the same as the trailer (or extremely close) prepare to hear about from the 360 boys..for a long time

7.2 - the PS3 is quite capable

of what we saw in 05, you see hints of whats to come in Resistance,Fight Night Rd 3 to name just two games that present similiar graphics to what was shown in 05. Resistance comes closer in that it is somewhat the same type of game and FNR3 shows us the facial animation possible on the PS3.

sorry xbots FNR3 on your box doesn't come close to the PS3 version.

I do beleave Killzone2 will be able to match the trailer, it'll probably surpass it. I probably watch the trailer about a hundred times and I do think it's real, just look at the eight days developer presentation, can you say WOW

Can someone post where Sony said that the E3 2005 trailer of KZ was how it "would" look or how they would "like" it to look. I hear a lot of quotes about Sony lying and I follow gaming news pretty closely, and I don't remember hearing Sony saying anything. I want to believe it was the reporters that began the Hype. If someone can furnish that then I thing a lot would be explained when it comes to 360 fan hate of Sony.

I agree with you, media and (ahem, ahem... others) decided to announce Sony had said the game was meant to look like the render when in truth the render is the concept behind the game. This doesn't mean that the game won't look like the render however and I believe we can expect to see something totally new and jaw-dropping come E3 this July.

The reason this started is because the subsequent media coverage of an interview (I believe IGN) with Jack Tretton quotes only part of his response where the interviewer asks about the validity of the E3 videos. Tretton says, "oh yeah that's all real gameplay" This portion of the interview was soundbited as if that was all Tretton said. In truth he continues by saying "In fact Ted..." this refers to Ted Price, president of Insomniac.

See Tretton was talking about Resistance:FOM NOT KILLZONE. Yet, everybody believed he was speaking about the Killzone and Motorstorm CGI. Thus, it all got out of hand. To my knowledge, only the Resistance, Eight Days gas station, Getaway, FF7, UT3, and Fight Night demo were announced as realtime demos. Any other game demo was 'target render'.

Thats what I figured bro, I was just trying to make a point, and that point is that all the Sony haters need to just quit using that as an excuse not to like Sony. The truth is usually much less controversial and of course less interesting than if you take things out of context and blow them out of proportion.
I guess I just like to let the truth out on this site every once in a while, because it seems like MANY, not all but many in the 360 camp like to paint Sony as being some huge deceptive corporation when in reality they should turn the mirror on MS and see how pleasant their beloved corporation really is.

I loved Killzone: Liberation so I'm very optimistic of how Killzone 2 will turn out. Imo, it doesn't need to match the CG trailer from 05, but at least show me some jaw-dropping graphics and gameplay and really define ps3's next-gen capabilities.

one little thing I want to add about the famous trailer shown at E3 '05. I do believe the graphics will be achievable, the graphis were really good, and its something that I've seen other games get pretty darn close to. What I am not sure of is the way it played, the way the character moved and reacted. It was all so fluid, the reaction of the teammates, the running up the stair and looking down, thats the part i wish is in the real game, but we'll have to see.

There sure are a bunch of 'ooohs' and 'ahhhs' for never seeing a scrap of the real game.

I'm not a hater, I'm just saving judgement until I see evidence. Even if this game is killer though, it won't be enough for me to buy a PS3. Thats the general feeling I get among my friends, who are all more Sony fans than myself. No one is really even talking about a PS3, except for fanboys on sites like this. I'm sorry I just think it's going to take a lot more than one killer app to breathe new life into this console.

It's my opinion and I'm sure many of you will hate me for it.
