Sony San Diego Shifts Developers To PSN Games
14
Talking to Gamasutra as part of an upcoming San Diego Studio Tour series, SCEA producer Jim Molinets has revealed that the San Diego studio's internal team has "shifted focus" from large-scale PS2/PS3 titles into three PlayStation Network PS3 downloadable games, underscoring Sony's support for digital downloads.
Molinets explained to Gamasutra: "Internally, we have shifted our focus from doing large-scope PS2 and PS3 titles to doing PSN titles exclusively. We've got three smaller groups now, and they're all doing very differentiated products with different requirements."

Yeah definitely...I hope they become more well recieved once more people get a PS3...Callin all Cars is great imo, but barely anyone is playing it online anymore...
And the toilet floaters that are the old arcade remakes (minus MKII) need a home somewhere else...not that these developers had anything to with them...

I sort of stopped playing Calling all Cars when I got into the Home beta, but I was getting whooped anyway. It is still fun though.
Add me if you want to play. TDub0187

I love this idea - I think Warhawk will be a great way to show what PSN can do. I love the idea of having a list of full games I can choose from on the XMB, without having to use discs.

4 - dude
Guys...Warhawk is the first game to show that digital distribution is the way of the future for gaming. The BETA is freakin' GREAT! It will be well worth the buy.
Someone mentioned home (Snake_Doctor...thank you) After playing the BETA for it...I think it will definitely move PS3's during the holidays!

5 - THIS IS A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.....
...... and thats what i believe is the purpose of PSN and LIVE in the 1st place.this is what MS should have done when they introduced arcade games 2yrs ago instead of the same classics we can download for free.

I love how this time around Sony is really going after a Online service and making such an effort to make PSN great. Is great news to my ears. So I for one hope that there will be many great PSN games that will come out soon.

9 - well i think that Sony this Time around is showing people how to USe the Hardware in PS3, unlike last gen when it was the 3rd Party making the most out of the system, with sony doing little to help...
remeber there model was improve on the PS1, the gave the devs PS2 and left them stranded with a dificult piece of hardware to code for but after a year Devs found it quite well to expliot power and really brought out some imaculet work. look at tekken and DMC and ports like RE4 and prince of persia, and final fantasy and MGS. of course sony's own teams caught on and thats why we have Games like God of war 2 that can stand toe to toe with next gen games out right now.
but this time around Sony is leading by example of how Games should look for their system and they are doing a good job. and believe me Devs are starting to see it, team Ninja and Free Rad have already started showing proof of it's power, it's only a matter of time before other start exploiting it the way Sony is. and i think after Killzone, and HS and UNCHarted and Rachet and clank, people will begin to see how Sony will aim to push PS3's evenlope even furth.
keep it up... capcom is the 3rd third party dev thats putting games on the PSN. first it was Namco, then it miday now it's capcom. i wonder if tecmo and Sega will do the same,
either way, it's good to know that they are now devoting a whole studio to push out nothing but PSN oriented Games.
i hear that David Jaffe is now going to be a second party dev for Sony, as he is trying to get a studio set up back in Utah where Incog entertainment(<-- warhawk, twisted metal devs) is working at now. and he's als confirmed that another PSN title is in the works for him.
also Factor 5 is doing a PSN Game that they plan to show at this years E3. i wonder what it's gonna be about
with all this coming out i'm seriously gonna need a bigger hard drive. i think i'm gonna start looking at 300 gig harddrives for my PS3 because buy the time this year comes about i wont have any space...
