I still think releasing Killzone near Halo3 wasnt such a bad idea. In fact PS3 needs to have something while a monster like Halo3 for 360 is around. When Gears came out, Sony needed Resistance and for Halo, only Killzone has enough hype to (try yo) match uber overhyped Halo 3.

Not only is that a better/smarter move for Sony and Guerrilla, but now, its gives the people on N4G a rest from bickering and talking about it coming out in September.

Me personally, I have all 3 systems, and Ive got to say that, that would have been the most retarded move by Guerrilla if they had released KillZone 2 in September. Obviously, Halo 3 has been the attention of 2007 for games ever since the E3 2006 trailer. Im going to have to say, from a console perspective(not including PC Games), that Halo 3 is going to be the biggest and most hyped game to talk about and play this year. I havent seen a single game, that has the depth of story campaign as the Halo franchise, or one that plays like all shooters should, and looks absolutely amazing on the 360.

Now as far as PS3 games go, yea, i would like to see and play some of them, cause some of them look pretty good. Youve got Lair, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Ratchet and Clank, etc. All those i cant wait to try out and play on PS3, but as far as KillZone 2, Halo 3 and the Year 2007, Its Halo's time to shine and finish the fight. Guerrilla has showed us nothing on KillZone 2, except for that CG trailer wayyy back at E3 2005. So that automatically tells me that a) they are not even close to being done, or even close to releasing the multiplayer beta. b) We havent heard any talk about KillZone for the past few months, until today, which means, they are being tight lipped about it, because of the fact, they need to make the actual gameplay look like that trailer. and c) they know sure as hell, that they wouldnt succeed if they released the game the same month, even the same year as Halo 3.

Basically, I want both of these games to succeed, but given guerrillas, insignifcant amount of detail, trailers, in game screen-shots they have given us, given that KillZone hasnt been talked about or heard of much since 2005, and given that this past year, and just recently all of May, has all been about Halo Multiplayer Beta, and a release date for Sept.25, and Halos fanbase, and how its one of the best shooter franchises ever made, and the media attention it gets, Its quite simple--> Halo 3 WINS 2007, KillZone 2---> Not ready. now maybe GTA4 might have some affect, but any other game releasing around sept. oct., will for the most part, not succeed. I say, if Sony, M$, or Nintendo, want to release other games in 2007, they better do it near the end of Nov., early december.

True, Killzone2 should be the most impressive PS3 title if they want to use it against Halo. Halo3 has 2 years of full hype behind it and 2 E3 shows but Killzone has nothing except that old E3 demo. I think Sony has to show KZ2 with full force for E3 2007 and keep super hyping it until christmass or even later to have more TGS/E3s to show the game.
Personally, I think Killzone 2 BETA will arrive this september. We have heard about it and a beta to fight Halo3 seems good: PS3 has something to show while Halo3 is unleashed and full KZ2 game can arrive months later.

Hell, they haven't even released a screen and it's rolling on into June now. Beyond Beta and an eventual Gold, September would've been a huge letdown release date in my opinion. I think that sweetspot after Halloween and before Thanksgiving is the best time. I never thought it would release in September to counter Halo since they [Guerilla / SNE] are tying to distance themselves from the whole "Halo Killer" debacle.

i agree with you in some levels..but,they havent really showed us anything on Killzone just yet..the game might suck major a$$ or it might be a really good game(it may even be better then halo 3).

although halo is a very good FPS,if you really think about it,it can be better...their could be an FPS game that could make halo look like nothing.......Killzone maybe the fps to do that..or not.....just dont rule out the possibilities....we will just have to wait till E3.only a month and a few days left:)

killzone may not come out in september.i'd also say something like a november release.halo 3 can sell,then gta4,then killzone,then mario galaxy for christmas.

When Sony shows Killzone at E3...one of two things will happen...It will either stand out as a fantastic looking game, and be comparable in some aspects to the trailer (volumetrics for smoke, great draw distance, etc...I am not talking about the physics and animation of the NPC's)...in which case the game will get hyped to the point that its a must own for the ps3...

Or..it will not even be close to the target render, and pretty much fall of the map after some large amounts of criticism towards Sony/Guerilla...

the latter of which seems unlikely...Sony knows how much is riding on it, and its massive development bugdet shows that its definately the biggest game under Sony's publishment right now...

But it is silly for people to try and speculate on when is the best time for it to be released right now...being that none of us have seen anything other than that trailer...

killzone sold over a million.then when the price dropped,it sold more.it clearly says."these SEVEN TITLES sold in excess of 4.5 million.try reading it again.it's an OFFICIAL SONY PRESS RELEASE.

every title of those seven sold well.that's why they are receiving sequels on ps3.from atv all the way down the list,sold VERY WELL.

that's why it deserves a second chance.give it one.as for vgchartz,people seem to believe them one minute,then not the next.i wouldn't trust their numbers myself.they're not OFFICIAL.second,not every game that came out on ps2 is listed in sales.there're too many to list.

as for wikipedia,yes,it's not listed there.but at the same site,when you click on killzone and read it,at the bottom:

The three things that can take on Halo and win are Pokemon, GT and GTA in that order. Halo is the 4th biggest franchise as far as I can tell.
GT isn't due till next year, so perhaps it'll just have to kill Gears 2.

killzone 2 may live up to itz hype, but theres a fact that none of you sony fanbiys can overlook. approximately 4-5 million preorders. you all try to deny it and say it is over-hyped, or (my personal favorite) " the beta dosen't even look that good. but the fact is that halo wins this, hands down. it has a way bigger fan-base and more loyalty than killzone's undecicive fangirls. it will blow killzone out of the water in terms of sales, and when you brag about how much money sony puts into it you hurt yourslf. it reminds us that sony is wasting hard earned cash on a substitute. do you seriously know why halo is the best, or when you are the best period? when everyone tries to eaither be like you or take you down. you name a good fps that hasn't tried to gain publicity by dubbing it'self the next "Halo killer"? times up. even if in a distaant universe kz2 was better, it still wouldn't sell half as much.

that even if sony doesn't have 115 million gamers right now,and that maybe 30 million had to rebuy the system because of disc read error,there would still be 85 million potential customers buying games.even garbage games.at the time of release,it could have been 70 million ps2 owners.

example1:burger king games for xbox 360.no way those games should have sold over 2 million copies.but they did.don't know how.but they did.and that was during christmas season i believe.

example 2:enter the matrix.i kind of enjoyed it.but had to trade it in right after i finished the game.i mean the next day.i was going to get my moneys worth then get the highest trade in.but it sold over 2 million copies as well.

there are plenty games WE don't buy because we(as hardcore gamers) see the rushed effort from the devs.especially movie based games.but they sell in the millions anyway.all the way down to $19.99 and below.we might think a game is garbage,but the younger kids lap it up and say they're great.just look at EA and their games as example too.

as for omega strain,i was lucky to be managing at the time to preview it.it was garbage.i kept telling my cousin to get psi-ops.get psi-ops.but he wouldn't listen.he loved the series like i did.but i refused.he later came back in my store and traded it in.and what did he get?psi-ops.much better game.

as for the sales:i used to sell platformers for ps2 like crazy.same with atv offroad fury.i sold probally more beyond good and evil than any other store in the country.i refused to have that game in my store sitting there not being played.same with dmc1.same with nfl 2k5.

but if you can prove me wrong with an official press release that each only sold 500,000 copies each,then i'll submit from the arm wrestling.but then it would make the killzone wikipedia article false because of the statement:

Comparing or even using the name Killzone in the same sentence as HALO is like preferring to live in the Arctic over Bermuda...I prefer HALO and there is no way a game like 'Killzone' (what a stupid name for a game to start with) is going to get in the way of HALO heh even Gears can be killzone hands down.
