Record of Agarest War coming to PSN and 360

GB writes: "Aksys Games announced the release date of the SRPG, Record of Agarest War, as well states that it will come to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. However, the PS3 version will be on PSN (Playstation Network), and the Xbox 360 version will not be on Xbox Live, but it will be as an actual retail game."

I will be downloading this one on PSN, but I am curious why it is a retail game for 360.

1. The headline is missleading, "Record of Agarest War coming to PSN and 360" is wrong, as the game has already been released in Europe.

2. The picture is from Agarest senki Zero, which no1 has yet said to publish in EU or NA.

Those who prefer their games on disc can easily import the game from Europe(not to mention its already available). Most of the UK stores like gamestation.co.uk and blahdvd.com already have the game and can deliver them internationaly. However if importing seems too troublesome you can use the NA store that sells imports ->

http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi...

Things to know before importing: The game supports only HD-TV and PAL video types. This can be troublesome for users of NTSC(SD) televisions.

Those who don't mind to wait and want Downloadable version (ps3) will be rewarded with trophy support and with some extra content (bonus CG's and extra dungeon (?) possibly English voice chat(eww))

well the game begins with fighting plays out like a strategic RPG where each character has his/her own set of moves, but by moving each character to an appropriate square, you can chain characters together and pull off combos. After each round of combat, each character will regenerate AP and accumulate SP points.

2.4 - So did I
I got mines as well (collectors). I refuse to pay for download only games. I do not support digital distribution unless they are puzzle games.

This is def. worth a download, for a small game it packs a lot and gives the gamer a lot.

Its worth it as a $30 DL. $40 if the added DLC is included.

But I'll have to rethink that if the PSN DL version is the same price as the 360 disc version.

What sucks is that the PSN version could have been out months ago, then they decided to hold it and bring it to the 360. that tells me that they're going to be the same price.

8 - Just import the PS3 European version
It's already out. I've had it for about three weeks. It was forty dollars for the collector's version and it's really well done. It's basically a tactical RPG with dating-sim elements.

The game is region free and Aksys is just using Ghostlight's translation. You might as well get it earlier, cheaper and in disc format because it's going to take up a pretty big chunk of your hard drive, especially if you're using an older PS3 model.

8.1 - Weather or not PS3 owners can import it isn't the issue.
Its that DL games are/were suppose to be cheaper than full retail. What's the point of offering it as a DL when you're just going to turn around and put it out retail for the same price? Its counterproductive.

Exactly. So stick it to Aksys and give the money to Ghostlight who actually did the translation and localization.

Aksys is doing PS3 owners, Red Company fans, Agarest fans and gamers in general a disservice by publishing Agarest in such a retarded fashion. Don't give them your money - give it to the the actual localizer who is a small new European publisher as a thank you.

I doubt its too hard to get the european version in NA. If you are unable to import the game for some reason just check order it from NCSX like many did. Ordered mine from Uk tough, a lot cheaper as I live in europe :P

Sorry, but no one deserves to get paid for this clusterfu*k. The game was going to be DL only which could have opened up tons of possibilities to small console devs and the exporting of JP games in general. Now that its turning into a mixed bag, likely because of the Arcade SKU though I doubt and 360 online doesn't have a HDD, the idea is all but ruined.

Considering that there are many JP 360 titles that could/should have been DL - SMUPS - that are disc and full retail, it was probably too much to hope for anyway.
