Final Fantasy XIII Fastest FF Release Ever

FinalFantasyUnion.com writes, "Fans of Final Fantasy should be pretty happy with Square Enix right now, not only because of the announcement of the March 9, 2010 release date, but the facts behind it.

Previously the Final Fantasy with the closest Japanese and North American release dates were Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy IX. Both IV and IX came out in July in Japan, in their respective years (1991 and 2000), and then North America in November, again in their respective years. Four months isn't a bad wait, but Final Fantasy IX took another four months to reach Europe, and Final Fantasy IV didn't make it until years later on the PlayStation.

Final Fantasy XIII however is releasing in North America and Europe less than three months after it's Japanese release. Never before has a Final Fantasy's regional release dates been so close together, and never before has a main series Final Fantasy launched in both North America and Europe simultaneously."

"development on the 360 won't start until the PS3 version is finished"?

Plus I'm not digging the new English theme song, and the japanese version won't have english sub. The US version won't have the Japanese voice over as well.

Thats commendable but the game still took 50 years to be released. Ha its still not released yet.

I do believe SE has taken a hit from fans across the world about their previous localization process and have step it up a bit. maybe FFvsXIII will see even closer release dates between the japanese version and the rest of the worlds version.

I was disappointed with the date. There was a lot of hype and the story the other day saying the finishing touches were being done made it appear it would be earlier.

Saying that being so close to the US date is a good thing.

I wouldnt boast yet , it quite likely the game was so late they had all of the time in the world to translate it .

The effort is good , but are we even sure we wouldnt be getting it 6-12 laters as usual if the developpement hadnt straight so much ?

11 - Originally SE planned worldwide launch

Before they announced 360 FF13, SE planned to release FF13 simultaneously worldwide. But 360 FF13 caused the delay with schedule because they had to port FF13 to 360 (they hadn't even started porting before E3 2008). Then againg, 360 is very popular in USA where huge amount of FF sales comes from so it may not have been bad business choice. But it did delay PS3 release in the west...

Is this article suggesting that I should than Square for allowing me to buy their hand-me-down FF game 3 months after it release in Japan rather than 6 months? Are you f'ing kidding me? They are the ones who should thank me for even trying a demo. Just for that I refuse to buy this game. I don't need Square, they need me.

This article is ridiculous, I remember they originally wanted a worldwide release for the game then the 360 got thrown into the mix and we're where we're at now. They said they had a BIG announcement, c'mon we already knew it was targeted for release in march/April sometime this was the most underwhelming announcement all year. SE let us down, it's ridiculous they're trying to excuse their behavior.
