The voice acting is very bad, the story is really hoaky, and the graphics are decent but the animation is just okay. The light gameplay mechanic is actually unique and different.

There is nothing about this game that stands out from any other well known and already done survival horror game. You've got a new background story to enjoy and light gameplay mechanics and that nice but general, that game looks normal average and I must say, seem full of cheesy production values.

If this game was named Alone in the Dark2, no one would even flinch about this title cause that's exactly what it looks like it could be. They just gave it another name and made it exclusive to the 360. If 360 fans are excited about this then I'm sure they were totally ecstatic about the 1st Alone in the Dark. If they weren't then I'm not quite sure why they seem overly hyped for this game cause it look exactly like a sequel for Alone in the Dark.

Go do screen shot comparisons for Alone in the Dark and this game and see for yourself. Better yet, go play Alone in the Dark and it'll be even more apparent.

Sorry but if this game is seen as "teh uber" to you, then you really shouldn't have the mouth to diss any other game out there.

What you're seeing is one set of fanboys egging another for continuing to hype "their" game even though its changed from what it was first promised to be.

Alan Wake probably will be a good if not great game, but that doesn't change the fact that its not the open, dramatic active event, world that it was first shown as on a high-end PC. The PC version doesn't even exist anymore and yet many in the XDF still act like it will be a genera and console defining title.

As long as they hold onto that belief, it just going to be salt in the wound.

Some of the best games ever made are still compelling and fun despite outdated visuals.

Having said that, the video of Alan Wake looks very good.

The visual style reminds me of an old PS2 game called Ghosthunter. Ghosthunter is basically roaming around with a flash-light killing ghosts. From a technical standpoint it was one of the top games last gen. Bump-mapping, dynamic light sources with real-time shadows, etc...

After removing the sandbox elements of the game I would think the graphics would have been upped a bit...

The reason why they look the same is because they actually are using the sandbox engine. It would be too much trouble to move all the stuff. Plus, the levels and environments that the game takes place in are huge.

Also, the daytime gameplay could actually have a really vast world to explore. I think that the night time will only be linear.

But the truth is revealed after the game is released... Or when the devs decide to release a daytime gameplay.

Well, imo, they were saying Alan Wake would push the 360's graphics far and beyond. From what I've seen it looks like a fun game with solid game-play but the graphics are no where near UC2.

The main draw of the Alan wake was it's impressive graphics for an open world game. It's NO longer an open world game, but after five years of development the graphics are STILL not on par with UC2 and KZ2. They really need to up their game or release the PC version else the game is just gonna be "another shooter"

The environment seems to be very static. And what's with the lightsaber beam-like flash light?

The faces of the characters seem to lack any emotion as well when in the cutscenes/dialogue sequences. No crazy facial animation I take it. I'm still getting it though.

For those of you mentioning Siren. The game was scary and appears like it will be scarier than Alan Wake. Though Siren had piss poor graphics, but seemed to work for its theme.

I know! Anything to do with something 360 these days is just "an uncharted copy cat" or "nothing new" or "bad visuals" . I mean some people need to rethink their life. Uncharted 2 is not that amazing. I got platinum on it, and I didn't think it was that amazing because everyone hyped it to the point on overload.
This games will be good, I'm expecting something like the hype for Mass Effect. Remember that? Kinda a new idea, appeases the Hardcore crowd, and something casual people will enjoy.

You got me, since Microsoft makes, or to not piss the PS3 people off by not being specific, funds PC hardware, so if you buy lets say Mass Effect or Halo 3, aren't you still buying a Microsoft funded game? Ok I kinda lost myself, I will admit. I just don't understand this whole system anymore. People used to get more than one system and applaud both, not troll both. I will say yet again that I own both a PS3 and a 360... shoot me for owning a 360 and it's terrible failure rate (lol because I never had a single problem) and an "Elitist" console. Unfortunately, I can be biased towards the 360 (way too many Ps3 kids bashing it because they're trying to justify their purchase, and maybe their life?)

Ok back to Alan Wake. Graphics are great. I just know it will be very fun, very good, and $60 well spent, like ODST (can't wait to make people mad on that)

i think ppl took my siren comment the wrong way haha. i'm merely referring to the episode structure and how i believe it takes u out from the game. just doesn't seem right lol i mean why do i need to be told what happened last time and whats coming up. they only do it in tv shows to refresh your memory from the previous week! when ur sat there playing through. unless you plan on taking a break for a week after each chapter i see no point in it at all

Art style or techniques is different from actual graphics fidelity. Don't confuse yourself about that. One may have a cartoony flare another a photorealistic flare and sure the art style can help in the debate of how good the graphics are but the graphics mainly deal with how well the particular art came together in comparison to some others.

How well was texturing implemented, how well were particle effects implemented and displayed, how well was lighting used, how well were many graphical components used to bring the whole package together.

That's graphical comparisons not art direction comparison which is in it's self a component of comparing over all graphical fidelity.
