Killzone 3 can be BIG only if….

GB writes: Killzone 2 has been a great success for Sony and the PlayStation 3. Its easily a showcase title for the hardware. The visuals of Kill zone 2 were top notch. Character models and their animations were very fluid. Killzone 2 was all about the war zone and it truly felt like one. Right from the start to the end Killzone 2 is arguably one of the best looking games on the PS3. With Killzone 2 being a commercial and a critical success for Sony, the game still had some issues. Through this editorial we present what Guerilla needs to do so that Killzone 3 could be HUGE.

Yea...the motion controls were a bit odd. They took to much effort just to turn it on the game. It was a cool idea but didn't work well. It took me some time to get on what to do at first because who wants to read the instructions?

1.6 - Killzone 3 should be:
An extra 5 hrs of gameplay..

Same multiplayer with all the map-packs out so far..

And according to the media and most reviewers it should get 9s and 10s accross the board no problem..

It's been proven that devs don't have to do much now a days..

I don't agree with this article at all

--Mtion sensing ( sixaxis sniper was great )
--More boss battles ( no thanks )... radec fight was a huge fight ... it was epic , and a test of patience in ELITE ... overall great ... but more of it ? no thanks ... the game had basicaly 2 Boss fights , radec , and the one on the roof.. that's enough ... i'd rather have a story with things happening rather than the END OF LEVEL Boss ..

-- controls weren't a issue .. GIVE UP COD style plz ..this is killzone ..guerilla listened and made a patch after but the controls were fine from the start .... ..now that they know .. the choice will be there in KZ3 when it comes ...

-- kilzone campain is not a 6h campaign AT ALL ..it is maybe if you rush on easy ... and you were forced to play at least twice to get all the solo trophies . ( not counting the amout of times you would replay a level to get the other bonuses ...), either that or you have to try to get the INTOUCHABLE trophy ( not dying at all )

After 6 h hours , you're just getting started on Killzone solo campaign

K3 is gonna be a mayor success compared to K2, in this gen people start to know about this game, since the first didn't sell so well, I believe less than a million copies, now K2 is a known game and we'll see more sales from the Third, no one understand this because is always compared with Halo

1.10 - All Killzone 3 needs is better story telling and cinematic direction.
A little lighter controls, and a number of the online issues resolved and they may have a flawless shooter on their hands.

I think that is what is going to happen. Killzone 2 was probably more of a technological showcase then it should have been. But now that GG has the tech they need, they can create an even better game.

1.11 - motion
This is not going to kill the gameplay,it should just be added as an option during gameplay.it's easy as just pressing a button and be able to point anywhere across the screen using motion, shoot and kill what ever it's on screen. and while aiming the camera stands still so it won't be frustating and press the button to deactivate it then the gun will be put back to where it usually is.

sniper had that one feature but it was only when zoomed in and could only adjust a small shot, plus that should have been put in every gun in killzone.

I absolutely loved Killzone 2, which is why its still one of my favorite online games today. The things I would change would be to have dedicated servers where a game last no longer than 10 - 15 minutes, and also a party system would be nice. The one thing I hate are how long some people make the games (1 hour - 2 hours) which is totally rediculous.

As far as people thinking that Killzone 2 should be different from CoD just for the sake of being different, I think that GG should take all the things that make CoD great and use them to make Killzone 3 even better. In my opinion, the CoD controller configuration is the best configuration to date. It just works beautifly. Aiming with "R3" isn't very smooth, but can be excused for games like Rainbow Six Vegas, where you have a cover system(online), then of course it may not make sense to be able to scope in with "L1".

The reason you believe that is because the FUD for the game was staggering seeing as how back then it threatened halo and people (NA reviewers) didn't like that and wanted to make sure it died.

You know however that 1) last gen, high end games selling over 250k WW were a success. & 2)Killzone1 sold over 2mill copies. When you consider only 2 other xbox exclusives outside of halo1&2 (PGR1&Fable) did similar numbers to KZ1, that's incredibly impressive for a game that was pretty much hammered as "teh worse FPS EVA!!!" by xbox fans and the gaming media.

Yup, Killzone 2 was screaming co-op... just dunno about the mech part. 2 mechs would be overkill. Unless one's a gunner?? But having 2 great looking mechs would be sexier from a technical standpoint.

1.18 - This is what KZ3 really needs..
1- Increased weapon capacity: Able to hold between 3-4 guns at a time would be a blast! just thinking about that makes me excited already! sniper rifle, pistol( different types as well), machine gun.

2- More futuristic weapons: after all, this does take place in the future rite?! so I'd like to see more assortment of guns.

3- Yes, a longer campaign would be great( 15hrs.)

4- 4 player multiplayer campaign: this should have been optional in KZ2. 2 player split screen would be sweet as well.

5- New types of enemies: what if the helgans developed some new super soldiers/ creatures to battle against?! that would be pretty entertaining!

Sniping was slightly annoying at 1st but it was still good. I just want more colour in the multiplayer maps. Colour schemes a bit dull for me. I know its war etc, but i still think its too grey on some maps (Tharsis depot, helghan industries etc)

*sigh* Killzone 2 was nothing special. I mean, yeah, it did look amazing, but I wish they had spent more time making a game that didn't control like sh*t.

@AKNAA: On the weapon capacity, they took a page from Halo on that one. There is strategy in choosing your weapons, and giving you more weapon capacity won't necessarily make it better. Maybe easier, but you will miss out on the challenge of making the wrong weapon work in a bad situation.

is when it happens online. A grenade can go off 50 yards away from you and still it shakes the hell out of you. It get annoying. The thing that pisses me off the most though is when a grenade goes off a story above you and it still kills you.

whats wrong with responsive controls?

the only thing they should change is sh*tty auto assist when not iron sighted.

the guns had recoil which means the ps3 would have had a decent shooter if it weren't for the unresponsive controls. I won't even say weighty because it reminded me too much of playing fps games on my pc with a bluetooth mouse. $50 bluetooth mouse went into my junk bin 2 hours after I bought it.

Horrible horrible horrible

I loved the weighty feel of the game. please don't make it like COD4! there is a reason I like Killzone 2 and not COD. I'm actually still really disappointed they patched the controls in Killzone 2, there was nothing wrong with them to begin with. unfortunately the masses want the arcade feel of COD.

GG better not mess with KZ2 controls. It will be R:FOM --> R2 all over again. Messing with the things that make the game unique and enjoyable for its fans it's never a good thing, first you lose fans and second dont gain any newcomer cause they are too busy playing the games they actually love, why to play a just poor man copy?

I'm confident though the chances for KZ3 to be more COD like are pretty slim. MAG is already COD like, R3 probably will be floaty as well, so hopefully the awesome KZ2 controls will be there again in KZ3.

3.8 - GG will not make COD4 controls
They fought it off at the expense of sales, they're not going to change the controls too much. The high sensitivity controls should have been what it launched with, though.

I can understand why people wouldn't like K2's controls. They're different, and a lot of people don't like doing thing differently. Well I do; I love K2's controls. With a little more tuning it can be the perfect FPS control scheme.

Count me among those who like the weighty controls and do not want to see Guerrilla attempt to make them more like the floaty controls of Call of Duty.

They are not less precise, believe me, I can aim exactly where I want and have no problem killing opponents online. The animation is different and they feel more weighty and, to me, more realistic. The controls are one of the things I really appreciate about Killzone 2. I was disappointed when Guerrilla tried to appease the COD crowd by patching the controls. Fortunately they are still quite unique from other FPS games and still maintain most of the "weighty" feel.

Refine them if need be, but don't change them back to the floaty type of controls that are so prevalent among shooters.

Yeah I don't know where he pulled 6hrs from (likely his butt) cause KZ2 even on easy difficulty was a damned beast. If you finished the game on normal and then went on easy setting, you'd feel a bit better but if you jumped in on easy your first go, you'd find many people pausing the game to re-verify it was still on easy difficulty cause KZ2's AI was/is a monster.

KZ2 AI is the best in any shooter. PERIOD. My first playtrough was on hard, and I actually had a very hard time going through the game. I read that EASY is hard enough for many and if you try to go gun blazing, you will never finish the single player campaign. KZ2 was much more than 6 hours for me, and considering the intensity/non stop stress the campaign was really long.

8.4 - KZ2 SP has a very reasonable length and is definitely on par or above the industry standards
The intensity is maintained throughout and i love it. How many shooter games out there in the market have SP that last more than 8hrs if you sprint through the game on Easy?

9 - Just make a good game
I hate it when people get into

Its not long enough it sucks
It was too linear
It was too open
It was too long
I had texture pop in on stage 5, the second part where the elephant changed its color to pink

If a game is good a game is good. If a game is bad a game is bad. I didn't care for killzone 2 all that much but it wasn't a bad game.

One thing that annoyed me was the long you think your PS3 is frozen because of it auto save. They need to fix this issue with there sequel. Hi-cups like this one really halter the immersion that the games tries to implement towards the player. Albeit it doesn't always happen when the game autosaves, it's annoying as hell when it does.

11.2 - See stuff like that doesn't bother me
I played through Mass Effect 3 times before I started to notice the texture pop in. And even then, the only reason I noticed it was because I started to read sonyfanboys destroy this game on the internet. I just play the game and as long as my pc/console doesn't crashes then Im fine. Small hiccups don't bother me and I barely notice them.

Now you want something to piss you off. There is sometype of memory leak in Sins of a Solar Empire. I am able to set all setting to max and play it, but for some reason it isn't programmed right and after about an hour, sometime 45 minutes, sometimes sooner I get the BSOD. I have to set that game to low settings across the board just to play it. Worked fine before entrenchment but now it does that everytime. Cant even put it on full settings.
