More Evidence Pointing Towards Killzone 3?

Gameguru.in "The rumor mill has been churning about the resurgence of this year's critically acclaimed shooter Killzone 2, sometime next year. Although Sony and Guerilla Games refuse to comment on this proposition, there is enough material to suggest that the team at Guerilla games is busy working hard on their next project"

i cant help but get excited about how killzone 3 will turn out especially graphically... considering how gorgeous killzone 2 looks and that being guerillas first ps3 game i cannot imagine how much better looking killzone 3 will be now that they have more experience with the system

I strongly believe this game will look to go back to Vekta. It'll likely start off on Helgan with the troops trying to get to escape pods or crafts to get to the mother ships in the skys for a quick retreat to Vekta but with the Helgan army in hot persuit.

This means more of the game will be on Vekta with more flush scenery. Unlike Helgan's barren waste lands, look for the colour palette of KZ3 to go from gray/black/red/brown tones to lush Greens/Whites/Yellows/Purple tones of the Vektan planet.

We'll get to see the 2nd gen utility of the Edge Engine rendering Jungles, Swamps, Snow levels and sea/water battles.

Gosh, Vasari was right - "The madness... b-e-g-i-n-s, argh!" *que KZ2 theme music*

Thanks 1.3, I kept thinking when writing that "uhm, something's off with that spelling" lol

You mean...Vekta? Not Vectar.

I'd bet good money that Earth is going to get involved in KZ3.

That's awesome. Hopefully that's what there working on. I'd like to see if they are able to enhance the engine they use for the game. This gen ND and GG have truly set the bar for graphix and, with the power of the PS3, they can only go up. Looking forward to it.

The next step would probably be using real people like in that movie "Gamer"! Seriously, I'm pretty hype about seeing GG enhance their engine.

I really can't wait until KZ3 because I want to know what happens in the story next. I hope in KZ3 there will be the attack Dogs. I want to rip there necks like in KZ:L. Also I hope there will be
split-screen co-op in the next game. I think Split-screen would work perfectly because in KZ2 you always had a buddy and I think play co-op with a buddy would be really fun.

I hope the game stays on Helgan and you fight in the mines and sulfur mountains. There is also to be some big Ice caped mountains on Helgan. So I would love to see more of the dark history on Helgan. May be even bring in more of the politics of Helgan.

I so can't wait for this game and if it comes out in 2010 that will be Awesome.

Please don't rush Killzone 3!! Wait until 2011! Don't do a L4D2 on us, ok?

It won't be rushed. It will release when it is ready and if that is 2010 then so be it. Remember Naughty Dog only took 18 months to make Uncharted 2 and look how that turned out.

prolly what they are attempting to do...steal halos thunder

dont own a ps3 or killzone, but from what i saw, it looked pretty awesome graphics-wise (cant comment on gameplay cause i havent tried it out) i wonder if they can even go beyond that

if only gg and bungie combined to make AAA multiplats that everyone can enjoy together...that would be (cant even find the word to describe how sweet that would be) lol

6 - I am replaying KZ 2 after a few months of not playing it
And im having the wow experience all over again. The animation, physics, lighting, sound, intense action with superb enemy a.i.

If KZ 3 is anything more than an improve KZ 2 it will blow other FPS away (again). I have high hopes for a KZ 3 that will shut up haters on KZ 2 and prove once and for all why Killzone on PS3 is a series to be reckoned with.

Thw 2010 release seems unlikely, 2011 is more on target imo

i think it would be kool if GG made a Killone spin-off like borderlands, but obviously set in the KZ universe! You could play co-op as frontline soldiers that have their own unique story parallel to the main plot. I would love to run around in an open world Helghan/Vekta with friends while completing missions and collecting loot/intel!

btw, borderlands is awesome LOL!

a little off topic but did anyone notice how much of killzone2 resembled 'black' on the ps2? Many of the weapons, levels and death animations were remarkably similar.

9 - Just to say
Killzone 3 is already pretty much a confirmed to be made title.

The devs said that after doing a few map packs theyd get straight on with Killzone 3. And its been ages since the last map pack.

Which means that im just about 100% sure that theyre probably a few months into making killzone 3, starting with enhancing the engine.

10 - What's everybodies views on the motion wand?
With the likes of Resistance 3 and Killzone 3 coming at some point after the release of the motion wand, there's a good chance the wand will be a controller option for them, presumably similar to the wiimote controls for wii FPS games. If this is the case surely the wand will be a necessity when it comes to online play. Personally I enjoyed some FPS games on Wii including Metroid 3 and MOH Heroes 2 so I would welcome this control option.
What's everybody elses views on motion controls in FPS games for online play?

If it's done right ( lame, I know ) then why not a wand. But again, it all depends in what form and shape it will be. If it's a Wiimote thing, then it's nothing for me I'm afraid.

Not for me either I'm afraid, leave this type of game to 'normal' controls I say. Can't really see motion controls enhancing the playing experience.

If the wand is an option for the likes of KZ3 and R3 then surely it will be a necessity.
Imagine using the traditional controller against players using the wand, most people wouldn't stand a chance. This is, ofcourse, assuming that it would be similar to the Wii FPS controls.

Aiming with the Wiimote is instant, I'm not a PC gamer but I would say that it can potentially be as quick and accurate as using a mouse. Now imagine using the Dualshock3 against a player using a mouse and keyboard.

10.4 - Dont forget
In one of the demo videos Sony did say there would be a system performance hit when using motion controls in game, so just how much that would impact who knows, but I certainly don't want to see a game like Killzone take a step backwards or even standstill I want it push on with even more on screen action, effects, graphical loveliness and so on.....

EDIT
I do agree that Wands v Dualshock3 could lead to a disadvantage for the Dualshock3 users but remember the wands are an extra peripheral, unlike the Wii which has motion controls as standard to the console, so not everyone is going to have the wands, this surely makes motion control inclusion extremely unlikely.

I didn't realise there was a performance issue when including motion controls.
I'm on the fence when it comes to buying into the wand controller. If it is not included as a control option for AAA games then it's a definate no-no for me. Just yet another peripheral that won't be given the chance to reach it's potential.

"but remember the wands are an extra peripheral, unlike the Wii which has motion controls as standard to the console, so not everyone is going to have the wands, this surely makes motion control inclusion extremely unlikely."
On the other hand that could be a reason to include the option. The wand could become even more relevant to the hardcore crowd than to the casuals and therefore sell like hot cakes.

10.6 - Hmmm maybe so
One thing is for certain though and that is I'm sure as hell looking forward to Killzone 3, guess we'll just have to wait and see about the 'wands'.

Yeah, I think GG is a lot further into production of KZ3 than we expect them to be. The Killzone engine should be extremely fine-tuned by now and easier to work with. One can only imagine the visuals and technical feautures it can produce at this moment already. I dare not think about the possibilities in a year, a year and a half from now.
