1 - Considerin this is a 1-1 360 port with an extra character thrown in,
how is this a surprise?

1.1 - There will likely be added features.
And it's all on one disc. Sorry, but the disc swapping was irritating. I don't know why they had to do it either, their excuse being that they: "packed the final dvd so full", that there's wasn't room for additional content and side-quests required disc swapping. And yet, installed on the NXE, disc 3 is SMALLER than all the other dvds (5.2 gigs or so). I'm not a programmer, nor do I claim to be, but I am moderately technologically literate and this is confusing to me.

I never actually got very far on account of the voice acting. The Japanese dialog track alone makes this worth the purchase.

Edit @ below: The disc swapping occurs between 2 and 3. It's required when switching locations between various planets/ sidequests. I'm really suprised that they couldn't have worked around it like they did with all the other 360 JRPGs this gen. It's not nearly as much of an inconvenience as the voice acting (which is wretched, some of the worst I've ever heard in a game).

Unless they planned to bring it to the PS3 as soon as they announced it 360 "exclusive" and have been working on it since, there's not going to be much added.

And if that's the case, that actually pisses me off. Means that Square intentionally di*ked its fanbase over.

Actually, how was the disc swapping? Was it linear, 1st half of story on disc one 2nd on disc two, or do you have to switch when going to a specific world while openly exploring?

1.3 - More than that
the battle system is updated, as are graphics as well as manual space control between the planets rather than hub.

1.4 - Do we have a confirmation on a graphics upgrade yet? (I hope so)
The sub-HD stuff wasn't noticable, but the game didn't scale properly (even with the 360's scaler). There was a thin, black border around the game if you played with your t.v. at it's native resolution. It wouldn't stretch all the way to 1080p without cropping the image.

Irritating. The whole game was a bit of a mess, come to think of it. They should have just waited and released it multi-plaform, saved us all the grief.

It's better then the 360 version in two HUGE ways.

1- The 360 beta version required you to enter previous discs to re-visit locations for side quests. So once you were on disc 3 you would need to revert back to disc 1 to visit a different planet. Then once you had finished with that planet you would need to re-enter disc 3 and so on.

2- The English dub was HORRIBLE. Thankfully Japanese VA and subs will fix that.

Then you have new characters and the re-done menu's and camera angles, other language tracks and subs and most likely a few more things will be revealed later.

(Added bonus no RROD, E79 error and bug free since it's been Beta tested)

Even if they add a lot of stuff (which I doubt considering SE disregard towards the PS3) I'm NOT getting this game new if at all. One year later (when the bribe from MS expired) SE is pulling a SO4 PS3 to recoup costs after the failure (in every way) SO4 xbox360 was.

Sorry SE my money is in other games next year. Try harder.

Considering all the other JRPGs now headed the PS3's way, how isn't this title now at to bottom of the barrel?

1.8 - Feb 9th for everyone?
Screw everything else, this is the biggest news of the day for me as i wasn't looking forward to spending $100 on importing the international version for japan.

Unless of course the PS3 version of Tales of Versperia gets a U.S. release date.

I quit playing this on my 360 when I had to swap discs to back track to open the chests I didn't have the right power to open when I 1st found them. This being on 1 disc eliminates the 1 problem I had with the game which was the constant disc swapping later in the game. My B-day is the 19th of February so this is what I will get.

There seems to be some bugs in the current game. I would definitely like to see those fixed, sort of like a Star Ocean 4: Director's Cut, like what they did with the third of the series.

11 - Well i guess
there will be a deluge of JRPGS coming soon on the PS3 and those that have been asking for this will finally get it.

However, VC and Folklore are two outstanding RPG'S i have played on the PS3 sofar.

I played star ocean: second evolution on the psp and loved it. First JRPG I'd ever played.

Really looking forward to this actually, hopefully it'll release before FF13.

23 - Sweet, can we stop believing Japanese Xbox devs (and Xbox devs in general) when they say their game is exclusive to 360?
Because it's never true.
Not when Microsoft strikes up a publishing deal (Mass Effect 2 - you'll see, but it's on PC anyway)

Not when they trumpet exclusivity at their conferences (See Splinter Cell Conviction, L4D2, also on PC)

Not when they PUBLISH THE GAME THEMSELVES!!! (Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 - have you ever seen a Sony published game on another console this or last generation? NOO!)

Not when it says only on Xbox (Tales of Vesperia)

Not when the developer says it's not happening/no PS3 version in the works (Bioshock/Star Ocean 4)

Not now, not ever. The age of 360 exclusives is OVER. All hail Kojima and MGS4.
