PlayStation 3 Platinum Range Expands

Jem Alexander of the EU Playstation Blog writes: On September 2nd the PlayStation 3 Platinum range received a handful of new titles. These popular games require no introduction and may well be of interest to any recent purchasers of the new PS3 model.

All these games have reached sales of over 400,000 and so to celebrate we are offering consumers a chance to add these unmissable titles to their collection for an unbeatable price – £19.99 / €29.99.

Updates:

The price that comes after £19.99 should read as 29.99 in Euros, I guess this site didn't recognise the Euro currency symbol with the copy and paste.

Actually wxer I think the requirement for Platinum is that it sells 500k rather than 1 million, I'm certain I read that somewhere in the past but could be wrong.

Pacific Rift is great fun and the 2 expansion packs they have released so far add a ton of sweet extra content. Definitely one of my favourite racing games to relax with.

I'm a game collector and it kinda ruins my collection lol, so that's why I stick to first day buy's now.

I did get my first PS3 kinda late (only a month ago) but the platinum covers look like they take less money to produce... maybe that's what add's to the lower price of platinum games?

5 - Man it must be heaven for new PS3 owners

Not only the slim is out at 1/2 the original price of the PS3. PSN and PS3 firmware is miles better than when it was launched. They get to out now and buy all these excellent games that we waited years to come out at a fraction of the cost we paid. I love my launch 60 gig fatty though. I will never trade here for a slim....never!.

But seriously, these are all amazing games. The covers shouldn't turn people away, these games are great. Especially MGS4, which at a deal like this an unbelievable offer (same with KZ2, which I'm surprised went platinum this soon)!!

I need to know more!

I'm just getting into Resistance 2 now and thus far i'm not liking how it's holding my hand through it and telling me which weapons to use [I liked the wheel from the first game]... and on the mission to rescue to Doctor seeing him stand in front of a firefight with the Chimera and take a universe of damage was a bit pap.

A lot prettier though.

Although I think my perspective on being hard on the sequel stems massively from just how stunning the London level of R1 was. Loved it.

Surely the drop in price should also mean those copies on Ebay should go for a similar price.

I picked up the original version of resistance 2, still sealed for less than the platinum rrp and only a couple of quid more than the online price.

Wut? MGS4 went Platinum months and months and months ago. I bought it for 29,95 in the Platinum version in March or April of this year.

But PS3 games are dropping too fast in price. If one had waited buying Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Motorstorm and LBP (on sale for 19 Euro now in my country) from last Christmas/early 2010, one would have saved about 130 Euro.

I'm almost thinking about waiting 6 months to buy Uncharted 2, GT5 and God of War III, because they'll drop in price like all the other PS3 games so fast.

This is probably a way of boosting sales, as they do not distinquish full price, pack in and bargin bin.

Sending a wrong message to POS3 owners. Wait 3 to 6 months and you can buy a big hitter at Haze/Lair/Rock Rev prices
