Games become greatest hits/platinum when they have surpassed a certain amount of sales, NOT as a reaction to slow sales. KZ2 has far surpassed 1 million units, VGChartz guesstimates put it at 1.8 million. So most likely it hit 2 million in actuality.

VGChartz is always BS, just count up the NPD and all the press releases Sony has had about Worldwide sales, you'll get a close estimate than VGChartz. I'd say 1.5-1.6 million would be a closer estimate.

If Killzone 2 reached 2 million sales then no doubt Sony will have some PR about it and putting it in the platinum hits category.

No, Killzone 2 isn't doing 'fine'. The game costed 60 mln. to make, and add another 10 mln. for marketing purposes. It was also bundled with PS3's, so it didn't even 'sell' the whole 1.5 to max. 2 mln. copies out there.

Crackdown for example just broke even on 1.5 mln. sold copies and I bet that game didn't even cost half KZ2's budget. Heck, might not even hit 1/3 of that amount of money.

Thus: KZ2 isn't doing fine. Another reason to make it Platinum and drop to 30 bucks. Same as MGS4, LPB and other main PS3 IP's. Stupid I bought KZ2 at launch. Next games people will hold their purchase, thus this will have a negative effect on all gamesales on the PS3 in the future. STUPID MOVE!@

According to an article from Gamespot (one from after the game's release this year, not a surfergirl system wars forum post from 2008 like the one you linked) Killzone cost roughly $20million to make, and like I said, it sold a million in just over a month. Add on the sales from the following months and I stand by my statement that it's doing just fine.

You're now comparing an RPG that came out Christmas 2007 when there were what, about 16 mln. 360's out there with the genre FPS and KZ2 that released this year with an installed base of at that time 22 mln. Not to forget that Mass Effect was on PC also.

No, I'm not happy. The fact that a game gets cheaper after a longer time is logical, old stuff gets cheaper. But this fast, 4 to 6 months makes one think its better to wait. If it happens to all PS3 main franchises and you buy them all, lets say you buy 4 a year, you save 120 bucks you can spend on other games.

Did we see games like Gears of War, COD4 or any other great IP drop this fast? No.
I feel facked in the ars by Sony because it happens with every single freaking game out there, not just occasionally with one game.
