Didn't Kazunori Yamauchi or someone from Polyphony already state that GT5 would be released 'shortly after' GT PSP goes on sale Oct. 1st?

That would certainly imply December as the latest.

Big unveiling at Tokyo Game Show. TGS is September 23-27. Release date sometime in December I would assume.

GT5 + $300 PS3 Slim is going to be insane sales even if it does come out in early 2010.

Quarter 4 COULD fall into Early 2010, but since the Q1 2010 lineup is already packed with big 3rd party games, in addition to Sony's own: God of War 3, MAG, and Heavy Rain, I just don't see Sony releasing GT5 in Early 2010 amongst those other games, so Late 2009 sounds VERY probable. I can't wait until TGS!

And MariusElijah, Final Fantasy XIII will probably most definitely sell more in Japan than GT5 in Japan.... Europe is where Gran Turismo always sells the most.

I've a friend who is a manager of a "Gamestation" store here in the UK, he informs me he has a release date set for October 2009. However, Gamestation is owned by "Game" (the UK's largest chain of game stores), and they have a date on their website for 25th of September.

No actually fiscal years start Oct 1 and end Sept 31. So Q4 of the fiscal year would be the end of September. I severely doubt it will be coming out before the end of September.

Actually, fiscal years start at different times for different companies. There's no one certain fiscal year set in stone. In Sony's case their fiscal year, yes, does end with March. So Sony's 4th quarter would run Jan-March 2010.

However, people, you're still missing the point. Sony is currently in fiscal year 2010. It goes by the date for the end of that fiscal year. They would either right it FY2010 or FY09-10. So Q4 2009 has to refer to calendar year. Thus, Oct-Dec '09 (that's if everything here is right and stays right).

Err... Cranium, I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about that. He was talking about custom liveries - GT forces you to just have a plain colour for your car whereas Forza allows you to paint your own design and take it online to show off... some people get quite creative with it. Depends on how much you care about being able to paint your own car, but what he said is correct.
