you know what kinda calculations they do for folding@home?

a lot of math, physics, signal analysis and processing: basically stuff that's way too hard for your average lousy game programmer but not for the really good ones.

Even if the 360 can't do folding as fast as a ps3, it can do it faster than a pc, so why not still offer it. I mean they are still allowing the program for pc users, why not offer it for 360 users. If he was really out to help people, he wouldn't make such stupid comments. You would want help from every facet of the planet, and you wouldn't try to put down something else. To me (i'm sorry guys) but that sounds bought. Just an observation. They are still using pcs', they are now using ps3's, what is really the problem with using 360's for those that want to help. I mean it's for the greater good, right? It's not for bragging rights about a console. That's just a bonus for sony about calculations (but you want to know a secret, the ps2 could calculate faster than the original xbox so go figure). I'm sorry this guy is full of crap now, I don't get why you wouldn't want help from those who want to help. Doctor's are bought all the time from pharmaceutical companies, why couldn't he be bought? Like i said before, the ps3 can calculate faster, but a 360 contribution would still help us all, and is faster than the pc's so someone really needs to get the ball rolling. We are talking about a disease that can affect us all, both 1st hand or 2nd hand. We would still all benefit in the end if we used all our resources to find a cure or something.

the truth is PC still faster, I'm not sure about CELL though, nobody officially test on both CHIP yet.
if you think again with macPRO 8 core, do you think 360 is still faster?

if 360 is faster then I would like to use 360 for my farm rendering, which is more cheaper than render boxx, where the cost is at least $1750 for each unit, with the price of $600 PS3 is surely cheapest supercomputer. it's true. I'm not a CELL maniac. and it's not me to say the fist that CELL is fast for calculating.

You guys compare these consoles for everything. It's really getting rediculous. If the folding dude don't think the 360 is as good for folding then good. Not the 360 owners need not feel bad for not helping a good cause. They can just say, my 360's not compatible. Besides, if some one was willing to lend me a FREE hand, I'd accept their offer without whining about how little help their giving, this guy must be a retard. Anyway!

This is the one of the dumbest posts i've seen yet. To be honest about it, unless there is a new game coming out that uses the folding engine (sarcasm) them who cares. The xbox360 displays xboxlive better than the ps3, but really, who cares. I know I don't!

Just another lame post to start people to flaming, it's not about folding anymore, now it's about which console is better, as usual I guess.

i didnt say that i game 24/7 BUT the only thing i will leave on while i am NOT at home is my PC especially as its energy efficient, its quieter then my Xbox 360 and i know that my PC is reliable. i sometimes leave my PC running 4days in a row, as i set various tasks running which take some time to complete such as Folding@Home, i feel soon as though i am running this program on my PC which i brought myself, and being a student i am 1 in a few that buys my own stuff, including HDTV, Xbox 360, PC etc etc.

i also note that people disagreed with my comment, now i did NOT say i didnt want folding@home on my Xbox 360 as if it was i would use that as much as i could, but i also enjoy coming home after a long day, kicking back and playing some co-op/versus games online with friends and random people. so i still stand by my coment. My Xbox 360 NEVER overheats, and i sometimes play it/leave it on for long hours. BUT i still wouldnt want it working constantly on crunching data with me NOT there with it.

i hope ISNT directed at me AS i NEVER said "I ONLY PLAY" nor never refered to my only playing, it wouldnt make sense when i use my Xbox 360 for gaming, viewing pics, listening to music (off HDD/Ipod/Computer) and also as someone else has said you can go on the web using media center (using the Xbox 360 as an extender)

But as i have heard lots of people having Red Ring of Death after a year, and i have only had mine since October/November time it has yet to prove itself. also i DO contribute, soon as though this program ISNT available on the Xbox 360 i am contributing infact where i would normally turn off my computer when all my tasks are complete i now normally keep my computer on overnight, next day just to run folding@home so dont bother coming out with such stupid comments to me as i AM doing my part.

I have a computer also (So my dik is bigger than yours :), which pretty much sums up this comment), it's not a hard task to leave your computer/ PS3 going.

In between the Micro$oft ad you have a point you did not say "I ONLY PLAY", I was refering to this type of response in general buy terming them "I ONLY PLAY".

I use 2 360's as extenders in enclosed spaces. On the weekends one is on at least 10 hours either playing music and displaying pictures, or playing live or dvr'd hdtv or surfing the web(Yes the 360 can surf the web as an extender). Yes, I do go outside on the weekend,(I have outdoor speakers as well). I have been using them for over a year now with no problems. I don't disagree that there are 360's with problems out there, but the majority of them work and work well. You just have bought the FUD spread by the users on this site hook line and sinker.

I've just had 2 Xboxes die on me and we all know they aren't as reliable as they should be. I'm trying really hard to just talk about this without turning it into a flame war, so please lets not get into a back and forth thing here.

For the record, I'm glad that your Xboxes are still problems free, especially with all the use you give them. I also applaude anyone participating with F@H, and anyone knocking anyone else who does it because of their petty fanboy allegences needs to pull their head in.

well everyone should know this as a £200 computer COULD run it, i am running folding@home all the time my computer is on, and i am running a SINGLE core CPU and a NON SLI GPU but my computer still runs pretty well and done a 50,000 frame cycle in just over a day, and like i said mine is a SINGLE core CPU although i will be looking to upgrade to dual core soon :P

so yeh with the 360 having graphics MUCH better then my computer, and having a triple core (3times better then my computer) of course it could run it
