yeah it is a decent service given its just barely a year old...

It REALLY needs some sort of rental subscription though...it surprisingly gets almost every major movie release the day its in stores (every Tuesday morning in the US)...but 'new' rentals are usually 3.99 for SD and double that for HD (which is only 720p and still has ridiculously compressed 2ch. sound)...so don't expect to be downloading BD quality stuff from this...but its still great for nights where you don't feel like going out and buying/renting anything...SD is basically the same cost as renting a new release dvd at blockbuster...but HD is MORE expensive than the same movie on Blu Ray at blockbuster...making the HD rental part of the service 100% broken...

just be warned...90% of the new content is sub TV budget lionsgate crap...terrible terrible movies...but the previews are always fun to watch anyway...

Europeans have to understand how complex this is though...this isn't just Sony's fault...as region locking on US based film content is extremely complicated legally...not to mention the overhead of localizing all the content for viewing across Europe/UK...

obviously its not 'all' US based content...but A LOT of it is...given its a fee based service connected to a free online community...I am really surprised its coming to Europe this soon...

And another problem is that most of the content that is handled by one US company in the US, has a different distributor in every european country. So rights had to be contracted with a load of distributors like ufa, constantine etc .. and every country here has its own rating board on top of all that.

Europe is complicated business :D regardless of the common market

We need this service in Canada please. If Europe gets this and Canada does not I will be pissed, even though the lackluster video gives me free blu-ray rentals every time I go there.

Don't get me wrong if true, I'm happy for all the Europeans, they deserve the video store...

But where is Canada's version...I know it took on Xbox Live a couple years to have their marketplace come to Canada, but come on Sony, get the ball rolling.

What I don't get is when they announce stuff for "North America" they seem to forget Canada which to me seems the area that is in the north. If they are going to soy north america then include Canada or just say U.S.A only or buy a frigin map.
