You guys are lucky no one cares about the PS3 or this thread would be full of Sony haters bashing PS3 but you can see this is not a 60-100 post thread because no one cares about PS3 Sometimes i wish that were true in the 360's case.

^That's worth an article by itself, and it's why I've always had a problem with Playstation. From the beginning, Sony tried to posture that it was the only kid in town and the BS steadily grew. "PS2 will deliver Toy Story graphics" set a new bar four outright lies, and Jack Tretton's "people will buy the system without games" comments are legendary for sheer lack of respect for the consumer.

Seeing people pass off disrespect from executives time after time with crap comments like "well the average consumer doesn't really listen to them" and "they're just confident" is mind-numbing. There is no other product in the world that would continue to be respected after telling its consumers lines like how they'll "...work a second job to pay for Playstation 3" and "Playstation 3 will bring discipline to our nation".

That's not confidence- it's absolute hubris.

Who approved this crap? Mart needs a few restrictions for crap like this. He is only trying to start flame wars and has no other reason to post in this section. Hey Mart is that your personal site? If not maybe you should be a staff of that site because you would get along great with them.

But here's my take...this article did not say the PS3 was a POS, which would have warranted the majority of ardent responses above.

It said, here are some mis-steps the Sony company could have done better with. The author is right. You can love the machine and not love the marketing. The lead-up to the release of the PS3was a debacle -almost all the major press agree.

I agree with every point he made -except for the spidey font, which I think is kind of cool. I don't really see how objectively you can even argue against the points he made.

By the way, I do own a 360, and I do not think the PS3 is a POS, I think it will probably end up being fantastic. It's just that right now the 360 is owning on all fronts,(This will probably change) and this frustrates all you Sony owners who were patiently drooling while I was rockin out to kick-ass games for the past 2 years already.

Not that ironic Most of whats posted on this site are rabid resposes from Sony fans and responses to the rabid comments. Ironic is a word you shouldn't use I'm not the one finding counter news for everything good about one company or the other. Whats ironic is that Sony fans are flabbergasted over this kind of post saying things like who post this crap etc. lol

IRONY: 1. a figure of speech in which the word express a meaning that is the direct opposite of the intended meaning.

2. An outcome or events contrary to what was, or might have been expected.

3. The Incongruity of this. Add below

incongruous

1. out of keeping or place

2. not harmonious in charactor

Should i go on with the meaning of harmonious?.

You're a super Sony fanboi its too late to convince people otherwise just get over it will ya!.

The attacks on the 360 with spiteful news is common amoung PS3 fans but when PS3 fans get bad news posts they are baffled about who would post such a thing!; like they have not been doing it consistantly its Ironic!.

I've been saying for the last couple of years that the head honcho's at Sony deserve to be fired...

I love their hardware, but some of the things they said during the run-up to the PS3 launch, and all of the obvious opportunities they completely missed with the PSP makes me wonder if the Sony execs have any idea of what the customer wants.

The one quote that absolutely kills me to this day was when they were talking about the PSP being "The walkman of the 21'st century". They could have EASILY pulled this off, but failed miserably. Since firmware 2.0 for the PSP, they could have integrated it into the Sony Connect online music store. The PSP has built-in WiFi, 2.0 brought a browser to the mix, and think of how cool it would have been to be able to browse and download music with your PSP in ANY hotspot around the world! Instead, the consumer gets FLOODED with over-priced UMD movies...

And speaking of UMD, that MIGHT have had a chance as a portable movie format if there were any players OTHER than the PSP. They should have been putting out cheap portable UMD movie players, they should have put out UMD car stereo head units, but instead they try and rely on UMD movies to push the PSP... Well, you can see how successful that was...

I'm hoping that a lot of these stupid business decisions will cease with Kuratagi leaving Sony Computer Entertainment. He may have been the father of the Playstation, but he had NO IDEA how to run it as a business... He got lucky with the PS1 and PS2, but with the PSP and PS3 his inexperience shined through...

No one doubts that Sony miscalculated their launch but I'm tired of seeing these ridiculous 'analyses'. If you're going to rag on any console, at least have the decency to stick to useful analysis. The guy makes about three valid points (from a sales perspective) but then spends most of the article in what I assume is an attempt to get cheap laughs. The quality of gamer media is going to crap quick, no matter what console you're a fan of.
