The Amplifier - Warp Zone: Killzone 2

Killzone 2 for the Playstation 3 is your quintessential first person shooter. In space? Check. Dreary game world? Check? Endless swarms of enemies? Check. Killer multiplayer? Check. Killzone 2 is like having the best parts of Halo and Gears of War in the same game.

Killzone 2 was a technical feat for consoles and an amazing game with solid multiplayer and I really enjoyed the challenge of the single player (haven't passed it in elite yet). I would say it's a good contender for GOTY, but I think Uncharted 2 has a better chance.

Killzone 2 is the best online multiplayer ive ever played in an FPS. Uncharted 2 does stand a better chance because its more recent. Co-op AND Competitive Multiplayer is insane. I dont thk ill get MW2 cause im OVERLY satisfied with KZ2, but I wuldnt count out Modern Warfare 2. It may not have the graphics but the gameplay seems really over the top maybe more so than KZ2 even. IDK, ill make my mind up when IW rolls out more multiplayer vids.

I havent touch K2 multiplayer yet but I'll do. Regarding the single player I'm in the same boat as you. I feel really satisfied wirh KZ2. Replaying it as Elite, OMG! Helghast AI is incredible, those guys are really smart, they will try to flank you, to support each other, to take cover and avoid your fire at any cost. Just the AI is enough to separate KZ2 from the rest of the crow. Lets add visual fidelity, WOW. I'm still in awe looking at KZ2 environments, lighting, particle effects. Sometimes the action is so chaotic, so much debris, smoke, this game is a marvel.

YEah, GG did a hell of a job and I'll be picking up the next game for sure.

KZ2 didn't seem to be my cup of tea at first (mainly because of the controls) but it grew on me and after the control patch, it really all seemed to come together.

Ever since the Killzone 2 multiplayer beta, i knew it would be one of my favourite and to this day, it is my favourite online FPS on the current gen consoles.

I did always think the single player campaign was great, but i have been playing through it again recently, after all the hype has died off and after i'm out of that "new game" mode where i just rush through it.

And wow, i am really appreciating how well crafted the single player campaign is, its brilliant. The story, dialogue and voice acting isn't so great (with the exception of Brian cox's character, visari) but in this type of game, i don't really expect anymore.

Its a brilliant game and it is a shame it had so much hype behind it, because if it didn't - more people would appreciate it for what an incredible game it is - not just technically.
