EA says, "We Need Cell Processor"

EA will develop different genres of games for each system, using each of their strengths.

"Something like Harry Potter is a very clear candidate to lead on the Wii," offered Florin.

"Shooters like Medal of Honor, Black, we will clearly concentrate on PlayStation 3 because we need Cell processor power."

"Then we've got more strategic, online-orientated games that we concentrate more on 360," he added.

I agree! As a PS fan, I don't think this needs to be posted,
especially if posted before!
But yesterday theMart posted a story "PS2 fan converts to 360"
from a 360 fansite. It was pulled, but some 360 fanboys approved the article in the first place! That type of story can never be verified d
because it isn't on the net anywhere else . The site also didn't offer proof!
This is a bit different though because its from EA, but it should
have been posted from another site or something. To make it more legit.
If it doesn't get on another site , it shouldn't be posted at all
because it only appears on a fanboy site! And cannot be verified by others!

I'm glad you like it kornbeaner mate, it's a better story because it's the original story/interview whereas this article is just a collection of excerpts from it.

I just don't understand it, the original is such a new story, do people have THAT short a memory?! What surprises me is that NewsBot approved it, they're normally pretty good when it comes to duplicates.

Is this the green light for all of us to just go and take stories that are a few days old, quote from them, and end up with a whole "new" article? It's so ridiculous, I have to laugh! That's life for ya. :p

A) I am not an XBox fanboy, I have owned neither XBox

B) The title is a select quote from the article to try and promote the PS3 as EA's console of choice, which is not true. The post knows most of the people on this site read only the title, mayby the user printed blurb, but hardly ever link to the full story and used it to his/her advantage.

C) This is about several platforms, but was only posted in PS3

D) It has already been posted, but this re-submit has been posted in a biast way.

E) The site linked to has taken an article from elsewhere and put it's own biast slant on it before the N$G post even got his/her hands on it

That's why it is a fanboy post, not a news post.

What's funny about this "PS3 article" is they claim FPS shooters are better on the PS3, yet the PS3 only has 3 FPS, Rfom, fear, cod3. Of those 3 games, only 1 is exclusive to the PS3 (and ONLY because its made by SONY) and the other 2 got better scores on the 360. If EA did indeed make that comment, I wouldn't look up to them for anything innovating or exclusive. In fact they are the very last developer, I would look to. Lemmings have faith in them, just like you had blind allegiance to Ken Kutaragi.

OK, we all agreed (one way or another) that Cell is superior to Xenon. Why the hell PS3 fans keep coming back to that subject? I think because PS3 hasn't give any reason (so far) to justify it's high price. There's just promises, analyses, "Cell's power is limitless, we need it..."...

Now, point me one game that could put XBOX 360 games to shame in terms of graphics, story, controls, whatever... Don't say "just you wait 'till november, or 2008.", but show me one game that's really striking out. If you can't show me any game, then you can't convince me to pay almost 700 euros (PS3 + one game) for a system which is no better than the one I can get for 450 euros (XBOX 360 + one game). For now, there are absolutely no reason for spending 250 euros more (for 250 euros, I can buy Wii ;) ). Maybe in a year or two (when we see some major price drops and/or a MAJOR quality difference between X360 and PS3).

kameo has some big battles going on !
dead rising has alot of on screen action !

and wait for the review of lair i wanted it but i think alot of people are going to be disapointed by the actual game ! wait and see !

i am still getting heavenly sword as i like the epic feel of games like this....you know like god of war 1/2....sort of 3d streets of rage with big epic mostly non-interactive 3d background that make it look and feel alot bigger than it really is !
it keeps the action flowing/fun and controlable instead of mad bashing loads of people around you like dynasty warriors !

Alright dude there is no doubt that the Cell and the RSX are powerful
But anyone that knows about computers can tell you that the RSX is based on an NVIDIA 7800 card which means......Yep you got it its about 2 to 4 years old so there is nothing awesome about that and much of the Pixels the PS3 can push is thanks to the Cell. And the 360s GPU codenamed XENOS is something new and revolutionary at the time of Launch, I mean it has 48 unified shader piplelines, 10mb Edram which by the way takes care of FSAA and HDR on the fly. The RSX has only 24 piplelines and something that has been proven before is that the RSX cant handle FSAA and HDR at the sametime without getting unstable. When it comes to processors the CELL is a tad bit better when it comes to performance.

So you just validated that the Cell is more powerful, even with the "old" RSX chip, once its coupled with the Cell it is pretty powerful. HDR, etc. doesn't have to be done on the RSX because the Cell can handle all those things, its funny how you think just because you know a few key buzz words you know more about architecture and software than Sony engineers. What a joke.
I guess in your haste to demonstrate your knowledge of computer related jargon, you forgot to bring in evidence that supports your argument. Just a friendly suggestion of thinking before you type.

Rsx pipelines
-24 shader pipelines.
-each pipeline produces 5.7 ops.{(shader opperations per second)

ATI pipelines
-48 shader pipelines.
-each pipeline produces 2 ops
-a total of 96 sops.{(shader opperations per second)

Then I cannot come out and tell all "XB fanbots" how good the PS3 is. It would have been kind of fun though. I still feel the PS3/Cell has an advantage when it comes to number of things going on per frame. Since Blu-Ray is there with a HDD, the more possibilities there is for a game dev. Nothing special coming that's using it, besides of R:FoM, HS and Lair if I am correct. But there will be more of the same. A good selling argument if anything.

The XENON was the graphic one? Ok, I thought I was talking about the CPU ( Xerox? :) ). I've heard the RSX is based on 7800 somewhat modified to work well with CELL via the CBE. Non-unified vertex(?) shaders and all, but the Cell/RSX works good here....it seems.

And with this post, you just showed that you know very little (if anything) about hardware, and yet you are so fast in concluding/blindly believing in everything developers say. I said it before, and I'm saying it again - Cell is more powerful than Xenon, but not THAT powerful as Sony would like you to believe. 95% of things devs do on Cell can be done on Xenon (if programed correctly). Xenon IS very powerful too - for Christ's sake, it's a Tripple-core, dual threaded CPU where each core is running at 3.2Ghz! How can anyone believe that Cell is absolutely dominant, and that Xenon can't comprare is beyond me...

And again, why another "Cell is more powerful" subject/comments? We all know that. It's not about hardware people! Devs won't just give up X360 'cause PS3 is 20% stronger. Wake up! PS3 has yet to catch on X360...

@JCDenton: I learn as I go. What is it with 3x2 threads working in serial, compared to parallel x7 SPU's and a general PPC CPU all working in 3,2GHz? Each SPU can work singlehandedly or in parallell with several others. Devs talk is their experience with the PS3 hardware. What they say about the PS3 I do believe is holding some truth, but when they downplay the other console is just for selling and PR, right?

[edit] You know, I think it's all about the games as you said, and with the short life of the PS3 in more sense than the 360, it's really hard to know for anybody outside the developing of console games. I don't think you're that good.

If you would or have played KAMEO you would know that the Physics lighting and game play are key to what made Kameo next gen. You must have missed out on that fact some where.

Kameo is not the game that defines the 360 but it is very beautiful looking. The same game could be made on the PS3 but you are acting like the game was developed poorly or the 360's hard ware is not good enough to make the game next gen. DUDE you real wrong.

Dead rising uses havok physics and the zombies all have there own animation routines quirks and ragdoll physics and all cast shadows along with other objects although I don't know what shadows have to do with the cpu as they are generally done on the gpu
