1 - Nice
And I agree with his points on Dante's Inferno, looks far too similar to God of War, like they copied virtually all they could.

glad to hear Darksiders played well, I'm getting that and Castlevania alongside GOW3

Why all the fuss over this post? people clamouring to report and that? I don't visit N4G all the time, but far, far worse stuff gets put up here and nobody says anything about it, but someone putting up actual game related content gets so much stick, why?

On topic: I think Dante's Inferno "borrows" a lot from GOW series, that's not necessarily a bad thing, remember guys imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

that's just how N4F(News 4 flamers) works, post up an article about PS3 selling like crap in the USA(the only nation in the world by the way) and you'll get approved in minutes and reach 1080degrees in 12 mins, post actual game content/videos/podcasts and people fight over it like they are preserving some holy grail, N4G had turned to crap long ago anyway.

I don't mind a game borrowing some ideas from another but Dante's Inferno, although being developed by a good studio with a really good previous game (deadspace), seems to be a 1:1 clone of GOW and is a calculated atempt by EA to capitalize on the popularity of GOW. Why would I buy GOW 3 twice? I was really looking forward to Dante's Inferno before but after seeing the latest video form Comic-con I must wait to see how it turns out.

1.4 - Yes
The game does look very similar, and it's ok to copy other ideas for games, but when you seem to just copy everything the other game does, well that's just sad.

@nycredude: I too was very keen on DI, until I saw the latest videos, however it doesn't come as a surprise to me, considering all the first previews of Dante's Inferno had the word 'God of War' more times in the article than 'Dante's Inferno'

Very true, agreed. I think they shouldn't have used the source material either, if all they intended to do was create a GOW-clone, I mean they are butchering that epic poem

It's not just that, I'd be fine with them using GOW as their base material or taking inspiration from it, but completely copying the game, and changing the character models and environements, just doesn't cut it.

EDIT: looks like most agree with me :)

1.8 - you know...
i think there wouldn't be such a big fuss had VG copied only 50-75% of GOW gameplay, added their own style and touch to it,some innovations here and there, under a different setting&atmosphere....just like how Deadspace turned out.

The problem here is..well it's obvious isn't it? DI is a blatant rip-off/carbon copy of GOW, you just can't help but notice the signature GOW-style everywhere in the game.

ZOMG God Of War III looks and sounds incredible. In JJ's words, 'THE game of 2010.'

Darksiders is looking great too, definitely gonna watch it closely.

Agreed, Dante's Inferno is looking like a cheap rip-off right now, I expected more from Visceral Games, but no less from EA. Sigh.

I agree with you guys. I don't mind if a game takes inspiration from another game or borrows certain elements, but Dante's Inferno has crossed the line in becoming a complete rip-off. Anybody who has played through the God of War games can instantly see that Dante's Inferno has copied virtually everything.

Even the setting really isn't all that unique. Both games have you fighting through nightmarish landscapes and fiendish enemies. One might be set in a mythical ancient Greece and the other in Hell, but the end effect is basically the same.

It looks good, but I wish they would have done something a bit more original, instead of simply ripping off another successful game.

This won't end well for this game. I mean, how do you follow GOW, pretty much THE definitive action hack and slash game of last and thi gen? All the reviews will compare this game to GOW and unless it can surpass GOW (ummm won't happen), then it is set up for failure.

IMO, after having play all three GOW games so far, I can honestly say I don't think any game in the genre can ever match up to it in terms of sheer scale, and the amount of jaw dropping experienc those games brought to the table!

When I first played GOW1 I literally had to pick my jaw off the ground over and over again. I played the whole game with a huge grin, thinking this game can't get any better than this, then shortly after it does! Just epic!

3.3 - he's primarily a comic artist
http://www.joemadfan.com/#

You may not know of him but Im positive you've played chracters drawn by him, seen posters drawn by him or read a comic drawn by him. Some of his darkstalkers and streetfighter pics have been removed......thats a shame

No need to bust his nuts ;)

Did you get to see any other levels/environements from God of War III?

I should probably be asking this at his site.

I wont have to worry about getting multiplayer trophies like i will have to with uncharted 2. Single player FTW. Sometimes i just want a beginning middle and an end period

what i like best about it is that the build they have now is only 720p, the director promises it will be upgraded to full 1080p, this will be amazing,

7 - Although Dante seems to heavily borrow from GOW,
in terms of how it plays- and that sequence in the video where volcano creature is attacking Dante while he battles the smaller minions; reminded me too much of GOW-II beginning sequence with the statue - it still manages to differentiate itself from art style, it's a bit different when it comes to monsters, and also story-wise (obviously). So, not necessarily a bad thing, if it turns out alright: we'll be getting two of the greatest games.

Dantes Inferno borrows allot from GOW but if you look at the weapons and such it seems it also borrowed from Ninja Gaiden, Darksiders looks good definitely keeping an eye on that game and as for God of War well what is there to say we all know PS3 owners are buying it, 360/Wii fanboys hating on it and all gamers respecting it.
