Wardevil is still alive, unleashing new info soon

Accusations of vapour-ware against Digi-Guy's Wardevil progressed into late last year, but now there's new signs that the project is still alive and well.

Wardevil: Unleash the Beast Within, originally announced in 2005, was first cancelled for the Xbox 360 and then became a mysterious PlayStation 3 exclusive that would earn gradual screenshot and trailer leaks throughout the past four years.

Ignition Entertainment is the game's publisher, also responsible for King of Fighters XII, and today unveiled a new revamped official website for the company.

If you make your way over to Ignition's new website you'll find that the very first game to be publicised is Wardevil: Unleash the Beast Within.

i really need a gameplay trailer soon because i don't buy into all the hype about its supposedly benchmark-setting gfx. Since the likelihood of Wardevil surpassing KZ2 gfx is close to nil, i hope they are really bringing something new to the action genre

Couldn't find any confirmation of it's exclusivity on the Wardevil site either.

This could be multi now. Wouldn't surprise me with the way that the market is nowadays. Shame, as I prefer exclusives (for any system; makes the best of things instead of splitting resources).

If i remember correct it was multi to start with and then went ps3 exclusive.

maybe thats changed now who knows. I was so impressed when i saw the first trailer for this game. This along with a number of other games looked

now i don't really know what to think, a lot of those games that looked so impressive have not seen the light of day.

My expectations have somewhat been lowered now. the few games that do look that good have all been lacking in a lot of other areas.

5 - It does seem like they're making headway

According to the article they had to make the engine, the game itself, and an animated short. I hope this comes to fruition as I enjoy games like Heavenly Sword and Dead Space that attempt to create an entire mythos in conjunction with the game's release. In fact, I highly recommend watching both 6-part animated shorts off PSN before playing either game. And there's also the DS animated full-length movie you can rent too. Helps to create tension in the game before you ever play it.

Point is, we'll know if this game is real and not vaporware if they bring out Waredevil Chronicles anytime soon. The animation is even similar to Samurai Jack and Heavenly Sword.

We were promise ingame story not animated cartoon but real time 3D animation, what happen to the game that was shown with real time 3D story that showed alot of blood and gore in the game WTF is this. I want the real Wardevil game back like in these videos.

These are the real WarDevil we all saw at E3 I like it 3D not comic booky like style but 3D graphics using its own engine. this is what i want more of ingame graphics that showed the scale of blood and gore by sticking guys with blades and seeing the blood coming out like that is cool as hell.

The prob with this game , is that it's biggest impact yet would be the graphics , however the more they delay , the more chances it will be indeed beautiful , but not that impressive when compared to some other ps3 (or 360 ) games .

My prediction.

You will hear more info at Game Developers Conference 2010. I wouldn't surprised if the delay's and secrecy have nothing to do with the game itself. Or that the game is even tat far into development at all.

one of the big announcements about this game was its RTE1080 (real time engine). They could be working on and tweaking this engine for more games. I wouldn't be surprised if RTE1080 will be licensed out to third party developers for future ps3 games.

I'm going to take a guess and say that the first real announcement will come at GDC.

18 - RTE 1080

I actually can't wait to see the RTE 1080 engine running full throttle. Specs on the engine are just as impressive as the Killzone 2 engine.

Building engines on new tech (parallel processing) takes alot of time and money for the R&D. However once achieved the refinements and optimization built off the game engine will only improve...look at Uncharted and the Naughty dog engine.
