I was thinking the same thing. It sucks, but it's not like there's a lack of games coming out for Christmas. Maybe that had something to do with the delay? Ahhh, conspiracies...

Anyway, a good game in 2009 will still be a good game in 2010.

Good Call Take2. Your game would have been slaughtered by the likes of Generic Warfare2 and Halo3.

many companies Fiscal year starts April 1st, as masterg above said.

someone said Take Twos starts Nov 1st. That would be the first time I ever heard of any gaming company with such a strange fiscal year. Normally they run in 3 month intervals, or quarters that break the year evenly. Oct-Dec, Jan-March, April-June, July-Sep. Most gaming companies seem to run the Fiscal year starting April 1st. I do believe a few run differently but I can't recall who or exactly when their fiscal year starts. If I'm not mistaken though only a few start their fiscal year Jan 1. But Take Two starting in Nov? That would be just weird. And honestly I don't think they do.

I think that Bioshock 2 is going to end up screwed. There are too many things that 2K is doing wrong. Bioshock does not need MP. It could turn out cool, but with three or four devs working on it, it seems a little "Too many cooks ruins the stew". Also, Bioshock is not a lackluster title, so it should be able to hold it own reasonably well against MW2. I think they are trying too hard to recreate the original and it is going to bite them in the ass.

Hm.. well I guess it's a good thing, I loved part 1 but part 2 doesn't seem to add too much changes and it would probably got lost in the ammount of games coming out near the holiday. I'd say, release it in February 2010..

6 - This is terrible
3 development teams have been added to help 2k marin, making it 4. I knew something was going on with this game.

Wow thanks Take 2. Talk about poor management. Red Dead, Mafia 2, and now Bioshock 2? F*CK Take Two!!!

OT: Extremely dissappointed, Bioshock was so amazing, I couldnt help not being excited about the sequel, and I even pre-ordered the damn game. The story and especially the twist I will never forget, the most memorable game of 2007. I am dissappointed that I wont be getting it sooner, but this could be for the better.

*cries*

Edit: Im saddened by this news, however if 2k marin can replicate the quality of the first game, then they can do whatever they want. I just dont think they can and thats why I thought we'd get it sooner.

Its not like they're Activision. This is awesome, I haveny played the first yet, but hope to pick it up in the next month or so, but it is good that companies are spreading their games out because there are just too many games coming in the holiday season.

Hey at least Borderlands is coming in October, so let 2K off the hook.

That's what we said about Haze and Too Giman though and it didn't happen. IDK about TH but FRD and Haze were the victims of a whole host of politics-hopefully that isn't the case here but that's exactly the kind of thing they won't tell us.

What gets me is why so many games held up st once at one publisher/developer-is there a crisis financially at 2K? To me it might mean a big cash flow issue meaning they can't, right now, afford to get the games out and promote them properly. Surely they can't ALL be having internal dev issues, can they?

I think Ken Levine shouldn't have left Bioshock. I mean, to make such a great game and then walk away means only one thing to me: He probably felt he had done all he could with the story. And considering Ken Levine's good status I would say that if he didn't feel the story needed a sequel then it probably doesn't so I will be skeptical about this game and hope to be pleasantly surprised

Well, it's understandable because a lot of people didn't connect with the story. In terms of an FPS the game is pretty much standard and you can get bored with it easily, but if you liked the story and understand what it's all about, then you probably will love it. Although I could be wrong. Some people may have hated the game even if they knew everything about the story.

10.2 - I felt that the premise of the story was amazing.
but the presentation of it was cheap. You only come in contact with Ryan and the Little sisters. The world itself had a wonderful atmosphere, but I couldn't connect to it because there was barely any character interaction. And talk about the cheapest ending in the history of games. With a story like bioshock, I expected a Metal Gear Solid Style ending.

but I wonder, with all these games coming out in 2010, won't it make it that much more crowded next year?

Yeah, the boss battle was very cheap and didn't fit in well with everything else the game had going for it. At the end of the day, Rapture was a beautiful idea and the story was great but the execution was a B- in terms of gameplay mechanics and ending.

So when Sony said all that about their games coming "fiscal year 2009" when do they mean? Because GOW, as we lways thought it would, is coming March 2010-which fiscal year are they using as I thought that statement was from SCEA? Very puzzling top those of us who don't know much of finance to follow, isn't ti?

What I really want to say won't make it past the content filter...so you'll have to use you imaginations. I'm sure you can. :)

Well, I guess it means I'll have a little more money to spend on other games this fall.

But it sucks nonetheless.

In a way, I'm almost relieved. We have Mordern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2 coming out in November...it was going to be extremely difficult to juggle these 3 monsters so in a way, I'm glad I have a little more space.

Personally, I don't mind postponements...that only mean's they're smoothing it over for a greater gaming experience. I mean I know they have updates and such, but I miss old-school games where it's getting it right the first time and that's that. Anyways, I can't wait to play this baby.

22 - Meh, it's for the best...
I am already anticipating various games later this year, this only helps to make this holiday season less expensive but gives us another reason to look forward to next year (which is gonna be another awesome year for gamers)...

These are the games I am looking forward to most this year...

September: Halo 3: ODST
October: Splinter Cell: Conviction
November: Left 4 Dead 2
December (possibly): Perfect Dark

Modern warfare is also something I will check out eventually. Next year, games like Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Aliens: Colonial marines, Halo: reach are at the top of my list.

2010 is shaping up to be the best year so far this generation for games.
