New PlayStation Home Survey Hints at New Features

PlayStation.com has sent out a new survey regarding PlayStation Home and TripleChat believes it's a hint of possible new features we could or perhaps should expect from the service within the next year. Remember the old promise of the trophy room and feature length films? Well, the survey has it.

What else does this survey gives us ideas about? Read up on what the survey asks as well as our interpretations after the jump.

1 - SONY WAKE UP!!!
Why SONY? Why do you continue to miss the point?

In-order for HOME to be a viable open-door to ALL PS3 users, you NEED to intergrate it directly into your dashboard. Give me a small 16:9 window to the bottom right of my screen where I'm always connected to HOME (atleast while not in game), give me a "Press Square for FullScreen". Let me control my avatar in the small view or fullscreen view. This would become a virtual Party System.

IS it possible? I have no idea. I'm not a ps3 programmer. I have no idea about the lack of resource and what can and can't be done. What i DO KNOW, is when your NOT in game if you can RUN HOME as a full screen application it should also be able to be ran in a windowed version. Stream it directly into the XMB, so we are always connected and BOOM you have yourself and OPEN DOOR into a gaming social network, where you can leech advertising dollars off your millions of users (which is ok by me).

Awesome idea, I don't see why they can't have that design with a little home box in the xmb, when they can have the xmb running in home(in game xmb)

1.8 - I think your conception of how HOME should be integrated with the XMB is hard to implement
Good ideas, but that's probably harder to pull of than the cross media chat feature that most PS3 users want. HOME is a very open platform to allow a broad range of game developers and commercial advertisers to build a game space that can be released to the consumers as quickly and efficiently as possible. Unfortunately this leaves the engine very unoptimized without having the extra system resources to run in the background of anything.

Your conception of how HOME should be integrated could be possible if the engine used was a 2D sprite based engine versus a full blown 3D engine i think. I agree with you, being completely socially connected is where this technology needs to get to in order to be effective. Hell, why not just have some good old fashioned chatrooms!

I have to admit that in my mind cures the disconnection issue with the xmb and home. Somehow they need to get both going at the same time, the xmb with the ease of access to stuff and home with the connection to the social network. Good idea LiQuiFiedArt.

1.10 - Its nice that you can want something like that.
But as I have said MANY times to people who say this kind of thing is easy to do. Do the Programing yourself and then show it to sony for an idea. Then and ONLY then will it be worth sony to listen and do.

1.12 - Sony promises
They promised all kinds of things when Home was first announced but now it seems more like if ANY of those feature are going to be released that they'll charge for them. I'd pay for a tv, up to $10, if it meant i could play my HDD stored movies in my Home space and invite friends over to watch. As long as it was a one-time fee and not a monthly charge.

I wonder how much M$ is gonna charge cuz their going to be doing this according to their E3 presentation.

it would be awesome if they had movies that are out in the theaters showing in home... they could charge $9-10 for admission like actual movie theaters. that would be sick

One feature Home needs is a way to View Multiplayer Games, even Games you don't own. You can view a Killzone2 deathmatch through Home and once people that don't own it see how much fun it is It may increase sales. Or watch the top 2 madden Players go head to head in a game. The possiblities could be great.

4.1 - Exactly!!!
Imagine being able to go into Warhark and access one of the overhead video screens. From there you're able to spectate on any of the Home Launched games of Warhawk. Then you could just pop in the disc, and presto your in the game. Now that would be sweet.

It would also be cool if the screens showed streaming videos of gameplay and trailers all the time. That way non-Warhawk owners could get an idea of just how much fun they are missing out on.

Can we PLEASE get that trophy room already?

I'm shocked that Sony has yet to even BRING IT UP since launching Home!
