Crysis PS3 bound?

Looks like the Crysis to PS3 rumor has gained some considerable leverage as Crytek is now looking to hire additional PS3 programmers:

Responsibility:

* Development of a Next-Generation GameFramework based on CryEngine 2.0
* Work on various aspects of porting to PS3 and creating solutions to get the utmost out of the PS3
* Cross platform code development
* Create and maintain documentation
* Complete all tasks in a timely manner and to a consistent high quality standard

Crysis anyone? I been sitting here contemplating buying a Gaming PC just for this game only. But im in love with my Mac G5. Well if this is coming to PS3 then that saves me about 2 grand. I was looking at the Area 51- 7500.

They're the biggest money suckers in the world and will make anything multiplatform.

They are only hiring PS3 programmers, because the 360 can be programmed by the PC programmers. It's easy and compatable because it's MS making that and Windows XP/Vista.

PS3 producing means problems, that's why they need extra people to get the work done, or get the minor ports a bit up. Like we've seen with other multiplatform games, they don't succeed.

I have to ask, wouldn't you rather have a team dedicated to getting the most out of a platform working on it. You say that PC developers can handle a 360 version of whatever this is referring to (can't confirm Crysis yet). The fact of the matter is PC developers could handle doing either a 360 OR PS3 version, but the question is how well would they do. Don't be naive enough to think that developing on the 360 is equally as easy as developing on the PC. They are still different platforms with different strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, when its all said and done the 360 is a more difficult platform to develop for than the PC no matter how you look at it, the architecture is just too different.

If they were to go this route, you may still get a quality product, but I'd much rather have a team working on a specific platform exclusively so they can devote as much time as necessary towards optimizing for that platform.

If they are going to bring it to both 360 and PS3 without a specific 360 team, then I feel sorry for those locked into a 360 because they won't get the better product.

Do they mean porting from PC to PS3?

Or could they mean porting from PC/360 to PS3? Because from what I've read it seems that making a game for the PC/360 is similar. Maybe they're pulling a Valve (HL2 to consoles) and already have it ready for the 360 or something.

I don't know. Good nonetheless, I want Crysis and my comp can't handle it.

Appearently this is a Search for "ADDITIONAL" Devs. Keyword "ADDITIONAL. Wich means the original search was 6 months ago. Now they need more guys. And the reason its more likely a crysis port is the job description mentions porting to PS3 real heavy.
