Gran Turismo 5 publicity begins with Citroën

Gran Turismo 5 publicity starts with Citroën and Polyphony Digital's supercar.

Racing London in Gran Turismo 5 was a fantasy we thought we'd never be able to enjoy in real-life. That's somewhat true, but today Citroën offered their stunning concept supercar, the GTbyCITROËN, to the city an recreated the circuit featured in Gran Turismo 5.

You can find a couple of photographs of the car's tour of London below, but be warned, one photo is not as it seems.

I may be wrong but... I first have done it the hard way. Take a closer look at the car and people. People look more natural, it was always easy to differ GT from real pictures by human models. They're a bit more sterile than natural, clothing isn't photorealistic in GT. Also if you look at car picture 1 and 3 have some blurity that may be a result of camera photo. Pics 2 and 4 are different. Details are sharp.

But then I noticed easier way to differ them. Pics 1 and 3 lack barriers that are visible on 2 and 4 and aren't actually looking like pictures taken during a race or demo. 1 and 3 look more like taken during everyday life, which was the only environment for the campaign at the time of making it. Event is in few weeks and I'm not sure they'll throw some concrete blocks on the streets.

I think that's one of the most impressive things in GT5P - it's the lighting. One of the few to actually create a realistic lighting system. I think Forza 3 has shown quite a big improvement in that area over Forza 2 though.

I have been staring at these for 5 minutes and they all look real to me. Is this site pulling a fast one or are some of those pictures actually from GT5?

After seeing the update I guess my question was answered. Some are GT5.

Personally I'm not impressed, it's very easy to tell the difference. Maybe it's the added damage modeling, but I think Prologue looks better.

Still it's a pretty cool little contest. I entered even though I have no desire to own any of those prizes. Haha

I think 4 and 6 are both in game...but those are easily some of the most impressive real time graphics, in a photo-realistic sense...I have ever come across...

some are obvious...why do most of the game shots all involve the car moving?...that is usually a give away, because the motion blur seems far less 'analog' like it does with an expensive camera...

had all these shots been of the car parked still...it would probably be a lot more difficult...

still though...the in game motion shots are every bit as impressive as those pre-rendered concept shots you see in mags like Road and Track...where they release a artist's speculation of an upcoming Ferrari or something...it looks hyper real in a way...you can't find exactly what it is that looks fake, but you know overall its not quite reality...that is an awesome thing for car guys...

and yeah...leave the Forza 3 stuff out of it...Forza 3 has come a LONG way over Forza 2...great for the 360 guys...and Forza 3 now has incredible in car views and everything too...I just want to see more of GT5...barely anything has really been shown...but they did confirm that E3 teaser to be in game...so PD is definitely at the wheel of a visual beast as well...

^^basically...with updated cars and tracks though...but its probably close to GT4's engine with reduced resolution...GT4 could be rendered at 1080i with the PS2, if you had component cables and a display to handle it (much less normal back then)...PD's own moto GP based 'Tourist Trophy' used that engine also...but I forget the PSP's res...and its not 1080i obviously...

GTHD also ran on GT4's engine, only emulated at 1080p instead...just to fill in a little GT trivia...also GT5P did not use the GT4 engine in any way...it was said to be a 'stripped' version of what would later come with GT5...the car models would be similar to the final product (which now has damage apparently)...and background details would be similar in terms of lighting and things...but the final game was said to have procedural weather effects on top of whats already been shown...which will drastically change how the game 'looks' most likely...

You know that GT by Citreon was a joint project Polyphony Digital and Citreon, don't you? Did you know it has 789 bhp.

Porsche Carrera GTA is 612 bhp.
Lamborghini Reventón is 640 bhp

When u look at forza 3 pics and real life pics, its hard to tell the difference, and see the thing with forza pics were that the game pics were all on racing tracks, so all u had to do was look at the real pic and know that its not on a track, see gt5 thought they were smart, lets compare to environments That are the same with less detail in the real pic, and more detail in the game. What you dumbass xbutts don't understand is that GT5 has a achieved a realistic lighting effect to the cars and tracks where as Forza3 has kept the same due to the inability to produce dynamic lighting on the 360 hardware. Forza 3 has this CGI vibe to it which kind of makes it obvious that it's a game, whenever there's a comparison between real-0life & GT5 normally it take a person a good 10-15 seconds to realise which one is real.
