wow I wonder if you actually have any evidence for any of those accusations. I've seen the sites creator to have been labelled a nintendo, sony and microsoft fanboy at various points. It just goes to show that some people care too much about videogames sales figures. Seriously don't make it your lives. You may disagree and think the ps3 or the wii or whatever to be undertracked by 100K but does it really matter?

Vgchartz is a tracking service that estimates figures. Are they 100% accurate? No! Are they better than anything anyone on here could randomly estimate? Yes! Especially the mountains of fanboys that think they know better than they really do.

The Gran Turismo franchise proves, yet again, why it is ranked amongst the highest franchise in the world, next to the likes of Mario, Final Fantasy and Pokemon.

Like most of the greatest franchises for teens and adults, it is exclusive for the Playstation brand.

In Europe alone, the glorified demo of the highly anticipated number 5, has sold over 2 million copies.

It should be clear to anyone that the franchise is an absolute BEAST. Its enemies are wise to fear it. And should do well to shake in their boots when number 5 comes out at the end of the year or beginning of next.

At 1.3 just to let you know the 3 million numbers that was posted on VGChartz is only hardcopies sold not including the one that was bought and downloaded from PSN due to the fact that they said they can't keep track of how much the game got downloaded from the PSN just as the headlines stated:
"GT 5:Prologue is availible on Blu-ray disc as well as via Playstation Network. However, there is no mention on Polyphony's page if the salesnumbers include downloads from PSN or not".

I got this quote from the top page. So just wanna make a correction. Just wanna let you know VGchartz is not accurate most of the time but they do their job. There are times they can be biased but overall they are 75% correct to 25 % incorrect on their numbers but I think this time they are pretty much close on their estimates.

I'm actually worried how GT5 will do because of GT5P's sales. A large fraction of Prologue's buyers will probably still with Prologue.

Also, hasn't the US been the biggest market for GT? I don't think the franchise will do as well considering PS3 has the lowest install base in the US.

Say what you want about Forza 3's features, but Gran Turismo is one of the biggest Racing Sim's of all time, and GT has always been about delivering the premiere Driving Experience.

And who knows, maybe GT5 will have just as many features as Forza 3, but even if it doesn't, it still will sell more (I sure will be buying it day one) and pretty much it's the main Racing Sim that many racing fans across the globs have been waiting for, not Forza 3 and it's features.

They try to talk about sales but Forza 2 came out in May 07 and has sold 3.9 million copies on a larger 360 userbase. GT5P came out in April 08 (here in the US), is not even the full game, and is on the smaller console userbase and it still sells 3.67 million.

It's clear that Gran Turismo carries a LOT more weight with it's console base than Forza does with xbox.

GT4 didn't sell as good as GT3, why? beacuase when GT4 came out the PS2 market was saturated with a countless sea of exclusive AAA for PS2 to choose from.

when GT3 came out near the PS2 launch, there was that many AAA games and GT3 was pretty much the reason to buy a Sony PS2 at the time, reason why such high sales for that one game.

that is pretty much why gears of war 2 sold well on the xbox 360 last year there weren't any other AAA's to buy for that system so they are all stuck buying and playing the same boring game.

with a already unbeatable line up of exclusive AAAs for 2009 and 2010 on Sony PS3 when ever GT5 drops it's gonna be really hard for people to choose from GT5 to Heavy Rain or God of War 3 or Trico ect.

Sony PS3 = monthly AAAs.
xbox 360 = 1 AAA a year maybe.
