I don't care where they release it, just release it! I've been waiting for a new Diablo experience since I absolutely picked apart the Lord of Destruction expansion to Diablo 2, and that was nearly EIGHT YEARS AGO. It's time for some more Diablo!

I agree with arsenal. It's home is on battle net and I have been following this game a lot more then the author of this junk has imo. The mouse/ keyboard is just a better fit. It makes sense... I can't see how they would do it well with analog sticks.

THIS IS BLIZZARD. It wont be coming to consoles...

Of course it fits on consoles. Just like Baldur's Gate or Champions Of Norrath did, years ago. Those gameplay mechanics are ideal for joypads.

@ Jinxstar

Hey I agree with it staying PC exclusive, but anything can happen.

Granted EA was involved.

"THIS IS BLIZZARD. It wont be coming to consoles..."

Activision = Blizzard ...and its fair to share =P ...and its gonna sell so why not make twice as much money and release it on console.

I mean we all got computers and laptops we can use but its just so much better to sit back relax and play using a controller.

2 - I would love it on PS3
I just don't really enjoy playing PC games as much anymore, so yeah i'd love it to come to consoles.

Lets be honest here though, Blizzard hates the consoles. So the most logical conclusion would be that it's just not going to happen, do I have to remind anyone here of StarCraft Ghost?

I don't think Blizzard hates consoles they just haven't made a game that belongs on them yet.

They only show that they are 1000% interested actually

Outlaw. Yeah it was and it was horrible.

Edit: Basically what them and gamespot and the few other site have to say in general is "PC version is better" and "It's good for a port"...

Feel the way you want men. D3 would make a very poor game for consoles and not live up to the rabid fanbases expectations. I am part of that base. I have many friends who are part of that base. Not people who are "Oh if it comes to 360 I may try it out" These are guys who would invest thousands of hours...

i don't understand why it wouldn't work on consoles

diablo isn't an overly complicated game, you don't need tons and tons of buttons like warcraft

diablo is a game that is pretty much devoid of modding so if blizzard were to get cross platform battlenet running what is the issue? console gamers wouldn't miss out on the community aspect because it is all there

i think it would be fantastic, i'll get diablo 3 on any platform i can but i'd rather play it on my huge tv and couch as opposed to my pc in a dark room

diablo 3 on console online with voice support would be amazing

Ok Think about you being in the center of your screen. Now put your mouse all the way to the right side. Move it all the way to the left/top/bottom and all 4 corners. How long would it them to make a way for a controller to do that. you need to be able to switch targets very rapidly. It's not a "Your in the general direction" its a "Click on the guy to kill him" and when there is 50 mobs on all sides doing different thing and you have to be precise with your kill otherwise something bad will happen... It would be very very hard to get to work on consoles.

Hell put you mouse on the start of this line
_____________________________ ______________________________ _ ______
No move it back and forth clicking on each end. You can do that right? How can you do that on consoles? They will have a static mouse that will move like molasses.

I am a big diablo fan and it is an incredibly complicated game.

Get ventrillo. It's free for voice chat. You can have 40 or more people on the same line talking.

Edit: Let me give you an example from the 20 minute footage they released. There are these mage bad guys. They are weak and easy to kill. If however they are given a few seconds they will summon a big beasty guy who is hard to kill. You go into a room and they are scattered all over the place. You need to be precise on hitting them fast with your charge. The charge stomp has a very small kill radius. So you need to go top, top right, far right, bottom right and bottom to kill them all fast. I don't know how many games ported from PC to console you have played before (i.e. RTS like star craft or point and click games are prime examples. I have and I can tell you they really suck.) but when they put in a static mouse the sensitivity is all over the place. plus with moving guys all over and not mobs that just "Stands" there. It gets very hard.

The game is designed from ground up for PC and you know what. I could see it working on PS3 due to mouse and keyboard support. If the 360 released something like that ok but with a controller it would be very very slow.

In diablo 2 just picking up loot takes a while. Imagine your trying to get this mouse to scroll right over a pile of loot and you want to pick up something specific because of limited inventory space. you click a little fast and now you need to open you inventory, scroll to it, take it out and drop it... This is easy and quick with a mouse, let alone emptying your bags back at camp. It takes a whooping 7 seconds to click drag and drop to sell... With a controller this would just be a hassle and a half...

Blizzard is a very talented team. They may figure out what many have gotten wrong all these years but the truth is Consoles "CAN'T" play everything that PC's can and many people seem to think they can. The controls are just not accurate enough. the same goes the other way. God of War could not be played on PC with mouse keyboard effectively imo. If a PC gamer bought a controller thats different just like a console guy buying a mouse/keyboard. However they would have to make it support controllers or risk a huge loss. Also Battle.net is going Pay to Play with D3. you need internet access to do this. How many console gamers would want to pay 10$ or so a month on top of what they already might play... There is a lot of risk.

Lastly PVP will be grossly imbalanced if one uses mouse and another uses controller. They can't have this otherwise gamers will cry foul and dump the game and give it crap reviews and such.

Basically they should stick with what they know and do it well. I have faith that if anyone could do it it would be Blizz but I just can't see it.

Mostly what I think Jinxstar.

Diablo 2, at least, sees you leaping around the map and clicking on stuff. To bring it to consoles would mean they would need to simplify:

- Picking up items; press one button and you pick up everything close-by
- Inventory management; must be simpler to work on consoles (by the look of things, this is what they have done)
- Targeting; you would have to point your character in the direction of your attack and then it would auto-aim towards an enemy
- More complex strategies would go away; for instance you wouldn't be able to use the "meteor" spell or similar to pre-empt an enemy's movements, because of the required lock-on

I just don't think it would be as fun.

I'm pretty fed up of consoles in general, now that they're essentially proprietry PCs. I'd prefer to hook my PC up to my TV and play ALL my games from that - using bluetooth mouse and keyboard if needs be.

I agree with you thor. For the most part I have been following D3 pretty heavily. My roommate and I still play 2. If they dumb the game down for consoles I wont be buying it and I can guarantee a vast majority of their fanbase will dump it too. If console owners do pick it up it will be a "Flavor of the week" game for them "You mean I need to log about 2000 hours to reach a high level" attitudes... console gamers don't see that this isn't a 'buy, play, return' game. You have a key thats specific to your account and otherwise... There are too many issues with it coming to consoles.

I enjoy playing PC games. I enjoy console games and this is not like God of war where you have a huge hit radius when you swing. this is not a "use the analog to move" game it's point and click. It always has been and it works. Blizz would be making a huge mistake in bringing it to consoles.

Sorry to you guys who don't have a good PC. I traded in my 360 to build mine up and now I can play Crysis on high.

back on topic though. Thor if you haven't gone to the D3 site they have 20 min of gameplay that just watching it I have no clue how it could be done. Things like auto loot would be horrible with the very limited bag space that is in D3...

Why wouldn't they make the game for PC and PS3 since the PS3 has keyboard and mouse support?

5 - At last, Diablo as was supposed to be played, not just click around but actually control the hero for 1000x more immersive gameplay
I am definatly going for the console version (360), can't wait

I hated the PC controls back then, never felt like you are in the action, now with a pad will be like infinitly better in gameplay feeling

And this would be great for Blizzard, since it could well sell 5-6 million more than PC alone

Do many people still play Diablo 2? After seeing footage of 3 I've been really keen on trying it out, but not if its got a small population online. Or is it playable/any good single player?

Great SP campaign. It's fairly cheap right now as well. There are a good amount of people online. however many are waiting for the current patch to release. My roommate and I still play and there are quite a few peeps online as well. Not anything like most games these days but for a nearly 10 year old game thats pretty good. =D

I picked up Sacred 2 for the PS3 this week and they (imo) have pulled off a great control set. 16 hotkeys plus other functions! It took a little getting use to the controls but now I find them fast and easy to use. The menu system also works great. If you don't think this style of game can work on a console, pick up Sacred 2 and give it a try (and scratch that itch until Diablo 3).

I'd love to see Diablo 3 make the leap to the PS3! I'd have it on day 1!
