Sigma: Constant 60 FPS, 1080P & Real Time Self-Shadowing..."Never Been Done"
32
In a Q&A interview with Team Ninja game dev Yosuke Hayashi he states the following in response to a question ask to him by Gamepro.
GamePro: Can you talk about the overall graphics and what people can expect technically from Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the PS3?
Yosuke: It's not so much that we brought the game over to the PS3 as it is we more or less are recreating Ninja Gaiden with the most up-to-date graphic techniques in order to take advantage of the hardware. In order to have this be a great experience for both people who are new to the series as well as those who've enjoyed it since the beginning, we want to provide an experience that looks totally new and fresh. One of the best ways to do that was to have a game that runs at a 1080p with a constant 60 fps, and utilizes real-time self-shadowing. No other game as accomplished all three of these goals at once.

while i don't doubt that they will get to 1080p, it kinda seemed like he dodged actually confirming that sigma will be there... i'm sure it will, but it seems like he used an odd choice of words. maybe i just wanted a "ninja gaiden sigma will run at 60 fps at 1080p"
do i ask too much?

2 - 1080P, Constant 60 FPS and Self Shadowing
They pull that off and this maybe the best looking game to hit a next gen console soo far.
@ Violator: 46 Inch Sony Bravia XBR.... the only way to Next-Gen Game...lol So yes 1080P would get the blood flowing. I love to see what I spent my 3 grand on... well I already do. But I want to see more...lol

2.1 - How is that even possible. Multiple Microsoft executives already said 1080p would be impossible
Will there be an add on ram pack or something to make this work?

2.2 - It's partially due to having incredibly
high bandwidth between the CPU and GPU, as well as some other aspects I won't get into since they usually start flame wars. However, if you want to learn more, just send me a PM and I'll tell you (and others) some really cool tech stuff.

But if Sigma ends up with 1080P I think that will be sweet.

4.1 - People with 1080p TV's aren't the only ones who should be happy
People with 480/1080 only sets should also be happy. This game looks like it's gonna rock.

I don't think the 1080p is a mistake, not long ago they were saying it would be 720p. If they're saying 1080p now they probably had some breakthroughs in programming.

8 - Good interview.
I liked the part when asked if it was hard to develope for.
"If we can do it then other people will be able to do it as well."
F*&^ing A, like I've always said. The results are there for those that relish the challenge and do the hard work, just like anything worth doing.

9 - Insane !!!
Definitely going to be awesome, especially when a game doesn't loads at all and runs at 60 fps. 1080p is an icing I'm sure players who'll purchase the system 2 to 3 years from now will certainly enjoy. Sony was aware that not all of folks will buy a PS3 in year 1, so they made the smart move of having 1080p onboard so that even in future the year-1 games will still be looking fresh. I know I'm gonna love Sigma !!!

These are 3:rd party devs right? Doing these things as a 3:rd party has to show Sony's dedication to give the right tools to devs even not inside the 1:st ring.

16 - Good interview
if they can make it in 1080p now, that would be great, but it`s far more important to get the constant 60fps. Sigma will look good anyway, and a game like this needs to run fluid. You don`t want to die because of a bad fps.

Uh...I said they were doing this. Ne'er mind. There's quite a few 1080p 60fps games out. Ridge racer 7, Virtua Tennis 3...the Virtua guys said they had no trouble getting it to 1080p, it was just about programming it well. So if team ninja get this breakthough, expect it to follow on other games.
You do have to think about how many enemies are on screen though...there wil be hundreds in Heavenly Sword, but not many in Ninja.

19 - Team NINJA
Is a great group of developers who can bring the best out of your console no matter if it is SONY's or M$'$. I'm just glad they are around. Come 2009 when it is optimal to buy a PS3 I'll pick this up for sure. 1080p 60fps sounds like why I do what I do. Good games MUFUKAS GOOD GAMES.

Well 1080 is awesome! I have a 1080p TV, so it's all good. I wonder if there has been some kind of breakthrough in graphics processing.......Maybe Playstation Edge or whatever it's called, has something to do with this.

I don't have a PS3 yet, but I have the original on the XBOX - actually managed to beat it, and bought the Black version also. If you have a PS3 - Pre-order NOW!!!
It was a beautiful game on the XBOX, but these PS3 screens? Wow! Simply breath taking.

I'll only be playing it on a 36" 720p screen since I'm poor, but anything under 40" shows no real difference between the two resolutions, so I'm sure it will still look phenomenal :). Never played NG before, though I've heard great things about it. I can't wait :)

not the Black version on Xbox.
This game will give us an idea of what Ninja Gaiden 2 will be like. Since I don't plan on buying PS3 anytime soon, Part 2 will be owned.
Looks good tho..well if you have the right tv, which I doubt 80% of gamers in here do. But kudos to Team Ninja.
