EA Hints At Possible Multiplayer For Next Dead Space

Hell Descent Writes "EA has started an online survey for Dead Space with some interesting multiplayer based questions. We received the email in our inbox with the exciting "You've played the game…Now Tell Us What You Think" email. The survey asks what kind of modes do you enjoy, would co-op be a fun addition and if Zero-G deathmatch sounded like a fun multiplayer type. Luckily the survey made sure to ask more than just multiplayer based questions. The survey continues to ask about new function and how to improve the scariness. With these kind of surveys it good to know that EA is looking into a Dead Space sequel/prequel.
Feel free to take a stab at the survey. Who knows, maybe your participation will make the next Dead Space better in some way."

I doubt it, the creators were really intoxicated about scaring the crap out of people. They test out the scare factor first, what makes people hesitant to keep going, and modify it to make it worst (better).

I'm fine with the idea of Co-op but i want to be able to explore the area this time around without being dragged by my teammate to be in the same room. I know, they probably wont do that... but i can only wish.

I would love to see my teammate get maul, broken, eaten, and ripped apart by those sick looking Necromorphs. I like Dead Space.

I don't want co-op. It would take away the immersion.

I would love it if: they made a multiplayer mode in which you could play necromorph vs engineer/soldier character. In addition, make a multiplayer mode in which you fight other characters and random necromorphs spawn. Last but not least, make a survival mode.

Multiplayer could be a lot of fun :-)

Please no multiplayer. Some games should stay single player.

BTW, why does "multiplayer" get underlined by spell check? I thought it was a common word.

BTW stories about surveys are garbage. The survey itself should be linked.

Also, this survey seems fake. There is no mention of EA at the start of the survey and it looks like something someone created at home.

3 - For thos who think this is fake.
The survey is genuine. Finish it and it takes you to their website. It was received in an email from EA.
Stop reporting it.

I finished the survey yesterday. Multiplayer wouldn't be bad if it's entirely different from the single player experience. Although they should just make the game really long so no one can complain about the game being short even on hard.

Zero G deathmatch would be interesting, and co-op would be really sweet. No matter how they play it, I can't wait for the next one. Dead Space is the best horror game I've played in years. A real gem in a dying genre.

6 - it should have a Horde mode just like
the one in gears, but instead of locust, there should be those things from dead space.

7 - :) .. I dont care about MP
next time just put more gameplay variety , like killing enemies with throwing them around, or throwing objects toward them , add some stealth.. or etc..

the first game was AMAZING , nice visuals ,great gameplay,BEST SOUND,scary atmosphere...

I used to hate EA, but after Dead space I thought that Im wrong.(atleast for now lol)

co-op would be great. Something like RE5 co-cop would work but I dont know if a versus mode would make any sense unless one team controls the monsters which would be pretty awesome if done correctly. I'd really rather they put in co-op. The game was pretty scary but once you were stacked to the teeth with weapons it was pretty hard to get scared after the initial jump factor then after that it's just saw blade to the face time.

Kydrice if they must put multiplayer please let it be co-op an not another tacked on death match session. Personally I prefer the game the way it is with an amazing single player, great atmosphere and some of the best sound in any game ever. With the announcement of Uncharted 2 getting multiplayer I'm really starting to dread the possibility of a bunch of tacked on multiplayers for the sake of multiplayer. On amazing single player driven games which may or may not hinder the single player experience.

I was late to the DEAD SPACE party and have only just finished it (love the 'Military Suit'!) and found it an excellent, atmospheric experience.

But as with UNCHARTED 2, I have to wonder how multiplayer would work. How do you get that level of atmosphere in a free for all? Would the shadows have to go? The lighting and the subtle music?
Take them away and a lot of what made the game so good (and uniquely 'Dead Space') is taken away.

Even co-op... It might work, as long as there's no AI partner when the option isn't used (please!!!)

You have a lot of the same worries as me, you as well as many of us have experienced these games in their full on single player glory. without the need for multiplayer in the slightest, maybe a longer story mode but not a dire need for multiplayer. I to wonder if the same atmosphere can be transferred to multiplayer. For me a good example is almost like a JRPG versus an MMORPG I've never come across a single MMORPG that has had a story or atmosphere as epic as a single player full on JRPG. Also White Knight Story is a good example in the fact that the multiplayer is seperated from the single player experience all together for that exact reason.

Multiplayer changes a lot of things in many different ways. An games almost fully change once you get on the multiplayer minus FPS games for the most part. That difference is where the these two highly atmospheric an story driven games could take you out of that element of being in a world of your own.

9.2 - I agree with Enate and redsquad!
No one should make a survival horror game multiplayer, it just kills all sense of atmosphere. It's the main reason I didn't pick up Res 5 and I'm really worried about Bioshock 2. Dead Space was brilliant because of the tension which the spooky surround sound contributed to but if they make Dead Space 2's single player campaign based on a second player (ala Res 5) I won't be picking it up. For the last time: NOT EVERY BLOODY GAME NEEDS MULTIPLAYER!

"NOT EVERY BLOODY GAME NEEDS MULTIPLAYER!"

usually i don't like sentences written entirely with caps, but this time I approve.

I actually like what they did with the RE5 multiplayer (I didnt play it myself and I'm sure its crap but...), the game itself is still single player, if you really really want multiplayer you have to download it. Charging for multiplayer was almost like Capcom saying "look guys, this is a single player game, but we gonna make some cash from the people who think they know better"

Dead Space 2 just would probably benefit more from having a much longer story. Stretch it to 25 hours max so it ends up being 20-25 hours of insane tense gaming and you'll sell the game.

RE5 lost ALL horror. There is NONE in that game because of just co-op being present.(Of course Capcom didn't even try to make it horror with ambient sounds, or scares, or music, etc. I mean you go down a mine shaft with just a lantern for light and they didn't include creepy music/sounds, or quick flashes of zombies running by while you have that lil light around so only one person might notice it. Eff RE5)

If they do any type of MP in Dead Space they should just stick to simple survival type game types with up to 4 buddies and you try to survive as long as you can of increasing waves of Necromorphs. I don't need to be killing other Isaac's and hacking off their limbs, because based off of Dead Space 1 the controls wouldn't feel right in order for team death match stuff.

Either way Dead Space 2 will be one of my most eagerly awaited games once it's announced.

Co-op, multiplayer are not needed for every single game. Dead Space is fine the way it is.

What ever happen to the EPIC 1 player games??

OMG! Stop! This is just becoming stupid. Grow a set and keep it single player only. Quit complaining about multiplayer in a game you won't even be playing after a week.

14 - I'm confused about why anyone wouldn't want multiplayer in EVERY game.
Now mind you, I'm pretty new here, I'm even fairly new to this generation of gaming and I almost skipped the whole 6th generation (I had a Dreamcast). But why would anyone outright refuse multiplayer? Isn't multiplayer for most games considered a "bonus" of sorts? I've always thought of Online content in single player games as free stuff thrown on top of the main course?

So, if someone's giving out free stuff, I don't care if it's totally bad to me, I'll still accept it, even if I never use it........I can always not use it right?

So maybe a few of you could enlighten me as to why some people do NOT want multiplayer in every single game imaginable?

Multiplayer doesn't always make the game better as it's the quality of the game and not it's bells and whistles that get them sold. I know I don't base my decisions to purchase a game based on up to how many players can play at one time. It's all in it's appeal and games like dead space and uncharted have enough that it doesn't need MP.

I hear you in that the amount of players shouldn't and probably doesn't matter to most gamers, it certainly doesn't to me.

But I have made decisions on a couple games were 1 had an online mode and the other did not. Since they both carried similar scores, I chose the one with online multiplayer capabilities.
