How in the hell did this game sell nearly two million? Did this game have some 50 cent bulletproof voodoo? Seriously this game was only acceptable.

It was a good game, not the best in the series but definitely a good game. Also factor in the Batman appeal of 2008 with the release of TDK and the fact that the fighter is returning in the eyes of many.

This is why bad movies and bad games are allowed to be made. Because you have enough people here in the States who will buy crap.

MK vs. DC was not a bad game, especially considering the restrictions by both DC and the ESRB it was a pretty good game.

And FYI, this is worldwide,

I don't know if this number includes the Kollectors Edition since it wasn't include in previous numbers either. Gamestop even said the Kollector's edition was the better selling of the two "sku's". If that is the case then it would have sold well over 2 million and is the most successful Mortal Kombat game in a while.

4 - This was a better game than most people think.
I find that those who actually spent a real amount of time with the title grew to thoroughly enjoy. Also, the mass appeal of popular DC characters is big. MK already has its fans, but DC has tons of them.

I agree, considering the popularity of DC comics at the time it probably helped more people get into Mortal Kombat.

5 - i'm sorry but it was a total suck fest for me.. i didn't enjoy it..
mortal kombat just isn't what it use to be.. I loved 2 and 3 and even ultimate MK3 but the others have just been total MEH!!! this game was to just a qucik way to cash in on the success of the DC franchise because MK has been nothing but trashy since it hit the 3d era.. I soppose the selling appeal was the fact that the joker and the batman were playable.. The Dark Knight sells it self even through this rubbish game.. Good for MIDWAY though, I'm glad they managed some profit. and i'm glad they got alot from this game.. >_>

I personally liked it and am happy to see it was a success for Midway, I hope MK 9 will really reinvent the series in the eyes of many and put MK back on the map for the masses.

The MK team worked hard on this project and its good to see it paid off, the tech to make a fighting game with the Unreal Engine 3 is already in place so here's for a kick ass MK 9!

7 - MK9 should be better...
than MK vs DC in every way. I enjoyed MK vs. DC and hope that the series can be genuinely reinvented in the next installment. Gimmicks can be fun (Joker vs Scorpion anyone?), but it doesn't stand as a true gaming evolution of the genre or series. I hope MK9 is that evolution, for both Midway, MK fans everywhere, and the series itself.

Dear lord i hope those people who bought that pretty mediocre game just because of DC , will do the same in masses when DC universe online arrives ...

Truth be told , i was "agreably" surprised , since with the way it looked , felt , and it's awful animation in all trailers .... i expected far worse . But it's still probably the worst Mortal Kombat , and doesnt deserve such numbers ... but oh well , midway deserved some bit of break to survive .
