CONFIRMED: Team ICO at E3 2009

It's no secret that ICO and Shadow of the Colossus creator Fumito Ueda will be speaking at GDC this month, but now CGReviews has good news about Team ICO's next project. Not only will it be revealed at GDC (if everything goes according to plan), but they'll also reveal a trailer and gameplay at E3 2009.

If Shadow of the colossus 2 is shown at E3...I will cry with joy. Team Ico are my heroes. I'm like one of 3 people who bought Ico when it first came out. But please let that go. A next generation 'Shadow' would make the earth shake. But, I would need to know that it wasn't arriving in 2012, before I ran to Gamestop and bought a PS3.

One could dream can't they? But, you can't go wrong with Team Ico. After what they accomplished with 'Shadow' on the PS2; it's almost scary to even think about what they could pull off this generation. 'Shadow' was one of the reasons I wished PS3 was still backwards compatible. Xbox 360 made the resolution on the older games even better..I was hoping for the same results on the PS3. I would buy a used one if they didnt hike the price so high to sell them.

Ico and SotC are both brilliant games, even by todays standards. But they were both very underratted as well and didn't enjoy enough hype, which is good in a way cos no one expected too much, let alone a couple of the best games ever made and they became kinda cult status.

This time however, masses are waiting with baited breathe. Probably even people who didn't play the first two because they've heard all about them and are waiting for the next one.

The pressure on this game is immense, maybe even more than MGS or KZ before it. How do you back up 2 games like Ico and Shadow? And it will probably be a new IP so its even harder to bring something new yet capture that same essense.

Whatever it is, it has to be EPIC, a word that gets used to much these days, but anyone whose seen the size of a tower in the castle in Ico, or stared down at the ground while holding on for dear life to a Collosus knows the grandness in scale I speak of.

PS
I expect the animation and lighting to be brilliant, something both games are known for.

I remember reading all about how we need to wait til E3 so we can see what Microsoft has in store.

I don't think it'll matter. Sony already has a great line-up between now and Q1 2010. GDC and E3 will see even more greatness shown. Microsoft may show some cool stuff, but so will Sony. So MS will have nothing + some new stuff, and Sony will a lot of awesome + some new stuff. Sounds like no matter what, Sony's exclusive line-up will remain better.

I agree. I'm hoping for an announcement of less adult focused games. Well, basically, I want a new Jak because I think the PS3 NEEDS him as the PS3 is currently marketed at adults like the PS2 was for the first few years. PS3 needs to be more kid friendly now (especially with the upcoming price drop) and I hope we're flooded with new platform mascots as I think the platform franchises have always been the ace up Sony's sleeve when it came to the sales, because nobody else was doing them in such a way without making the games 'cutsey'.

E3 dont take place until July or August this year. So when they say, "wait till E3", thats just pathetic.

Cos does that mean they are content (as a gamer) and admit that the 360 doesnt have any games to play for the first half of the year?

And when E3 finally hits, then what? 2 or 3 games that are being released by the end of this YEAR at the EARLIEST and in 2010? Hahaha
