God Of War III Development In Full Swing

Kratos has been flexing his muscles with the PlayStation brand for quite some time now and everyone has been excited about the supposed final chapter in the trilogy. The word around Santa Monica Studios is that development for God of War III has finally picked up steam.

But boy would GoW3 put a nail in the coffin for PS3 exclusives for the year. Who knows Zipper may have MAG ready, or Poly may live up to their statement that GT5 will be out by the end of the year. DC Universe is one of those games flying under the radar that I hope to see this year as well. Now it looks like Uncharted 2 will be the biggest release of holiday 09, right now I mean.

So basically, it's the way i predicted and considering alot of devs in the team have told me this already.

Sony won't stress this game out... That, i'm sure of.
So March 2010 then :) good enough for me.

2009 will still be packed as fu***k with games.
And if we are to believe the latest rumors, Final Fantasy 13 will be out around christmas.

Great to hear.

I feel ashamed I missed the original God of War games when they were first released on PS2. I bought a PSP, got Chains of Olympus with it and loved it so dusted off my PS2 and bought both PS2 games and GoW is possibly my favourite franchise ever just for sheer story and gameplay. Absolutely cannot wait until the 3rd one is released.

Another thing, I'm not a 360 owner and as much as I like shooters I've not yet been tempted to buy a 360 for it's shooters but if there were a GoW like game on that platform then I'd be straight out to buy one, just to get some gameplay like that. Oh and if any 360 owners read this and know of a game like that on 360, please pm me and point me in that game's direction so I may cure my ignorance. That is a genuine request ans ultimately the point of the 2nd paragraph of this post lol.

to be honest, you'd be hard pressed to find any game on any platform that can come close to what God of War offers as far as gameplay, QTE action sequences, engrossing story, etc.

As a 360 owner myself (having played a lot of 360 games), I have no idea if there are any games that can come close and that's me being honest.

I remember even Sony reps who were listing a great number of "2009 exclusives" didn't metion GoW3 - when they DID mention GT5 which is largely expected not to make it this year. It will release next year I'm sure of it. In fact, that's what I want to happen so the game's as good as it can be.

15 - In a way, I'm relieved

As badly as I want this game in my hands, I need some extra time to get through a batch of my yet-to-be-touched games:

Far Cry 2, LBP, Socom: Confrontation, Lair (yes, I said LAIR), RB 2, GHWT, Killzone: Liberation, Socom 2 (PSP)...and that's not counting my batch of untouched PC and Wii games, and my many other PS3 games that have been put on the back-burner because of the above arrivals, or any of this year's other anticipated titles (namely RE5 & GT5).

...and once Killzone 2 makes it's way through my doorstep next month...well, you get the picture.

So as far as I'm concerned, having God of War come out in 2010 is actually a...<GASP!> "good" thing.

And besides, with an extra year to work on, imagine the spit & polish the studio's gonna have on that game.

Gonna be amazing!!!

I am a bit disappointed. Not with the long awaiting release date but the fact that santa monica guys are stating the graphics are going to be matched with other ps3 titles!
I mean i heard constantly from various sources that the visuals were going to knock our sucks off( this jaffe guy)! And it is all they can come up with? And that the developing was now on full force?:(

I don't want to sound sarcastic, but i mean come on! we are talking about God of war 3 here! I am a Sony fanboy. But this is a bit disappointing:(

If GoW3 does nothing more than EQUAL the graphical calibre of Killzone 2, R&C, and Uncharted, then consider me satisfied.

they didnt literally mean MATCH the quality of current PS3 games. they are just saying the game needs to be atleast on par with whats out. cause honestly the trailer they showed at the awards was NOT on par with what uncharted 1 or 2 looked like and no where near on par with KZ2. which is fine cause the game is so far away.

dont worry God of War is Playstations poster boy, they will not let this game come out unless it will blow your socks off.
