Although the Fallout 3 1.10 patch fixes a larger number of bugs and glitches, gamers have reported that it has also introduced some new problems, most commonly on the PS3.

Its all that fallout radiation in the new patch. It deteriorates everything on an atomic level.

"Thankfully, this only seems to occur with saved files before the patch..."

...Thankfully?

"Thankfully, the millions of people that have old saves are SOL..."

Good developers, not so good programmers, reminds me of Rockstar and GTA4.

Most open world games tend to have a lot of problems, this is nothing new.

6 - well.. this worked for me
I made a backup on a USB from my PS3 of my saved file before the patch, then patched the game, and yeah it ruined my save but then I overwrite the corrupted save with the backup save and it worked fine. Someone else made this? it worked for me

It's certainly a good thing that you can do that with a USB drive.

I'm gonna do that before I start playing again. I'm soooo close to getting the platinum trophy and I would hate to slog through the game to get the last few trophies if my data was corrupted.

Well, I guess I'm glad I don't have the PS3 version, but why do devs always manage to mess up stuff only on the PS3? It bloody sucks.

Too many games have issues where patches mess up previous saves. It shouldn't happen, period.

So has anyone actually had issues with the 360 or PC versions of Fallout 3 after the patch? It'd be good to find out before I go home and start it up on the 360 tonight.

Inquiring minds would definitely like to know (including me). I've got the 360 version and haven't even downloaded the patch yet.

Yeah, I'm afraid to start up my 360 version. Makes me wish I had a memory card to back it up on. I think I'll wait a little to play to be sure it won't happen.

I would wait, guys...just in case. If you can't back it up, wait. I'm backing mine up on a flashdrive. (PS3 version)

11 - Another way to backup...
Just make another user on your PS3 - you can copy saved games to this 'account' and have a duplicate.

I'd better do that as I only have one save :) I got rid of the rest clearing up some space.

11.1 - if yu have a little flash drive, you can save your data on that too
...I do that almost once a month or when I get a lot of achievements; just in case I get a massive failure that can't be recovered.

13 - Good thing I got 100% today
Only had to get to level 20 with bad Karma, finally achieved it about 5 minutes ago. (Also backed up my files and was never prompted to update, but still, I feel good that I hit 100% before this patch. It means it is beatable and playable)

They really do mess stuff like this up don't they? I've long since traded mine in(was disappointed with the combat systems particularly the FP shooting myself so when I finished the story arc I went back to Oblivion)and was amazed they hadn't learned much from the bugs we suffered in Oblivion(got stuck with the Vampir curse twice in that one). I had all sorts of problems the first week with Fallout3 which always meant I had to restart and now it seems to fix those Bethesda have managed to break something else!
They have great ideas but don't half like making it difficult for us gamers.

15 - I think I'm going to trade my fallout 3 copy in
For some reason it bores me. I can only play it for more then half hour, then I turn it off. Oblivion is a much better game. The biggest problem in the game. Seems to be finding missions. It takes me a long while to even find one mission! In Oblivion you couldn't walk 10 feet without finding another mission to choose from. Jesus, I wish Elder Scrolls 5 would get here soon! I'm hoping 2010 for Elder Scrolls 5.

Just to confirm, the darkend save thing only occurs right after it's autosaving or loading a location. If you go back to t when you're just walking around it'll work fine
