For tying with the PS2 in sales. ^_^

360 at $199 being beaten by the Wii at $249 by 7:1.
360 at $199 being beaten by the PS3 at $399 by 4:1.
360 at $199 being tied to the PS2 at $129.

white knight chronicles is doing pretty good, i think it will reach to 700k or even a million during its life time in japan!

The week (well the 3 days) that WKC was released PS3 sales were 46,000, and this week they are 69,000. Both of them are pretty significant boosts, seen as PS3 usually sells ~30,000 each week.

No... WKC sold roughly over 202 K first week, and this past week ending on Last sunday, it sold an additional 73 K according to Famitsu.

SO it's sold roughly 276 K in the first 2 weeks in japan.

Edit Since it came out on the 25th, it sold 276 K in 9 days...

3 - Isn't the PS3 dead?

According the CNN and all these "analyst", the PS3 is suppose to be dead. How the hell is a dead console selling 68K+ in one week? That pretty strange.
Oh and wasn't WKC suppose to be a flow because Famitsu gave it a 29/40?

What really is sad is that White Knight Chronicles got a low review by Japan's main magazine Famitsu. Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and the other jrpg's on the 360 rated much better. It's a shame that gamers in Japan can't get their heads out of their asses and see that an American console has better games for them.

But this is Sony Land. The ps3 only beat the 360 by around 50k. In comparison, the 360 beat the ps3 by roughly a million consoles in 2 months in NA. That's how it's done!

Nice comparison, so you say PS3 beats 360 by 50 k in 1 week, yet you compare what 360 beats PS3 in North America in 2 months.

You do realize if PS3 is beating 360 by roughly 50 K a week in japan, it's beating 360 by 400 K in japan in those same 2 months (sure it's not a million, but it's also not 50 k either.)

Its annoying how you get your american head out of your american company that sells you products that don't even make it to the standard to certain countries laws. Thats why they lost millions of $$$ in sues inside EU.

Also if you actually saw the live feed of WKC you will know its a great game. FAMI said that its too similar to prevoius Level-5 games...and that is the best thing it can be. The only bad thing FAMI said is that..and it is actually good.

PS2 is still king of JRPGs with the best JRPG released this year called Persona 4.

what i dont get is WHY does the Ps3 have to win. we all know that japan favors the Playstation, but so did the U.S an Europe BEFORE the 360. you guys just dont wanna give MS no kudos for what their doing. but if you guys wanna claim that few thousand sales as a huge win for the PS3 then go right ahead. the PS3 was SUPPOSED to be doing Wii like numbers an you guys know it an sony knew it, but... they didnt expect this kinda of competition from MS an nintendo.

when people label the PS3 as a failure there mainly talking about what was EXPECTED out of the system. sony pack the PS3 full of features, free online gaming an the PLAYSTATION name standing behind it an its ONLY selling even or a little worse than the xbox, thats why its being labeled a failure!!

WKC should be doing much better than what we are seeing but it's not and that shows you how much the Japanese are brand loyal. 2.7 mil people own a PS3 in Japan and WKC might be the first real JRPG since the system really hit and it might only sell maybe 500k. I guess the JRPG they are really waiting for is FF XIII...I think something like 1.3Mil first week, not sure with a user base of maybe 3mil that 1/3 of them that would own it. I've checked all FF sales 1st week and the there has been a decline each time, and that was with the PS2 user base. So I don't see how FF XIII can sell better than X-2 first week. When FF X-2 was out the PS2 had a user base of 21mil, just a little worried how the things are going down over there.

As far as WKC goes, I guess we give it some praise in such a harsh market that love the sequels to franchises they know...

There is logic to what you are saying but you got to remember. Your remark as saying "expected" Was the wii expected to sell so many consoles, was the xbox 360 expected to lower it prices. PS3 Xbox360 and the wii have it high points and low points but making people believe that "We are the next big thing" is what they are guilty for

To put in prespective how big WKC 2nd weeks sales are:

DMC4 did 34,000 its 2nd week and MGS4 did 65,000 its second week.

And these are a few of the top games in PS3 lineups (in terms of sales in japan).

19K for 360 is pretty good for Japan. It will prob go up once star ocean bundles hits.

PS3 68K is good if you compare with 360 but WKC just came out and it still way behind wii.

I am not sure what Sony's strategy, but it surely don't look like they are going win this console race.

Ofcourse, all 3 consoles are going exist whether anyone likes it or not. Wii is successful console since it is making money. PS3 is going to be successful too 'coz its somewhat future proof and they will eventually make profit (real profit = total income for generation - total cost for genration).

On the other hand 360, I am not sure about it but they did bring some good game this generation. Kudos to all.

according to what im reading now in the other side. japan is all that matters for world sales. a country that has the same the same amount of people as new york, is the whole world. guess the 360 must be doomed. especially since the ps3 sold in its own country less then there are total people living in my town. yes town.
