Nah, I'm kidding, but lots of developers have told us both consoles are basically equal in performance and I am sick of PS3 fanboys taking it upon themselves to just decide that the PS3 is much more powerful.

The 360 isn't going to hold the PS3 version back in the least. It was allegedly already in development on the PS3 before it ever started development on the 360, so I don't see how it could be held back by the 360 (if such a thing is even possible). It's basically a chance for a PS3 fanboy to take a potshot at the 360 and nothing else.

Let me ask you something: if a game is developed on the 360 first and ported to the PS3 it nearly always looks better on the 360, yet if a game is developed on the PS3 and ported to the 360 it nearly always looks equal (and sometimes still better) on the 360, why is that? How do you think the 360 would hold back the PS3, given the facts above?

just too all of the fanboys out there slagging one system or the other

you do realize that their toolset is set up to develop on pc first, and then they port it to consoles? it makes localization easier

crystal tools works that way, then they optimize for each respective version

there will be very little if any disparity between the versions and one system won't limit the other

i'm sure if this game comes out sucking it will be 360 or ps3s fault because that is how you peoples minds work

but anyway...good day

I personally prefer it this way, makes it all the more exciting when you get the game. Too often these days you feel like you have seen half the game already through media, so it makes a nice change for a company to remain tight lipped about a game.

Optical disc capacity does not directly relate to how many pixels you can push, DVD alone will not effect the PS3 version in anyway. It just makes the job a little more difficult for SE to "cut" the game up for multiple DVDs on the 360 and the extra charges that go along with having multiple DVDs (something MS will have to cough up for).

In fact DVD actually reads at a larger rate than BR, so there for BR can pose a challenge, having good streaming or using the HDD effectively (doesnt mean installs) see, naughty dog. Allp urely due to BR drives (in the PS3) being early revisions, read speeds will increase, just as happened with DVD.

Ah yeah, true they will use a DL Disc which means one layer reads 12X and the second, 8X. But even at 8X, DVD still reads more than a 2X BR drive (PS3).

Yes you are right about that, the reason though why I said a BD is faster is because DVD's cannot run at max speed all the time because of its design. It's about the average you can get between the slowest(inside) and the fastest(outside) read speed. Where BD's are constant throughout.

there is a lot more to this than just drive speeds though...drive speeds are important...but the capacity is the major advantage...as obvious as that may be...

Guerrilla has stated similar things as well...by utilizing BD as a high res uncompressed texture storage medium, and streaming the textures in in uncompressed formats...it frees up additional processing and memory that would otherwise be used 'unpacking' the textures...ANY HD game on DVD has to have the textures 'packed' on, as uncompressed textures in HD resolutions are simply far too large for that format...not that the PS3 has any trouble with processing power over rival consoles anyway, but memory is often a different story...

Guerrilla's approach will become very common among first party software from Sony (as Uncharted also did this, but to a much lesser degree apparently)...and is rumored to be put into the ongoing EDGE middleware for 3rd party developers...it kills two birds with zero stones...it frees up memory and processing power...it also creates no need for an HDD install...and it results in games looking like Killzone 2...which no other console game is even close to...
