1 - The only thing that list does...
...is show us just how generic the FPS genre is. Yes they have become technically more impressive over the years and are still fun to play but nothing about them, in terms of game mechanics, has really changed.

What? Resistance: Fall of Man was a great shooter! Despite the graphics, the storyline and gameplay were incredible! The only problem with R2 is that the storyline is short. The multi-player is better than COD, the co-op is addicting as frick, and the storyline was really good. (Extremely surprising ending though. Like...holy frick!)

sad thing is to this day I still haven't played Half Life 2, lol I'm a terrible gamer. But Bioshock and Half Life 2 are probably some of the best games ever made no matter of genre. Their is absolutely just something about Bioshock that still to this day makes me remember it, and I haven't played it since 2007.

I dunno... Bioshock was "meh" after the first 30 mins... rest of the game was just shoot this, hack that and repeat. Oh, and the fact that guns > plasmids (is that what they were called? can't recall) was a really bad thing btw ;<

Really? I thought the game was gripping, awesome and the plasmids were totally the coolest part of the game. I dunno what it is about the game, it just has 'it' for me at least. All FPS are "go here and shoot this" though

Yea, the plasmids were cool, but I wish they were a bit stronger... or more fights like the final one at least. No multiplayer was the most disappointing part of the game... it could've been really addictive with all the different plasmids available.
Dunno... I just never really got into it... maybe I should give it another shot when I get bored of the gazillion great games that came out lately and the ones coming up in the next month.
One more thing... is there any difference between the PC and the 360 version?

Halo 3 over ANY of those games?

Seriously?

Halo 3 over System Shock 2? They're obviously devout gamers, but what are they smoking? Halo 3 is one of the shallowest games I've ever played.

How do Unreal Tournament, Tribes 2, Counter Strike, F.E.A.R., Battlefield 1942, NOLF, and Wolfenstein get listed below Halo 3?

the only reason halo 3 is on the list is its the only FPS on console that lets you take the game so far.
A. map editors.
B. new updates.
C. large community (even if 40% are under 15)
D. always a match to play
E. ranking system that has been modified i believe 2 times now to help know boosters and people who drop ranks on purpose.
F. no to mention the large fanbase. there maybe alot of people who hate the game, but it has a massive crowd that follows it.

its no wonder its in there. personally i liked halo 3 for awhile and ill pick it up every now and then, but its by far not my favorite FPS. at the moment that goes to L4D.

and yes Black should have been higher up. i bet if it had Mutiplayer it would have been.

Half-Life 2...YES! The Episodes were great also.

I would put Bioshock higher though...believe it or not. Bioshock is one of the best games ever made.

I think they should be shot for putting Halo 3 up there with such epics as F.E.A.R., System Shock 2, and Bioshock. How do you really compare them? Is it a popularity contest? It Halo 3 good because people bought it? People buy Madden every year, but I've yet to enjoy myself with that series.

It's like i said. Dues Ex didn't make top 10? But somehow BioShock, HL2 AND CoD4 make top 5? I've played them all (i didn't play Bioshock in full though) and DE easily tops them all.

HL2 wouldn't make my top anything besides besides my top over rated games of all time. I was expecting it to be this great video game, with a really intriguing storyline and characters. It didn't have a storyline really, bad narrative, worser level design and superfluous weapons. I own CoD4 and it isn't that great, but i haven't really played the single player that much. BioShock i can see why since it copies in essence of System Shock 2 and Dues Ex, but since i've had a experience like that before it wasn't that great to me.

The first FPS that I ever loved was Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, but it definitely doesn't deserve to be on the list, let alone number 1.

I played Goldeneye on the N64 the other day, and it was bad. It's hard to go back to 1 stick when you've trained yourself with 2.

I thought i was the only one that noticed that since no one mentioned it. CS:CZ sucks horribly. Its either 1.6 or Source, 1.6 has been for the most part turned into a modfest. It's hard to find just the regular objective based CS for 1.6. All I can find now a days is either DM or some zombie mod thats pretty horrible.

I still think to this day that Half-Life (original) is the best FPS ever made, Half-Life 2 is second. If you played Half-Life when it first came out, it blew your mind, guaranteed.
